It hasn't even been three months and already this fucking dumb shit is getting to FNAF heights of popularity. At least it's based off of old cartoons.

I wouldn't say it's at FNaF levels of popularity

Steadily getting there.

Average video about it gets 1 million.

it's not a jump scare simulator, relies more on a story and the game sessions are pretty short for lets plays, so I dont see it reaching FNaF levels of autistic popularity at least

who the fuck cares?

Is this game actually scary?

no, it's like babby's first horror game

No not really, decently fun idea though, but clunky

>6 dollars for 25 minutes

what the actual fuck?

At least telltale gives us 1:30 for 5

Well it's spooky, but the kind of spooky that kids can latch on to, and while the characters aren't inherently sexy, they are furry looking and therefor can be made to look as such, so it's got that all important furry bump.
The real determining factor is what the story is like. FNaF lives off of kids and speculators more interested in THE LORE than actual gameplay or individual plot elements. People keep coming back to it because they want to try and figure out its clusterfuck of a backstory. If this franchise wants to enjoy the same kind of popularity, it needs to be able to hook those kind of retards as well.
Another thing to consider is how regularly this game can update. For a while their the Undertale fandom was just as booming as FNaF's, but because that was a one and done deal, it slowly tricked away. Meanwhile, new FNaF games are being produced at an average of two per year, and while they sell less and less each time, any merch related to the franchise still sells out almost immediately, and fans have everything from gameupdates and sequels, to books and a movie deal to keep them interested.

They are a small studio that has got licences and other pricy shit to pay for, so they opted for that price per chapter so they'd be able to put them out faster

But yeah, it's still pricy for the length you get

take it to

catchy tune. don't have any interest in the game itself looking at gameplay that said.

i can see why it'd be popular with a younger group.

this is no joke tumblrs favourite game atm
how the fuck do you even find him scary

Bendy's cute, but even as an easily spooked person the game isn't scary

>people ship Bendy with Cuphead bc muh rubberhouse

That sounds awful

Obviously the OP

To be honest, I always thought that old style of animation was kind of creepy

youtube.com/watch?v=EOFA9kPQ_uU

I really liked a lot of what FNAF had going for it. Masterful tension building.

This... I don't get at all. I mean, it's not like the kids liked FNAF for its well executed horror atmosphere in the first place, but man.

I feel like this song is missing another verse.

>This... I don't get at all.
I think it's the unique theme.
FNAF was based around creepy Chuck-e-cheese animatronics.
Bendy is based around creepy early cartoons.
I mean, some of the early animations are quite creepy.
youtube.com/watch?v=VNttqN1wUMY

Why? The song hurts the ears and the animation and designs are bad.

Is Cuphead in development hell now? I haven't heard anything about it in over a year.

It was delayed for a mid-2017 release in Oct 2016.
studiomdhr.com/faq/

I can see how you could be scared by old cartoons. If I watched shit like "Swing, You Sinners" when I was a kid, it would have scared me.

At least the one girl is kind of cute.

>Make a horror game based on old Rubberhose cartoons
>Use FP 3D, where emotive and exaggerated animation is largely impossible

Good ideas but I feel chapter 2 was shorter than 1. Also the Game Over system is too harsh on mistakes making you start the entire chapter all over again.

I Imagine that the old chapters are gonna be updated as new ones come out.
For example, the new model Bendy has in Chapter 2 was added into Chapter 1.

With ya. People are too quick to overlook FNAF. The first game was pretty creative.

This just looks like Amnesia, though.

Much like FNAF its a short and uniqe deal. I... dont mind it that much actually. Horror as a genre is stale as fuck, im tired of SPOOOOKY ghosts and zombies in every game. Hopefully they dont run this to the ground with stupid sequels. Last checked FNAF turned it into an absolute mindfuck.

what the fuck is this thing?

This. It felt "real" in a way most horror games arent. Not realism, but versimilitude. Anyone who ever worked night shift can totally understand that eerie feeling, looking at empty halls and offices and listening to the tiny noises of the building in the silence. You know a spooky skeleton isnt going to jump out and its making even worse, you just feel the tension building. It was also absolutely believable that some rundown shithole would hire a nightguard like it. It felt REAL, like I just sat down to the desk, ate some leftover pizza, drank a coffe and got ready for my shift and there is this robot fuck leering in the door. I noped the fuck out so hard. The usual videogamey feel I get in other games exploring haunted houses and abandoned buildings was completely gone

Some sort of cartoon devil/demon.
I thought it was some sort of Warner sibling at first.

>FNAF is creative
>it's JUST Amnesia
I know people have different taste and that's alright and all, but c'mon man.

I like the character of bendy. Hes got a cute design as a lil steamboat demon. But i fear the next chapter is gonna ruin it and make it edgy af.

so its a music video?
because thats all i can find on google

It's fanmade music video as a tribute to the video game.
Bendy and the Ink Machine.

Really? I watched ManlyBadassHero play it a while ago and thought it looked neat with the old cartoon aesthetic, though the "monster" looked fucking stupid. This isn't really the place to talk about it though.

But it is.

Unpopular opinion: I like Living Tombstone's over-produced style.

>video games having an amazing year so far
>kids cling onto this shit
God.

Never thought this had enough sticking power for the kids and teens. It's not the same kind of scary that something like FNaF was so I don't understand. I can just never gauge what's gonna be popular anymore.

People who get hate boners over popular things and don't know how to deal with it. It's a sad and depressing life for them when all they can do is get pissy over things they don't care for but a large amount of people like.

Whoa hey you just described 90% of Sup Forums.

>old style of animation
>creepy

Man, Tombstone is still a talentless hack.

People on here need to learn to chill

Bendy's an alright game. Wouldn't buy it. Otherwise it's not really noteworthy to me.

>people ITT saying FNAF was scary

I thought Sup Forums was 18+?

Just watch a bunch of "compilation" and "meme" videos and you see what's the new trend among kids and teens.
youtube.com/watch?v=rQ4Tv6qtqrQ

Sadly it's not the kids/teens who choose what they like, but rather the youtubers/streamers leading them.
youtube.com/watch?v=ICrcySP0v_k

>watched the longplay now
>atmosphere is 9/10
>no gameplay detected

such a shame

So true. The atmosphere is super good but it's barely a "game."

Didnt some newgrounds flash series do this exact same concept?

If Dating Sims and Visual Novels can be considered 'games', then 'horror' games such as this, Slender, and whatever else have you can be considered games as well

>"WHY ARE YOU SO GOOD AT ANIMATING??!"

There was only one 2 second part that looked alright. It mostly just looks like what you'd see on early NG

Its not even a good puzzle game. The tasks are banal collect 6 things and simon says instead of actually figuring things out. You know, as in a puzzle. The forced "action" sequences with the ink monsters are the worst, they seem really easy and boring and completely kill the atmosphere the game worked so hard to build up.

It's Dear Esther all over again

oc Sup Forums made for epic mickey & its concept art was scarier than anything in bendy

its not meant to be OOGA BOOGA scary, but a steady, unsettling, derealizing tone

What happened with that one?

How about that one horror game with the neighbor? What do people think of that one?

They don't, they want to fuck him probably.

Well that was catchy i give him that

From what I can gather the game is about a Walt Disney stand in who is chasing Bendy that starts during the golden age of cartoon and ends at a dark future. So Cal Arts?

Anyone feel this thing would be better as 30 or 40 min short that explain you the story?

>over-produced

How so?

It's probably one of the few games like these with a song based on it that isn't complete cringe

youtube.com/watch?v=3qZGVNkJbq4

It could be made into a good game, it just needs very good pacing and execution. Horror is hard to pull of because everyone compains about clichés while expecting the same clichés pulled off well. A single jarring fuckup and you already shaked people out of the spooked mood the atmosphere lulled them into. You basically just have to enable people to build up scary stories and theories in their heads whats going on and let them spook themselves.

Also, the game came off really "tryhard" with that guy worshipping cartoons, no subtlety at all. When I saw the pentagram I literally winced. He could have been built up as this crazy boss so much better.

There was a big debate about whether it can be called a game because there is no gameplay or obstacle or such.

In the end, I think it boils down to people taking the semantics behind the word "game" a bit too seriously. It was very nice discussing different interpretations of what people saw back when it came out. Of course, the threads back then attracted a healthy amount of shitposters or idiots trying to disrupt those threads.

FNAFags are so starved for content they're latch onto anything

It's kind of weird how they have to make music remixes of every single horror game.

My problem with Bendy is that it feels like it is set in a Roger Rabbit type of world and thus is already pretty unbelievable to me on top of the lackluster visual design.

She has pretty big tits for a toon.

What i really liked about FNAF was 2 things the animatronics idea, because that shit is truly scary and theorizing lore, because it's kinda fun to put together pieces of the story, but the guy keep making games while giving a fuck about the story for money, so it's not fun anymore, also every fuckers just believes what that guy on youtube says

>is already pretty unbelievable

As long its internally constant its okay, there is a lot of scary stuff to do with living cartoons if you start exploring the ramifications. Even though would have liked something about cartoons seeping into real life or weard dreamlike sequences too, just for the juxtaposition.

>on top of the lackluster visual design.

Come the fuck on now.

But it is lackluster. Or maybe that's the wrong word. I just find it weird how this is supposed to be an animation studio when it looks more like a wood workshop.

>this qualifies as "entertainment" to kids
Jesus

>The forced "action" sequences with the ink monsters are the worst
at least you can chop them with da choppa.
I expected it will go with Penumbra/Amnesia/Outlast style where you can only hide from monsters.

I keep seeing him with that tail that pisses me off. I don't see it in the game but in everything else he has one. What is this tomfoolery?

Don't pretend that you didn't like stupid shit when you were a kid.

I actually played games as a kid.

About Standard for that era. Looks to be about the same size as Betty Boop.

That is exactly why its shit. Its clunky and not even good action gameplay just something they tacked on.

Imagine how better and more fitting mechanic would be if you have to carefully tiptoe around ink puddles to not wake them up. Make thems senstive to noise, to accidentally walking on them, etc.

Its the Amnesia style game. Not much actual gameplay but leans heavy on the atmosphere and story.

The last horror game that actually had something new when it came to gameplay was Tattletale. Although it wasn't really all that scary.

Get this shit out of here OP, Cuphead is the superior toon-game that actually has some animation.

that's a couple more things that need programming to work that way. Maybe that could happen later as it progresses.

If it ever comes out.
Until then, fuck you Cuphead.

Well maybe it it finally gets released this year.

You can tell that the music is all digital.

Coming out any day now, right?

Don't worry guys, it'll come out mid-year for sure
R-right?

porn wise
I do like Cuphead better

Lets just say its a good thing this wasn't Kickstarted or else Gaming Media would be dumping all over it.

>pushing the game to make it look better
The same shit happen to Mighty No.9.

They could just left it out altogether. It adds nothing to the game.

Probably just an underlying mechanic from the engine and they wanted to see how it worked.

Depending on Reception they could likely drop it come chapter 3 and future releases.

they would would latch onto anything if it had a "hidden" story, not if it was a horror game.

None of them talk about RE7 which is done very well and has a hidden story. But its not a corruption of something cute I guess.
