THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO

Would have been far more impressive, were it not samefag...

The Barry Gray theme is still quite good.

>being this new

I was the only one who liked TB5.

;_;

nobody appreciates combo posting anymore

Comfybird.

> They realised TB1 was shit, came up with a better design, then made that TB3.

>It's a John is a disappointment to his father and gets locked up in space episode.

What did he do to earn his hatred guys?

How many remakes/reboots/etc did this series have?

Would have been far more impressive if your mother preferred pearl necklaces.

TWO

There was that movie about 12 years ago, and there's a new CGI show that came out about two years ago, AFAIK.

1 live action movie, everyone hated it. 1 reboot, divides old fans, but I quite like it

2 is where its at

What's the reboot like, compared to the original series? From what I've seen of it it looks just like any other 21st century reboot (i.e. a pale shadow of the source material) but I'm not going to discount it on principle.

just watch it you faggot

Considering we've gone from a reality of cold war level espionage plots to social media and information age I'd say they handled the difference of era pretty well

Sweet, I may check it out

No

It's in the spirit of the original i.e. 5 brothers go out on rescues and live on a private island. But it's been modernised Tin-Tin (now Kayo) is more active, Grandma wears a jogging suit etc. It mostly works pretty well considering how bad it could have been.

That's genuinely nice to hear desu

It's worth it for the times when they use models.

Model or CG?

This is the voice of the Mysterons.

John+EOS for best boy girl.

I get why they designed that TB4 add on, but still... WHY?

They've definitely put alot of effort into it with the models and the designs
I love the throwbacks too - in fact in Season 1 where Alan is learning to drive they get out the original Rolls Royce at Lady Penelope's and that whole episode is great - she wears original clothes and it has a puppet scene of opening a pot of tea

Probably the biggest difference is that no one has guns

to sell toy's

It is technically a kids show, I question why John had a gun on a space station in the first place.

God I entirely forget the Captain Scarlet remake exists at all.

I liked Thunderbirds and Stingray as a kid, but I never got into Captain Scarlet.

I mean he's fucking INDESTRUCTIBLE. Where's the threat?

I didn't care about the threat I just loved seeing him fuck up some baddies

Well maybe this week he'll get trapped under a rock or some shit and not be able to help Blue! Totally tense!

Honestly it was all about the vehicles for me. Those designs are so stylish.

Well considering its the future perhaps they saw the incredibly mediocre film 'life' or whatever it was called

I still remember in the movie 'Thunderbird 6' when TB1 & 2 blow the crap out of that terrorist base literally killing like 50 bad guys

I have that in my attic

I desperately regret letting my mum get rid of my Gerry Anderson toys.

I have all my giant size (well I think they were the biggest size) Thunderbird models, I think I broke Captain Scarletts red car so that was binned, but the SPV is still here, they'll all probably be worth a fortune in 20 years

I also bought a limited edition poster - only 1965 made - think there's a few left on their website, relatively cheap for what I think is technically an investment

God yeah. The original series Thunderbirds were pretty deadly. I think it's the 1st episode Scott ends up shooting up the Hood's car on a motorway just for taking pictures of TB1.

>release thunderbirds on blu-ray in glorious HD
>it's fucking cropped for 16:9 TVs
Did they ever remedy this?

Pahahahaha I love the idea that the worlds superheroes are also judge jury and executioner

A Japanese animated sequel in name only, a live action show with human actors repackaging said Japanese cartoon, a live action movie directed by William Riker and starring Bill Paxton as Jeff Tracy and Ben Kingsley as literally The Mandarin, and the current CGI reboot. The original show had multiple revivals in the UK and other English speaking territories, one in 1992 and another in the early 2000s, along with Stingray and Captain Scarlet.

The Shout Factory US release is HD and uncropped in 4:3. The UK's still stuck with 16:9.

Weirdly enough you just reminded me that this was my wallpaper when I was a kid
