I could probably deal with all the other stupid bullshit in this movie but the one thing that boggles my mind the most is that they kept the character whose actress died in real life and killed off the other fan favourite character whose actor is still alive, and not only that, but still enthusiastic about playing his character.
Like, I could force myself to dismiss the other forced political agenda bs, but the only reason I can think of that they did this is because "muh feminism".

They probably felt it'd be in bad taste to kill Leia off just because Carrie is dead.

You're assuming Luke won't be around as a force ghost in episode 9

True, and it's pretty likely. But if that's the case I doubt he'll be able to do much besides give Rey and/or Kylo advice.

...

Imagine being able to watch a film and appreciate the story told on the screen instead of sperging out over how the production process, out of universe goings on, what the actors are like in real life etc. shaped the result. I see this all the time with retards - it's like an insecurity thing, too embarrassing to accept the submissive role of audience.

I kind of wanted to see him in a proper mentor/teacher role anyways.

Yeah, that was the plan. Killing Luke might not have kept him off screen, but it takes him out of the action.

That's exactly why and when you kill off a character, not reanimate their likeness so that you can cash in despite their actor's death.

who is going to complain about that

I honestly thought it was going to be the clean way to kill her off
Make her fade off into the force and it freaks Kylo and Luke out at the same time
Hell use it to explain other things
>Force Connection between Rey and Ren
>She was tracking both Rey and was aware of Ren
>She tried to tell her plan to Hodo but only the keep going forward part is conveyed. Admiral Tumblr will obey this dying wish no matter what not knowing about the planet until they see it, making her unable to tell anyone the plan
>Luke realizes he really will be the last skywalker setting off his willingness to train Rey which he goes back and forth on
>The spot of clarity Ren needed to keep hidden to kill Snoke came from his mother and gave him power. Then he once again discards it when he no longer needs it making all seem lost

>still enthusiastic about playing his character
If you're talking about Hamill, i'm not 100% sure on that.

I see it as a Rian movie but Disney influence. It's a good movie.

He was until the script for Episode 8.

It isn't.

Right but that's the point, he would have been if they didn't fuck up his character like this.

>a good movie.
nigga are you serious? were you drunk?

>she's dead
>just use CGI
>don't need to give her paycheck
it's exactly because she's dead.

They're not going to CGI Carrier Fisher in episode IX. Carrie Fisher died more than six months after filming on TLJ wrapped, the movie wasn't affected at all by her passing.

dude, what if he fights another force ghost? could be really cool, him against Anakin

>They're not going to CGI Carrier Fisher in episode IX

Ohhh, they will. Screencap this. She's not gonna die offscreen

I heard from somewhere that they've saved some footage from this one to use in Episode IX.

I thought they might have filmed parts of her to use in the new film, I thought her dying in space was a pefect way out but she had quite a few lines after so I can see why they didnt want to throw it all away, she had to womansplain Holdo's stronk independent womaning

they used the audiences knowledge of Carrie Fisher dying IRL as a means to do a 'fake out' death. Totally shameful.

the movie on several occasions deliberately attempted to subvert your expectations and go look we didn't do that

if they want to do something unique, court marshal and execute Poe for repeatedly disobeying orders, getting everybody killed and staging a mutiny

at the same time they had a string of deus ex machina moments to keep the major characters out of trouble

Pretty much this

Force ghosts can interact now.

its so sad how this scene could have worked by just having kylo ren who was fucking there save her life, since he hesistated firing on the ship in the first place because he knew she was there

but lolnope leia's a jedi now THE FORCE IS FEMALE

It's what they wrote. She had finished filming all her parts. I don't like what they wrote either, but if you think they should.chamge what was written just because of.tjings outside their control you are an enemy of cinema. Go back to watching television if you want something that changes every week based on external circumstances.

just turn ur brain off am i rite

THEY LITERALLY RIPPED OFF BATMAN VS SUPERMAN FOR THIS SHIT!!!

I don't know what you're referring to, if anything

>just ignore how fucking stupid it is and consume it you fucking goyim

>character doesn't show any force abilities.
>somehow she's able to keep herself alive and fly to safety by using the force
It's retarded

...

She's used the Force plenty of times. She sensed when Luke was in trouble, had dreams/visions of Padme, knew when Han died, and felt it when Kylo Ren was nearby debating whether to fire at her. Also, she was floating in space, so she wouldn't even need to use the Force that strongly to be able to pull herself over.

>being force sensitive means you know how to use it

it was just a sixth sense

10/10

Is it really that hard to believe that Leia Skywalker, a member of one of the most powerful Force sensitive families in history, wouldn't be able to use the Force to some degree?

considering real characters like Anakin and Luke had to receive training before they could use their force powers

yes, yes it is

>Carrie's last scene is one of the worst scenes in the movie, possibly the whole series
I hate the mouse so fucking much.

>were
Seems like youre drunk buddy

So who's to say Luke never taught her at least basic shit? Like I said, it wouldn't be that hard to pull yourself through space with the Force.

>she was taught to be a jedi offscreen

desperate

>putting words in my mouth
Delusional

>So who's to say Luke never taught her at least basic shit?
Why not tell us that this happened then? Or better yet, show us that this happened?

It's literally what you're saying happened fuckwad

:^)

To Disney's defense, they didn't mean to kill Carrie. But that's what you get hiring second hand help.

The movie was filmed before she died.

Yeah, it'd be a pretty good way to kill off the character, too bad they picked keeping her and carrie died.

It had been theorized for years that Leia might also have force powers because she was Anakin's daughter after all.

I don't understand why they would do a fake out death on an important character who's actress actually died? Why would they include that in the movie? What did they gain? Just don't even HAVE her get blown up.

>theorized

it's been EU canon. There are even videogames where she is featured as a Jedi.

youtu.be/a_fqWxhTCmo?t=1233

>Luke did I ever tell you about Fast Paulwalker? He was the best Drag racer on the strip, and he was a good friend. And I'll tell you all about it when I see you again.

She also used the force in TFA.

That was an alternative story of a DLC you deepshit

>kill all lovable male characters even admiral ackbar
>keep the actual real life dead woman because muh feminism

Feminists are literally hoisting Carrie's corpse up on a stick out of spite while killing off all the males in fiction.

This is an actual 10/10 meme

I like the mashup of SuperLeia with the hyperdrive kamikaze, personally.

Erik Bauersfeld, Admiral's voice actor, died last year you dumbass. Meanwhile they managed to finish filming Carrie Fisher's scenes before she died. Get it now retard?

>fan fiction

Why didn't they just CGI his face in like they did in Rogue One?

Oh wait it's a fucking costume, you mongoloid.

only a retard would think that

I guess I imagined all of these feminist articles popping up everywhere about the filthy stinking patriarchy taking a blow from the movie or how their deliberately trying to force powerful female characters to the forefront at the expense of the male characters.

Improve your reading comprehension. They should have changed it because it's bad, not because she died as OP suggested

Underrated

...

Goalpost shifting shit eater

I said voice actor you dipshit.

Your movie sucked Rian.

Nonsense, obviously he will have the power to blow up their favorite trees.

It's not a meme you dumb fucking redditor. It's an image

You're a fucking faggot.

I can hear the vigorous hand rubbing from here.

>still enthusiastic about playing his character
I don't know about that. Hamill was pretty butthurt about Luke for a while now. He got super pumped to be in SW again, only to discover that he will in the first movie for only one scene, and now he is openly disappointed about the direction they took Luke's character in. That's twice they fucked him over, I doubt he retained his enthusiasm.

just have her fade away at the same time as luke
it's dumb but this film is filled with dumb shit and people would defend it

Did you actually read what you just wrote?

I am so sick of people thinking that "subverting" cliches and expectations inmediately adds some positive value. What's the point of the writers going "bet you didn't see that one coming ;)" if everything else about the movie/show is absolutely terrible?

Any seasoned Garbologist would know this franchise isn't worth salvaging. As Kylo said: Let it Die, senpai.

>it wouldn't be that hard to pull yourself through space with the Force.

I assume you've done that before.

Are you fucking retarded? Wait, you already answered that with your post.

The only convincing replacement for Fisher is Bruce Jenner.

The series is already fucked, so why not go out in the most tone-deaf way possible?

i.4cdn.org/wsg/1513293591370.webm
The problem is much worse.

And??

You can just hire anyone close to his voice and fix the pitch in post.

Nice try there, Rian

Haha! Gotcha! Jenius Johnson strikes again!

Bullshit, Yoda ghost summoned lightning out of the fucking sky.

Your a fucking person who speaks the truth

Well fuck you at least I can say "Well fuck you at least I can say "Well fuck you at least I can say "Fuck you at least I can say"""

When you start the whole idea for the trilogy with "we're gonna recreate an old trilogy" you are so fucked with the creative thinking that it's gonna die from the start.

>Kill Han in TFA
>Kill Luke in TLJ
>Keep Leia even though Fisher has absolutely no charisma nor talent, just because The Force is Female
>Fisher dies irl

the absolute state of Kathleen Kennedy

“Well, I’m still in denial,” Hamill joked.
>“I just think he transported somewhere else.”
>“The first thing I said was,
>‘Can’t you wait and do this in Episode IX?’”

Disney probably feared that people would think its disrespectful to the actor to just replace him. All the same, I agree that they should have gotten someone new in if necessary and kill off the character with much more recognition.

Luke will be back as a force ghost. Duh.

He didn't die, he ascended to nirvana, just like Obi Wan Kenobi and Buhdda.

My favorite part of the movie is the SJW feminist admiral with the problematic hair.

Really? I would have rather had the entire Rose character cut, and had the Casino bit focused on Finn and DJ discovering the underbelly of the Star Wars Military Industrial complex, which could tie into how the next iteration of the Resistance is formed

I find it pretty sexist that they passed up the opportunity to let her be the first female force ghost. Are they saying women are incapable of ascending to a higher plane of existence?

didn't watch the movie
what happened in this scene?

If it weren't for CGI they would have exhumed her remains and paraded her corpse like a puppet before the camera.

She gets sucked into space and dies.

Except she doesn't, after floating in space unconscious for over a minute, she lifts her hand and sours back inside like Superman.

Couldn't possibly spoil this horrifying scene.

Leia Flies through space with just her clothing on

Lol surviving in a vacuum unprotected but the force rite

"Who's to say" is recognized as a non legitimate logical query, who's to say you don't chug miles of cock
