Attract GoT audience and sell action figures

They wasted her and I'll never forgive them

attract the femdom fetish audience

Merchandise

She's toyetic. People like her because she looks cool. Just like Boba Fett, who got iced by a blind man.

She'll make a good limited edition funko pop for us Star Wars fans to buy amirite fellas?

Back in the 1990s Lucas developed the multi-faceted multi-media marketing campaign with Shadows of the Empire which served as a testbed
With it they can produce tons of spin of merchandise and story material by introducing into a film a character that has a lot of foreshadowing and portence but does little and is seen briefly
People scramble to ask who was that what was that about
And along comes the spin off comics and books and games
There are characters from the prequels that have tons of this shit
Phasma is another example in the new trilogy

>What purpose did Phasma have?
Beat the hell out of Finn, then died in a cool way by falling from the ship.

To sell toys and bring in GoT fans because Hollywood execs always assume people watch other properties that people are in strictly for those people.

she isn't dead shut up

To get BLACKED

lol

She had superior feet to any other SW starlet, but you never get a chance to see her space beauty rituals

>Less than three weeks before the movie began principal photography, Kasdan and Abrams still had several key roles to cast as they brought the actors who had been hired to London to participate in the film’s first table read. A photo from that session quickly made its way online, and while Star Wars fans were thrilled to see actors like John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, and Domhnall Gleeson had been added to the cast, only one new actress was pictured at the table read — Daisy Ridley, as the film’s new lead Rey — and that didn’t offer much for a big-screen franchise that can boast less than a handful of significant female characters. “Hey Star Wars,” said a peeved io9.com headline, “Where the Hell Are the Women?”

>It was around that time that Kasdan and Abrams, who were still attempting to cast Phasma (and, it’s rumored, had been talking to Benedict Cumberbatch for the role), had their gender-flipping brainstorm. “Everything was happening simultaneously,” Kasdan told me. “When the idea came up to make Phasma female, it was instantaneous: Everyone just said, ‘Yes. That’s great.’”

BREHS

To sell toys and muh feminism. Nothing else.

To sell toys

Sell toys

Shiny Stormtrooper action figures!

>no female stormtroopers or commanders in the employ of the empire or rebellion in the prequels or OT
>suddenly they occupy the highest ranks of the Nu-Order and Rebellion and are among the best fighters

How does this all happen in < 30 years? Why is it never addressed? Can we just get one scene of a disgruntled stormtrooper or resistance fighter talking about how fucked this feminist galaxy is and how they are tired of getting bossed around by blue haired or giant dykes?

Literally,
>1. To sell merchandise
>2. To get the female audience.
There's no plot-related reason. This is all the Disney suits think about.

What purpose did Unjun-Dobble-Kluutsch Mil Saquackle have?

Why on earth did they think Phasma would become a thing on level of Boba Fett or something when she's just recoloured stormtrooper?

she looks pretty cool, and has a cool voice. Also has a sexy walk

I think it's more that they can sell the same toy twice by just giving it a different colour and a few accessories.

this is where it all ended
pop culture references have no place in Star Wars

She was originally going to be one of the Knights of Ren. But now that they completely dropped the Knights of Ren, they dropped her. Into lava.

? She wasn't going to be a knight of ren

see its a literal marketing plan they have codified and written down

cool suit

This. You people don't understand. This movie is not about Star Wars fans, it's about numale soyboy fags and females. Who do you think likes Brienne and the GOT seasons after season 4.

is this from a ps2 game?

To give cool no-force user fight and she did her job well.

toys

but buddy i din't see anyone flipping and slashing 6 glow sticks through the air in front of a greenscreen?

>goddamn son

To virtue signal having strong female characters without having them actually do anything important. Twice.

I would say sell toys but they made her a woman.

sell toys to girls

Dude, c'mon. Her fight with Finn was entertaining and shot properly. Colors, movent, pasing - everything was on a good level. It should be longer, IMO.

She's literally wearing Driver's hand-me-downs. The armor was designed and built for Kylo Ren, them that design was ditched in favour of the Edgelord of the Sith design. Since it looked so nice, it was repurposed, someone close to Driver's height was cast, with added appeal for equality points, and the script was remodeled to change several nameless First Order Officers into Phasma.

Fun fact: Boba Fett is also a character that only exists because the prototype looked so good - he would have been an all-white "Supertrooper" before they repainted it.

oh my god is that Gwen??

leftist agenda propaganda

Bow before Brienne the Beauty.

That was sarcasm obviously

Who is this guy

boba fett clone

DUDE 21st century BOBA FETT LMAO

be the new boba fet, except they fucked it up and made her a clown instead.

>not making her a antagonist in rogue one sequels
>killing off less story more action movies that play a big roles in the actual main movies by showing kino star wars operators, helping out mary sue in the background

phasma has no mystique to her, shes just a clown that fucks everything up.

Even her helmet has a dumb grin going on.

...

They don't need her for that. Remember TR8-R?

Diversity porn and merch.

Watch as she comes back in IX.

I always felt they were trying to force a new boba fett with her, looking cool, small part but it didnt work in the first movie so they stepped it up in the second which dont get me wrong I thought the f ight was pretty cool but cant get past the STRONK WOMEN vibe Rian is trying to force on me

>ywn get to touch those pale smelly feet

literally the most J U S T character in the series

To get destroyed by Finn's BBC.

I've just read an interview, and it's implied that Phasma will return AGAIN.

I am sure JJ Abrams thought she had a purpose. But the new crew wanted to tell a story about evil white men in the new order. Can't have a stronk womyn with them. Ruins the narrative. She had to go!

To sell toys.

strong independent woman

To sell toys. Imagine having to defend this shit movies

>cast a woman
>make her job constantly

lmao

"ara-ara you wouldnt be interested in an old lady like me right?"

all the men on both sides killed each other and died
leave it to the women to hold a grudge well after the Emperor is dead

i was actually into this character when i first learned about her and liked the fact that she was a female for some reason. it just felt cool. then they didnt utilise her at all instead we got a conveyor belt of POC characters that are hardly developed at all. so stupid
