I recently rewatched the opening scene of ROTS. Even through the crappy dialogue and aged effects, the dynamic between Obi-Wan and Anakin is more enjoyable than anything from the sequels. The opening of TFA hints at a similar dynamic between Finn and Poe, but unfortunately this ends even more quickly.

to think, what if 1 started with the clone wars beginning? Like, what if instead of the gungun battle at the end, what if we got the clones who swooped in to save the day? Imagine if they went with part of the plot to spec ops into the city(like how Amedala and her guards went into the throne room while other Naboo soldiers took to the streets. They had an epic alamo style battle(like the end of saving private ryan) in the queen's city, but it ended with the full CIS force surrounding the city on the ground, in the air, and in space. The Naboo soldiers and the queen are all overwhelmed, the jedi battled with Maul *throughout* the city and the epic battle that took place, and one of the key features of the feeling of defeat the Naboo people feel is when maul kills Qui Gon in front of everyone as the confederacy surrounds them in the background. Then, out of nowhere, the clones show up in the horizon *behind* the CIS ground forces, and in space above the air units. Naboo is engulfed in pure clone warfare, and then shit ends on the feeling of relief from being released from the stranglehold the surrounding army held on everyone.

Can we please stop talking about star wars. I'm really starting to hate these fucking movies.

if they had actually worked towards any sort of interesting backstory with anything that had happened in these new movies, I would've enjoyed it. I mean, 7 initiated some form of wonder. "look at this big hologram guy, look at the knights of ren, look at the slain jedi order started by luke, look at all these hints towards Rey's parentage!" then 8 rolls around and they literally go "haha you actually thought there was anything significant with all that? nahh, they were nobodies."
