yea they replaced kyle and jan with these faggots

I will never not be mad about this.

>a lightsaber
And a freakin bryar pistol please

after the Last Jedi we can easily say Kyle Katarn was a more powerful jedi than Luke

especially if you g_saberrealisticcombat 1

>Jedi act as Imperial thugs for centuries, become diluted and make wrong choices
>Obi Wan and Yoda are part of the problem, repeatedly lie to Luke and Anakin, who eventually bring balance back to the Force by ending Jedi and Sith

>EU goes full meme and makes Luke bring back Jedi, which brings back Sith
>Di$ney goes full retard and brings back Sith while destroying Luke for no reason

Disney could have easily reworked the EU, keeping great characters and stories, but bringing in their new heros and villans.

Make the New Trilogy about rebuilding and Recovery from civil war and revolution and collapse. Rey and Finn and Poe all having to find their way in the aftermath. Luke finding a new way etc.

They took the centralization that the EU needed and handed it to craven business suits who didn't give a shit.

Fuck, those cutscenes were so good. I literally thought I was watching a Star Wars movie. And there were even weird new ship designs that were totally in line with the OT. Please tell me it still holds up.

Well, instead of trying to kill a student corrupted by the Dark Side in his sleep, Katarn actually faced one in a fair fight (sure, it's a non-canon ending of a now non-canon game, but at least it made sense in-universe).

Anyone is more powerful than Luke Soywalker.

But you will 100% get one about a female doing the exact same thing sweetie. :)

>some no one orphan living in some shithole planet is accepted as an apprentice of a mysterious old man and they go exploring the galaxy as we learn more of the Force/Dark Side and the political institutions from the perspective of some nobodies at ground level
Literally the only way to do an interesting SW franchise right now

> "Mission to Tatooine successful. Imperial recruiters have been rousted as planned. Imperial resistance greater than anticipated – please adjust pay accordingly."
based katarn

JUST

>exploring the galaxy
I can forget about the PC shit Disney is pushing, but getting rid of this part is what kills it for me. Disney Wars feel incredibly small, there's no Galaxy anymore.

That would be great, but we won't.

The Eternal Mouse won't release anything that isn't toy marketing tested and polished by an entire committee of rich, idot 50 year olds who went to film school

This. I don't mind getting an Atomic Blonde set in Star Wars universe, discovering the darkest worlds of the Outer Rim. We get a poorly made heist plot in a fucking Monte Carlo instead, populated solely by humans, who're supposed to be a minority in the universe.

>I can forget about the PC shit Disney is pushing, but getting rid of this part is what kills it for me.

This.

Finn is actually potentially a great character, and Rey could be if they just gave her some actual story background.

Just put them on a new adventure. Give them a fucking point.

Disney made them blow up the Bigger, Lens Flared Death Star and fight the Bigger, Shadowier Sith Lord.

There's an entire fucking galaxy and they have made no alien friends in two films.

Op I honestly don't like your idea. When I eat I like to keep salty foods away from sweet foods and I don't like sweet meats. You may call me autistic but I like to keep "Space Opera Fantasy Western with Lightsaber WWII dogfights giant miniature models explosion" and "neo noir cyberpunk posthuman police procedural " separated
Though I understand when a franchise is kept running for too long it's necessary for it to cross genre but I still want them separated

the real problem is we are never going to get good writing, no matter the kind of story being told

>Finn is actually potentially a great character
A stormtrooper turned rebel, considered a bad person by both sides as a result, learning the ways of Force and trying to atone. It takes a talent to fuck up a plot like this

I won't call you autistic, because essentially this is what Star Wars is (you forgot to mention Samurai though). But I think it would be exciting to see the dirty, non-epic part of the universe as well, because we know for sure it exists.

There are dirty non epic bars and urban night lives it's just how you present it.
And I don't like detective carting a sword

20 fucking years ago I got Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight as a Christmas present. Had a shitty IBM Aptiva with a 120mhz Pentium processor, but no 3D card. So the game kinda looked like shit, but it was still so good.

Let him go user, he's not "real" anymore.

so we all agree that a collection of NEET dipshits on a Polynesian child actress image board could write a better story than the Mouse?

Rich Evans had a great rant about that on a Half in the Bag episode. Think it was the Rogue One episode. But yeah, basically the series stopped expanding to play it safe.

>Male lead

never going to happen

My nigga

I really feel shitty about the EU. Him, Thrawn and the Yuuzhan Vong war feel much more real than the shit I'm being fed by Disney. I can't let go of this franchise. I guess I have to.

At least the NEETs care about this strange thing called "continuity"

I don't know much about the EU, but Kyle was freaking great. I wish we could get a movie about him instead of the Han Soylo one.

NEVER TRUST A BARTENDER WITH BAD GRAMMAR

Bartender?

Goddamn I loved the Dark Forces saga.

Still holds up pretty well

I would prefer getting a bullet instead of anything Disney shits out.

Most reddit description I've heard all day.

jedi knight would make an amazing movie, too bad its not canon

>return of the jedi
>no no he wanted to end the jedi
Fuck you

Kino

Disney Wars would be better, if Rey was a sidecharacter, Finn was force-sensitive and the movies followed a buddy cop dynamic between him and Poe.

>Rey
>sidecharacter

not gonna happen

Its still great but is a pain to get working well on modern systems
Dark forces 1 and 2 both have the Original Trilogy Vibe to them being made before the prequels were a thing

They don't really hold up IMO. The acting is porn-tier and the special effects are atrocious.

I have the Steam versions and they seem to work alright.

They should probably start with decent screenwriters

>LOCKED
>it's locked
>LOCKED

I'm playing Dark Forces for the first time now, and despite the aged graphics it still has an incredible atmosphere. Those guys knew what they were doing.

I really hate them.
