STAR WARS IX USELESS SPECULATIONS THREAD

Like TLJ or not, it clearly simplified the story for the next episode (snoke is dead, luke is dead, most of the resistance is dead) but yet makes it difficult since we actually lack the usual tension of an end of a trilogy. There's several questions about this episode:

> Elypse ?
The end of TLJ suggests a new generation of rebels but it will take time to get anything out of it. Telling the adventures of the 15ish survivant rebels immediatly after TLJ sounds boring. Both camps need time, the Resistance needs to find a new base and rebuild, Kylo Ren needs to make sure all of the First Order is loyal to him and now the Republic is gone, make sure the First Order rules over the galaxy.
An Elypse is highly probable there but the cast is young and it can't be too much, probably one year or two at the most.

> Big bad ?
Kylo Ren became the leader of the evil side at the end of TLJ but can we really expect him to be the final opponant ? Rey already bested him and even if he refused AGAIN a chance to redemption, he's still really unclear on Rey's subject and could turn good once again or at least be conflicted about it.

It's hard to make a huge movie only about this, episode IX can't be just Rey fighting Kylo. So what else ? A new big bad inside the First Order challeging Kylo's authority ? It can't be Hux, the guy became a comic relief. Can we accept a new guy we never saw in two movies ? The only pieces we have are the knights of Ren (if they were not the praetorian guards) or Snoke origins.

What about an outside threat ? An alien race from outside the galaxy or super sensitive with the force ? This would break the narrative and would belong to another trilogy, not the end of one.

JJ realizes huge negative reaction to the Last Jedi and backs down from a lot of shit we didn't like, to play it safe.

Yes but how ?

They finish killing the original trilogy characters, all the ties with the past are cut, and Disney is free to do any single thing they desire with the SW brand in the trilogy that follows after IX.
The End.

Brings back Snoke as a force ghost, who totally planned this shit all along. Snoke continues being an antagonist, but this time he can't even be killed. He'll be essentially evil version of Obi Wan.

You can't really back down from all that shit they did to Luke, though.

Kylo impregnates Rey

but the point of ghosts were to be at peace with the Force. Snoke clearly isn't.

You're trying to apply EU-logic to Disney canon. If they want a force-ghost duel between Snoke and Luke then they'll just fucking do it and leave their interns with the job of trying to explain how and why in the companion novels.

Maybe. But the Dark Side also need a rebirth. Jedis will be reborn under Rey and Luke's ghost but the Dark Side can't be just Kylo and Snoke's corpse, they need to find a schtik to create new vilains.

I have a theory that Snoke was able to transfer his soul to a new body or become some kind of ghost. He basicly said that he was invincable and that would be a good way to justify his pathetic death and would give them a reason to dive into his backstory

That's actually a good idea since it gives a better body to Snoke... but why not do it before since his body was so shitty ?

TLJ effectively destroyed 9 ahead of time, while doing nothing to validate TFA. Not only that, but the negative backlash to TLJ leaves 9 with few options as it'll HAVE to play it safe, but TLJ already ripped from RotJ. It's pre-emptively fucked. 9 will be a shitshow no matter what they do. They have no more plot threads to follow, no mysteries to answer, nothing else to copy. The only meaningful thread left is the relationship between Rey and Kylo. It's fucked.

Snoke is Plaguies and comes back. Luke disappearing was an illusion on Ach To. There, IX is saved.

Also, Kylo lied about Rey's parents, she's actually a Palpatine. The Knights of Ren (finally) show up to do something.

For >muh plot twist
Would be ok though

>163
NuWars deserved to die TFA was garbage and whole new cannons in between Last Jedi and TFA was dumb as fuck.
Thnaks based Rian for putting StarWars out of misery

JJ will do what he does best, make 100% derivative trash. Doesn't matter the setup Last Jedi leaves behind for him, he will just rehash Return of the Jedi for Episode IX. Snoke will come back as a torso with spider legs riding a fourth Death Star, Luke will turn out to not have actually died and have a giant ridiculous action scene to make everyone happy. Maybe some kind of double battle where Rey and Luke team up to fight Robo-Snoke and Kylo.

HUWHUW how about Palpatine ordered a droid army for the New Republic before his death lol?

Honestly the only way I can see any hope for E9 is if they have a big time skip. At least 10 years.

Enough time to build another super weapon, Leia dying of old age, Rey studying and mastering the books she stole from Luke, Kylo actually becoming a strong leader.

But even if JJ is the best director out there, I don't think he can save this trilogy anymore. The damage is done. E8 was supposed to elaborate and fully establish the plot, just like E5. Even E2, with it's shitty dialog, successfully did that. E8 destroyed all the little plot we had. All I can hope is for the final lightsaber fight to be good.

This movie just proved that all your silly speculating was a waste of time and life and you would've been better off planting pumpkin seeds in the park

Kylo: Rey, I. Am your brother.
Rey: hwaa?! No!

JJ did the dmg by trashing the old trilogy and coming up with random nonsense like Snoke, First Order, Luke going missing, New Republic beeing a joke.
If Snoke wan't Plagieus i don't give a damn.

Rian did well crashing this joke of a trilogy with no surviviors.

>bigger starkiller base- now a star coveted into a weapon
>rey converts kyle to the light in the end and he dies heroically killing snoke who was never actually dead
>snoke is the emperor who is darth platypus - basically the sith resurrection is more like Dr who regeneration

Here's what jj will do.
Set up a bunch of fake mystery boxes so people will sperg out and start making theories and wonder how the new trilogy will answer them only to be disappointed 2 years later when there's no answers.

Time skip. Kylo becomes Emperor and trains new apprentice. Rey kills them both. The end.

>Rey kills them both
Hux will kill him in a Grima Wormtongue fashion, I think.

Seriously, TFA set an absolutely terrible foundation for this trilogy right out the gate. Playing it straight would have just resulted in a terrible retelling of the OT, with TLJ RJ burned down the whole thing and handed the ash pile back to JJ. I just don't understand why Disney let him.

>implying that the Dark Side isn't a pathway to abilities that some would consider to be ...unnatural, and Snoke doesn't have the ability to cheat death

>implying Luke won't appear as a ghost

Time travel time.

Rey has no living Jedi master to train her and no lightsaber (with no knowledge to construct one either). The Jedi Order is seriously fucked.

That dark place literally showed her that she is a clone, but she didn't understand.

This. JJ would probably back out of this whole thing if he wasn't a producer.

She has the ancient books she stole, and a lightsaber she can fix.

Of whom?

A lack of mansplaining hasn't stopped her yet.

Let me lay this shit on ya... every time he comes back he looks even more shit.

Someone who looks just like her, obviously.

The lightsaber blew up.

This has piqued my interest. Not only her own reflection being revealed but that eerie assembly line of herself?

It broke in two, and she has both halves

What if ep. IX reveals that the guy in The Last Jedi was actually Luuke, and Luke was somewhere else.

She has both halves of it on her lap when she's sitting next to Leia on the Falcon. They show a close-up of them.

Wouldn't put it past JJ

Is there even anything to speculate?

Leia is dead.
Luke is a ghost that won't amount to anything.
Poe is the leader now.
FinnxRose will have some backdrop plot.
Rey will be the best jedi ever and restore the order.

> Luke disappearing was an illusion on Ach To

It doesn't matter, they murdered his character.

Well, that's lame. Luke's green saber represented his growth as a person. I guess it makes sense for Rey to use the same one since we're two movies in and she still has no character development.

It's like poetry, it rhymes

The Empire's last stand at Jakku had to be defending something with their entire remaining fleet, right? Sheev's secret clone lab. Junkers find a girl, sell her for beer money. She doesn't remember parents because clones don't have parents. Who was the original? Maybe Sheev's daughter whose death originally caused him to turn to the dark side? Fucking hire me, JJ!

Rich-as-fuck Lando saves the day!

>Hux: EXECUTE ORDER 99
>Stormtroopers start shooting at Kylo's back

it will be sheer pottery

Admiral Ackbar returns as a Force Ghost

OR

It's revealed Admiral Ackbar ALSO flew through the vacuum of space to safety like Princess Leila

Maybe it's not a clone, but an engineered person designed to be the most force attuned ever
Palpetine was ready to replace vader with luke. Maybe he had another plan.

The First Order breaks in two. One faction is led by General Hux, and the other is led by Kylo Ren. The Resistance has taken root all through the galaxy, as slaves and young Force-gifted children turn on their master and join Leia’s rebels.

Rey starts a ragtag group of young recruits to train in the Force (even though she herself isn’t a master). The Knights of Ren have flocked to Kylo’s side as he hunts for Rey and her young sidekicks.

Snoke stays dead. He was a mistake to begin with.

The next series of movies will take place during the Old Republic Era and will explain origin stories of the Jedi and the Sith.

I’m a Lucasfilm employee. AMA

>I’m a Lucasfilm employee. AMA

Why does Disney hate Luke?

The vision shows infinite identical Reys. Then she says "show me my parents", and two sillouhettes merge into one, and she sees it's ...herself. She's a clone.

Rey = Daughter
Ben = Son
Leia = The Father
>Ghosts of Mortis in TCW
>Living personifications of The Force
>Daughter = Light
>Son = Dark
>Father = Balance
>The destiny of The One is to replace the Father
>Anakin refuses and fails, Aspects all die
>Force is thrown off balance, affecting entire galaxy
>Allows Anakin's fall and Palpatine's rise
>Skywalker destiny is to balance Force
>Without Aspects Luke and Leia overthrow the Empire and Luke redeems their father to restore the balance
>Disney buys Star Wars
>Fucks the lore with a dragon dildo brand dragon dildo
>Ben is stupid strong in Dark Side so . . . Son
>Rey is stupid strong in Light Side so . . . Daughter
>Ghost Luke or Leia (more likely) will take on their father's destiny and take their position as The Father (Mother)

The only thing worthy of speculation here would be how many story threads it will drop.

will hux and kylo fuck in the next one?

snoke isn't dead. Snoke is Darth Plagueis. He is immortal

That doesn't mean she's a clone. Clones are siblings, not parents.

Mortis was stupid anyway, and is not appearing in the movie. The whole light/dark balance thing is fan fiction tier. The balance was always about destroying the dark side.

"Your troops are skilled at committing high treason, General. Perhaps Supreme Leader Snoke should consider a clone army." -Kylo to Hux in TFA

This is in fact so well thought out that I'm sure it's going to get completely ignored in the new movie.

He has a penis and was too beloved. You need to love Rey now. Forget Luke.

Haven't you realized?? He was responsible for the birth of Kylo Ren, the he ran away like a coward.

Everything you said is true, but I see no way of fitting this new mess into the greater canon.

Can't drop any story threads if there aren't left.

It's painfully clear Disney don't have a greater framework. They're making it up as they go along.

Jango's clones look identical to him, brainlet. The vision was hinting to her she doesn't have parents. She has a cell donor.

Lucas wrote that Mortis fan fiction, by the way.

fuck you rian

I told my friend the same thing earlier tonight before posting it publicly.

Source?

Episode IX will be split into 2 parts.

How is that different than a test tube baby/engineered
Still no parents

Is Google broke?

as interesting and actually a plot point as that is, i think the mirror of reys was just either neato looking pseudo-deep like everything else in the nu-force or it was symbolizing that rey not luke will continue to train more new jedi. the many reys are the many students of the force who will carry on after her.

the clone thing is way better though since she was questioning her parentage during that scene.

i think episode 9 is savable but it will have to be full of moments where episode 8 was just pulling our leg! snoke isnt dead he can body tramsfer/is a force ghost. reys parents arent just drunks. luke is still around as a force ghost etc... you cant undo all the damage but some of it can be fixed i just doubt episode 8 was suppose to be a red herring that actually gets reversed in the finally for major plot twists. i dont trust them enough to be that smart about it, theyd basically have to purposefully have made this movie to make every "answer" to TFA's questions a nothing answer on purpose so that we stop questioning and then when we get the real answers in 9 its surprising instead of every one just saying "called it!". Again i just dont trust them to be smart enough or to want to piss off so many fans JUST to surprise them at the end.

so to fix 9 we need someone to get in the directing chair and writing room who really cares to turn this all around and has some good ideas on how to do that, if its al been planned out and some of this is just to subvert expectations for the finale ill be impressed but too many things that cant be reversed point to this just being poor writing and not a fake out, luke pulling his saber on ben in his sleep being completely out of character for luke being the prime example that this was infact just bad writing with no forward thinking for how to end this properly.

Stop lying they already confirmed that the next trilogy won't be old republic and will be something new instead.

So none.

I'm not sure what you're trying to argue other than you didn't understand what I wrote.

He gave his input but didn't exactly write.
Star Wars Insider magazine

Behind the scenes shit from when it aired, sourcefag. Do your own legwork. It's well known he financed the series and was heavily involved with the story.

So it shouldn't be hard to post a source. You're making the claim, so back it up.

Who gives a shit? Second order is still around in episode 10.

We finally get to the real questions

>browses Sup Forums
>can't type "Mortis" on imdb
>can't look for the writer credits

Go away

I thought it was meant to symbolize how the dark side carried no knowledge, only ego. Rey goes in for answers, sees only herself, and comes out saying there was nothing in there. Similar to how when Luke went to the fog cave on Degobah the only thing he saw was what he took with him, and how even though at first he thought he was fighting Vader he was really fighting himself.

Best thing they can do is to make Kylo Ren the main villain for the next 4 films (Episode 9 and Rian's next trilogy that has been green lit or he is trying to get Disney to green light).

Have him be the new Snoke i.e. the most powerful dark force user (not a Sith) and I wouldn't mind if new characters appear in Rian's trilogy as they have to try and defeat Kylo BUT make it that they don't and that Kylo succeeds in every way.

And this time actually show some politics of the New Order going to planets and putting people in house arrest etc like the Rebels tv show did because we never got any of that in Episode 8 when the New Order supposedly controlled regions of the galaxy yet it did not feel like this.

Episode 8 ending with no one wanting to help the remaining Rebels as they were outnumbered by the New Order was a brilliant writing decision because now the series can go into a different direction: majority around the galaxy despise the Resistance and they could even go so far as to have faith in Kylo or the New Order (such as the rich people in Episode 8 who were living fine) or perhaps we could follow the life of someone who decides to enter politics and create his/her own party that will be like the Resistance but better.

This would make for an excellent new trilogy bur of course Disney don't care for politics and they will probably keep it very safe.

You know the young kid at end of Episode 8? Have Kylo seduce him and have him become a dark force user. The Jedi really should not have the upper hand anymore.

>creator of entire universe and characters gets writer's credit
>this proves something

I guess James Cameron made The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

There will be entire fleets of droid controlled suicide ships.
RAMMING SPEED!

Actually, "robot ramships" were already a thin in eu lore.
Look it up on wookiepedia.

Also, the rebels will have a magic black hole machine that sucks up the FO.
FO is then transported to the past of our reality, inspiring the rise of hitler and the nazi party.

>Rian's trilogy

A tie in with Guardians of the Galaxy

What hurts more living with AIDS? Is it more psychological or more physical?

How did everyone miss the big twist? It explains 90% of the "plot holes" (lightspeed kamikaze never being used before, like, say, against the first Death Star, notwithstanding)

SNOKE IS AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN A MEAT PUPPET OF KYLO REN'S

>Too young and boyish to credibly be a "supreme leader"
>Superpowered, just like Luke - who is shown to be able to control an illusory self in this movie for some reason
>Follows a guy with zero backstory, and kills him laughably easily, in a way meant to seduce his jedi crush over to the dark side

Okay, let me break down the actual scenes, starting with the elevator ride up to the throne room.

BEN:
>I saw something too...
>because of what i saw i know that when that moment comes you will be the one to turn...
>youll stand with me...rey...
>and i saw who your parents are

So she believes her vision because it shows him turning, and he uses this to lend credibility to the idea she will turn. Then he tacks on the parents thing almost as if he forgot, but knows he needs to say it.

Then, as soon as they enter, Ren kneels and remains kneeling for the DURATION of Snoke's entire monologue.

Eventually, Snoke says:
>I warned my young apprentice that as he grew stronger, his equal in the light would rise
*lightsaber flings from kylos hand to snokes*
>Skywalker *chuckles* i assumed...wrongly

Kylo doesn't move. He allows his lightsaber to be taken (by his master, granted), but we know Ren made a similar mistake about Luke...and is Snoke not being a bit heavyhanded here? What if he's lying, and she's...rightly a Skywalker? (or not, this is not integral to the theory)

After this, Snoke suspends Rey in the air and says "now, you will give me Skywalker...you will give me...everything!". Ren remains kneeling, unmoving, as if concentrating.

This was the stupidest shit I've read in my life

>The balance was always about destroying the dark side
LOL! since when? so that in a few thousand years a group of hippie Jedi fucks that have congregated into an entire religious cult abducting every force sensitive child into their order as more political leverage, numbers and power can sit around on the Galaxy's capital dictating how the entire Galaxy should be run and having beyond high levels of corruption and control over the systems and the goddamned fucking Republic Senate? All the while they say they're non-interventionalist but will fuck you and your planet and your System in the ass if you don't do what they say while they let gangs control things in the outer rim? wow the light side is so great mmm yes infallible.

SNOKE:
>after the rebels are gone, we will go to his planet, and obliterate the entire island

If he knows from Ren's mind enough to know it's an island, why does he not know what Rey said about Ren turning? And isn't it a bit too similar to what Ren says after they kill the 6 imperial guards about letting old things die?

Then he drags her to the viewing module to see the transports, "Soon they will ALL. BE. GONE. For you child, all is lost"

why do that if he's going to kill her? Pure villainy, sure, or maybe..

What happens next is crucial - Rey force-pulls Kylo's saber from his hilt. He DOES NOT REACT. He allows it, and Snoke doesn't call him out on it. He merely lets Kylo remain kneeling as he pushes Rey back and the lightsaber drops back at Ren's feet, and spins to a stop.

Then SNOKE makes a corny speech, and Ren kills him in a most ridiculous fashion. As he pulls the saber through Snoke, he pulls it RIGHT to Rey's grasp and lets her grab it instead of taking the upper hand.

Snoke never moves again. He has no last words. As soon as Kylo begins to move, Snoke is motionless. Yes, he was cut in half, but he doesn't so much as gasp.

Kylo and Rey then immediately embark on a coordinated team-building exercise before he makes a speech much the same as the one Snoke made -- her friends are gone, it is time to end Skywalker (but also Snoke!), etc.

Then he gaslights her into admitting she knows who her parents are (she has no clue). He confirms her suspicions only after she admits it. He tells her she has no place in this story without him -- classic male abuser (hey, I didn't write it).

----

Oh, and guess how he is bested? He doesn't expect Luke to be able to do similar acts of puppeteering and remote control. It isn't that he doesn't know about the force powers that allow such things, it's simple hubris. Such ego makes a lot more sense if he was the puppetmaster behind Snoke's actions as well as his own.

>LOL! since when?

The OT.

So nothing could stop them from ultimate funfiction!

When someone uses the term "gaslight" I cannot take anything they say seriously.

Realistically here's how it goes:

>film becomes a carbon copy of ROTJ minus the great Jabba's palace scene because none of our protags were left in any danger by the end of TLJ
>the Ewok planet becomes the Porg homeplanet, turns out they're immigrated to Ahch-To and their home planet has EVEN MORE PORGS OF OH SO MANY VARIETIES, BUY THE GODDAMN TOYS YOU GOYS
>Kylo becomes Vader 2.0 and Hux is the big final bad
>Luke will be an Obi Wan force ghost to motivate Rey (and there'll probably be a "joke" where he gets told to stop mansplaining because Rey is powerful and doesn't need a MAN to motivate her)
>First Order's next plan will either be a bigger Starkiller Base or a fleet of death stars, whichever turns out more retarded
>Leia will be Paul Walker'd the entire movie so they NEVER kill her character off
>Kylo redeems himself and kills Hux but his redemption basically involves suiciding himself
>ends with Rey becoming the new jedi master to teach a bunch of force kids (including stable boy) the force
>and if we were being real Rey knows fucking nothing about the jedi or the force so she just reads out from the ancient jedi books, just like a real teacher

>96% on RT
>audience score of 30%
>articles say only "FAT FUCKING ALT RIGHT NAZI SCUM HATE THIS MOVIE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH"

This better not be it, cause I'm writing a sci-fi/fantasy story that follows almost that exact same plot line.
