>As for my radio silence to all of the inquiries coming my way. Why I have been "lying" to my fans and they want the truth. You really want the truth? Okay then.
>At face value I'm the pioneer of sprite based crossover fanfics. My series inadvertently helped hundreds, maybe thousands of aspiring animators pursue their careers and go onto great things. But the cold reality is I'm an unemployed antisocial 32 year old virgin living at my mother's place on disability benefits. Suffering from chronic depression, autism and suicidal thoughts. Feel free to make fun and kick the dirt in my face while I'm down. I honestly don't care anymore. My reputation and credibility are in shambles anyway.
This is just sad. The guy needs to pull his head out of his ass and produce SOMETHING. If he can't do his Mario Z work, he should just try something different and low key.
Of course, that would probably involve creating his own sprites which, I admit would be very difficult.
Xavier Myers
no
they haven't been RELEVANT since fucking 2005
Liam Brown
you try doing something you love for years and years, never making a dime off it and then one day realizing your old now and you have done NOTHING with your life.
your past your prime, your doing minimum wage 9-5 shit and you have zero future outlook due to spending the "best years of your life" on something that was in the end, a fad.
i'd fucking be horribly depressed
Carson Jenkins
>you have done NOTHING with your life It's true what he said though about inspiring thousands of people.
Monty [forget his last name], the CGI animator that worked for Rooster Teeth talked about how SMBZ inspired him, and his death had a huge impact on Mark [SMBZ's creator].
With all the fucking nerd-cred he has though, you'd think it'd be insanely easy to just mingle at a convention or two and meet some people. I guess mental health issues can be a real bitch.
Jaxon Hughes
>Are internet Flash Animations Sup Forums related? Yes, they are cartoons. I still watch Eddsworld every now and then
Juan Young
Thanks for posting this. I needed a good laugh.
Joseph Adams
he probably spent so much time on this shit that he never did spend time with others
i was pretty fucking devastated once i met up with my HS friends years later. we all were far from each other.
now none of them play fucking games anymore, they all play sports and shit and we were hardcore into games even leaving HS. i don't know what college did to them, but i fucking hate it
William Barnes
sure, nerd cred
so what? people are just gonna go "oh yeah, i remember watching that flash when i was a kid!" and nothing else but saying how it furthered their career in animation
this guy killed his chances, though, there were a TON of popular flash guys who just kinda fell into the internet dark depths. someone like egoraptor (who calls him that anymore?) managed to pull himself away, but only because he realized that there was an easier way to make money instead of trying to make money doing what he liked, which would have made him poor and unremembered by now.
Jayden Cooper
Homestar Runner will like to have a word with you. Yes.
>which would have made him poor and unremembered by now I wish he went that route
Hunter Parker
They're pretty swell.
Adrian Murphy
Shit like this has to be more than just a hobby.
You have to find a way to monetize what you're doing. Or grab a source of income that allows you to do your hobby (like ad revenue).
Animation is fun to watch, but you know what it isn't? Fun to make.
Dude should sell his services to someone who's willing to pay for a sprite animator. He'd make a killing off of Death Battle animations.
Kevin Cruz
>He'd make a killing off of Death Battle animations I asked him directly on Twitter once, he said he spoke to Death Battle animators and that they aren't paid nearly enough to justify their work.
John Adams
On another note, reboots suck. If you have to reboot your series, you might as well take a gun and blow off one of your kneecaps.
Nobody wants to wait several years for your next episode just for you to start back at the beginning.
Congratulations, you killed your series.
Luke Lewis
So I guess Episode 2 isn't coming then. At least we still have A Fox in Space.
Robert Rogers
Kinda reminds me of Secret of Mana Theater. >Churns out an episode a week for 4-ish years. >Then go through a 6 month hiatus. >Release some more episodes. >Then go through an 8 month hiatus. >Some more episodes. >Another 8 months later release a few more episodes. >2 years later, releases a couple more episodes. >Another two years later he tries to motor through and do some more. >He can't. >FIVE YEARS LATER....he releases a new episode. And it's a special.
yeah, its funny too i remember him from him egoraptor, not arin hanson, a fucking guy like everyone else
i hate him, mostly because he is doing the same shit i wanted to do for years (play games and make money), but none of that would have happened for him if he didn't have the huge fanbase he had from his NG days
that too, his flash shit was LULZ because at the point when he was popular, flash was pretty much dead, so anyone who was "funny" could get lots of views. i haven't used NG in years, about around 2008-9 is when i last popped in to see the site. i was using it since like 2000 and when it had that big site change, especially the site motto (the problems of the future today) changed to something like (by everyone, for everyone) i just said fuck it.
was a goon for a few years, came here in 2003 and never fucking left. so yeah, that thing about never leaving is true more than ever before since the web has become a shit show and all the web wants you to be social network bullshit, signing in and instagram. they want to know everything about YOU and thats why i like it here, everyone is anonymous, everyone is no one.
Juan Murphy
this kind of shit is literally what patreon is for. you want him to do more shit? give him money, you dont care if he does more shit? dont give him money
shit like this has to be a hobbie , if it produces shit people want to see people should put their jew gold where their interests are, the fucker being autistic and a virgin and whatever has pretty much no bearing in it, pretty much all talented artists i ever knew were somewhere in the spectrum, its part of what leads them to have the patience to do this much work without any promise of rewards
Ian Thompson
>this kind of shit is literally what patreon is for. you want him to do more shit? give him money, you dont care if he does more shit? dont give him money Read his full post. He had a Patreon that was set up to have people donate PER-EPISODE rather than monthly like most. Nintendo just saw glanced over it and saw that someone was making money off of one of their brand names and shut it down.
Camden Jenkins
shit like twitch and YT is a hobby too shouldn't be making more than most middle wage jobs doing less work
Robert Martin
then hes stupid, he just needs to setup a patreon that asks for money so that he animates, and he cant promise he will "finish" a episode or do more of a episode, just be generic "I DO ANIMATION"
"HERE IS MY ANIMATIONS" with tons of shit
Nintendo cant shut him down if hesnot getting paid directly per releasing stuff, tons of other fangaming and fan shit work like that.
Even TFS rakes in tons on patreon and ninety percent of their show is reused footage from an actual copyrighted show
Aaron Foster
God you're retarded. Nintendo is going to take his shit down no matter what he does.
Connor King
Why not just do original sprite work? The fanbase is already there and they'd give it a shot if it's good.
Nathaniel Williams
Then he should do OMM
Carson Powell
>i haven't used NG in years, about around 2008-9 is when i last popped in to see the site. i was using it since like 2000 and when it had that big site change, especially the site motto (the problems of the future today) changed to something like (by everyone, for everyone) i just said fuck it.
Are you me? Newgrounds was really different pre-2006. I don't know how the community changed because when Egorator released Metal Gear Awesome that's when I left the site and jumped on the early-Youtube ship,by that time on NG that was when: >so many started making parody cartoons >so many tired to copy egorator comedic and art style >the quality of certain animator's draftsmanship improved slightly I remember going back to NG too around 2008, only to see the same animators in the front page over and over again. Now, some of those same people are fell out of relevance because of the whole YouTube algorithm change.
>TFW I looked up to this guy when I was younger and wanted to be a sprite animator like him at some point It's been 11 years since it started in 2006
Liam Howard
Alvin-Earthworm has a backup, though: furry foot fetish porn. Fads come and go, but weirdos jerking off to furry girls putting their feet in each other's mouths is eternal.
Easton Jackson
>Fads come and go, but weirdos jerking off to furry girls putting their feet in each other's mouths is eternal I wish Youtube Poops could still be popular, he made some good ones.
Oliver Wilson
>But the cold reality is I'm an unemployed antisocial 32 year old virgin living at my mother's place on disability benefits. Suffering from chronic depression, autism and suicidal thoughts. Feel free to make fun and kick the dirt in my face while I'm down. I honestly don't care anymore. My reputation and credibility are in shambles anyway.
>tfw I was like this months ago when I was on unemployment
Fuck, I know how he feels. I'm just glad I have a job again.
Ayden Thompson
I'm glad to hear you're now contempt with being a 32 year old virgin :^)
Adrian Stewart
He's also British
Nicholas Carter
Holy fuck.
I remember this guy. Watching his shit on newgrounds, reading his comics, and enjoying the fuck out of his content. He was a great guy in my juvenile perspective, like he could do really impressive shit easily. He started my hobby of doodling, sprites, and some 3D art. Even when I didn't have that many friends and was regarded as "hyperactive" which was a nicer word for fucking retarded, this guy, and newgrounds animations and games and even fucking HALOLZ was there. I could always go back. Now I'm 20. I'm a sophmore in college getting my engineering degree in one of the best schools for it in the US, and fuck me mate, I'm popular. I lost weight, gained abs, did drugs, got smart. I started doing more and more stuff and I forgot about former shit entirely. Sup Forums, comics, doodling drugs, and vidya with friends and roomates was my main occupation. I completely forgot about this guy. Until now. Seeing this man, this poor abused man who struggled to stay afloat with his animations who had taken my path, but fallen really fucking demoralizes me. I mean fuck. I just need to understand why this world is so cruel towards those who deserve kindness and fortune. pic rel. last thing I drew today.
Why hasn't he hero'd already if he feels miserable
Colton Ward
Fair enough, but isn't he being paid literally nothing to do SMBZ?
Surely some income, is better than none?
Josiah King
That annoyed the shit out of me. I know it's free and he isn't obligated to do anything, but it seems pointless and at some point the fans are going to twindle to the point that no one gives a shit.
Luis Jones
>Blogpost >tumblr filename
If you're popular go tell your friends this shit and not post it on here, doofus.
Aaron Wood
Welp...
Julian Green
>tfw you've toyed with both making sprite comics and sprite animation but given up on both unofficially, in my head it's still WIP. since organising pages is nightmarish and any animation you did would be a tweening mess without voice acting condemned to be forgotten.
Jeremiah Lee
YTP got way better after the early years of Sonic, Link and Mario.
Owen Flores
>At face value I'm the pioneer of sprite based crossover fanfics No one was saying that. I mean, sad story and all, but that sort of image only makes it worse.
Kevin Green
Didnt he have a breakdown on twitter when the president got elected or am i thinking of another patreon guy? Feels bad man. Cant believe only death battle and homosuck had the same popularity with sprite battles (granted the latter only did like three times).
Daniel Robinson
>then one day realizing your old now and you have done NOTHING with your life Is doing what you love count as nothing?
Ryan Thompson
His last smbz episode was 8 years ago, what he was doing now was an HD "port" until he reached where he stopped.
Easton Perez
So~, what you're saying is: Probably. Right?
Ethan Wood
He did nothing in these 8 years i think thats what he refered to.
Connor Edwards
Edd was too good for this world
What Tom tried to continue with kind of was an insult even though Edd gave his graces
Sebastian Gonzalez
Because Tom ended up making it all about himself. Not to mention he was a bitch to work with, like not giving specific instructions as to what the animators should even be doing, fucking up the character's personalities, and injecting his shitty asdf humor into it all So far with the newer comics Matt seems to be handling things much better, but there still hasn't been any news on when, or if, any new Eddisodes will be made. I hope things work out for him Fuck Tom though
