>It'll only make most the money instead of ALL the money

>Diversity Wars: The Falling of Profits

Oh no it will only make 1,5 billion dollars!!!
Tvpol wins!!

It won't even make that, It's doing worse than Jurassic World and Avengers, give it max 1.3 billion, at max.

Oh nooooooo!!!
Only this much?‘
Ohhhhhhhhh noooooooooooooooo!,!

>second highest opening weekend of all time

DISNEY IS FUCKING FINISHED DISNEYSHILLS BTFO THE MOUSE IS DEAD

OH NO NO NO NO

Not even close ahahahahaha

>Oh NO
>We're only going to make 1.5 billion dollars
>What ever are we going to do!!!!!!

Till next year

BvS had a hugely front-loaded opening weekend, too. The real story on this film is how many go back to see it again. It's not 5000 le russian bots, it's genuinely split the fanbase.

This movie won't suffer like BvS did, but ... I think it'll do Iron Man 3-AoU numbers.

Do you faggots even realize how much this movie cost to make?

It needs $800mn worldwide just to break even. it needs $1.4bn+ to be considered a success. It will never touch the $2bn that TFA made and its net profit was close to $800mn. Rogue One just one year later made a total of $1.01bn and flopped hard in China.
Most financial analysts are saying the region of $980mn-1.3bn. China will be the deciding factor when it releases there at the start of next month.

It's not reaching Force Awakens levels but
>tanking
too big to fail user

OH NONONONONONONONONO

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

>its totally fine that ticket sales are lower than the last star wars
ok then

Underporfm is the correct term.

>A megacorp is just happy to make money and not reach projected profits

It's going to grow on people, such a bold movie is not an easy one to digest.

It'll make it's money. But the Han solo movie and other spin off's are gonna feel the wrath

How much money is he gonna make from Avatar 2,3,4 and 5? The money from the first avatar basically funded all the sequels and then some.

All are being filmed right now(2 and 3 since September with 4 and 5 to begin next summer) to start being released in 2020 onwards. After the end of the nu-SW trilogy and competing with the last standalone star wars film.
Im hyped for 2. It's gonna feature a lot of underwater using real footage Cameron took of the Marianas Trench during his lone dive a few years back.

>TLJ got 21.6M in day
>TFA got 40.1 in week

state of russian anti-shills

Soon, China.
Soon.

What is the projected number with advertising user? I'm genuinely curious.

...

He would really need to sell me on buying a ticket to Avatar 2. I personally thought Avatar 1 was trash and looks like a PS4 pro game.

The antagonist was garbage and their final showdown was uninspired schlock. The movie really had no payoff and Sigourney Weavers lipstick bothered me.

>hire a vietnamese actor to appeal to chinese
Is Disney retarded? This will only make them hate the movie more.

you're fucking retarded if you think that anybody at disney thought this would reach what the force awakens did

>weekday

Are you retarded or just fishing for (you)'s

>How much money is he gonna make from Avatar 2,3,4 and 5?
Isn't it done through Fox?
Doesn't that mean Disney will make all of THAT money, too?

Good.

Fuck Hollywood and fuck Jewish people

its better than SJW wars. I'll take it.
Plus the idea of an aquatic adventure with lots of underwater scenes interests me.

fishing m'lord

>he thinks Disney operates under the same expectations as the Mom and Pop shop down the road

Insider Info: Disney is on pins and needles right now with SW. They blew $4 billion on the license alone, and if TLJ was as much of a success as TFA they'd be barely breaking even. That's as successful as TFA. They need China to swing shit back to their favor.
>but the Han Solo movie
Look at the release date. Mouse has zero confidence in it.
>but the merchandise
Disney overproduced and undersold. They were banking on little girls buying toys, buying up the all the Rey and Leia shit. The little girls wanted their Rey costumes and lightsabers. THE GODDAMN MANCHILDREN BOUGHT MORE REY THAN THE INTENDED FUCKING AUDIENCE. The toys sold, but they're not selling good enough.

Rian Johnson isn't getting his trilogy.
The whole company from head to toe is full of swampy people, pedos. You have no idea how fragile Disney is. One accusation, and it's gg no re.

Disney isn't paying shills to be on here btw. They do pay for reddit shilling (and mods. Site is practically paid for by the "sponsors" kek), and redditors need a strong leader so they'll eat it up. Their site system is specifically designed to condition people to play up to the greater society scope. In this case, they're being demoralized to antagonize people that disagree with the Reddit Consensus. You're not seeing shills here, you're seeing demoalized useful idiots spreading their garbage like the plague.

Disney is freaking out about it, since their only moneymakers are MCU and ESPN. The same ESPN that's dying a slow death. Buying out Fox is a desperation move.

>of all time
Factor inflation before shillposting, you jew rat nigger

>21.6M in one day
>tanking
Lad...

Yeah but
>tanking
You have some weird perception issues.

There's a Deadline article that points out that most schools were out the week after TFA opened, so more kids were in theaters.

This week, most kids are still in school.

Whether you're an insider of not, most of this information is indeed true.

>itt mouseketeers using the same logic DC faggots used to defend BvS and JL numbers

under-perform

its not about money, its about sending a message

Avatar money goes in to the Disney pot too now.

how much costed this movie with the production + marketing?

Oh yeah I forgot kids have school Saturday to Sunday. Silly me

Disney had already made $6 billion from owning Star Wars through merchandising etc before TLJ released though. You're making shit up.

Box office is a fraction of the overall profit of this movie. Look at fucking Cars 2. That made $520m on a $200m budget, but the Cars franchise is one of the Mouse's most profitable because of the assload of cash it rakes in through merchandising. Corporate cares a lot more about getting people into the theme park and purchasing action figures and Lego sets than maxing out their box office receipts. I mean, of course it's better for these things to hit higher and higher numbers, and this thing not breaking a billion would mean that it will probably fail to drive merchandising, but the point is that the advertising on this movie isn't just for the movie. It sells all the merchandise, too.

>All are being filmed right now(2 and 3 since September with 4 and 5 to begin next summer) to start being released in 2020 onwards.

Wait. Those threads counting the days until Avatar 2 weren't a joke?

despite the flaws in tfa, i saw it multiple times. i was fucking falling asleep in the last jedi, when i wasnt cringing at the lame quips and illogical character behavior.

Yeah, in revenue.
>$6B in merchandising
>no mention of the massive shipping costs and manufacturing overhead as well as other expenses
TFA and R1 didn't sell toys well. Well below Disney's expectations. Disney's profit this quarter was on a decline until SW upticked confidence.

>For its fourth fiscal quarter, Disney had net income of $1.75 billion, or $1.13 a share, compared with $1.77 billion, or $1.10 a share, a year earlier. Revenue totaled $12.78 billion, a 3 percent decline.
See, disney loves to put out revenue because it's bigger. What looks more impressive, 13 b or 2 b? 13, duh.

>Disney’s usual bugbear, ESPN, was also a factor. Disney said its cable networks group, which includes ESPN and has historically served as a growth engine, had operating income of $1.24 billion, a 1 percent decline
NOT GOOD

Hey you know what else got an "A" from Cinemascore? Age of Ultron. You know what happened with Age of Ultron?

cinemablend.com/new/Why-Disney-Executives-Apparently-Think-Avengers-2-Was-Failure-80867.html

>Why Disney Executives Apparently Think Avengers 2 Was A Failure

$400 million. So break even is around $800.

forbes.com/sites/markhughes/2017/12/12/review-star-wars-the-last-jedi-is-a-gloomier-flawed-but-ultimately-successful-sequel/#64b9d1142e79

the shills are correct here. the mouse earned back their loss on acquiring lucas arts, but if solo sucks then theyve buried the franchise and hurt public trust in movies. this was that bad.

vote with your wallets and move on with your lives imo

400 millions for this shit it's to much, what was so expensive?

>>Disney had already made $6 billion from owning Star Wars through merchandising

How fucking dumb do you have to be to believe that this is the case when Disney's ENTIRE consumer products division has posted total profits of sub-$2b for the past few years?

>ignoring fixed costs of merchandising
>ignoring that only Kylo and Poe toys actually got shifted
>ignoring that production of their secondary Star Wars media like comics, books and Rebels is already slowing down
>ignoring that every blow to Star Wars decreases the automatic sales the brand gets
>ignoring that this reduces hype, which in turn reduces ancillary sales
>Ignoring that nobody is retarded enough to actually believe Disney had already made $6 billion from merchandise even if none of the above was true

tanking is a strong word for a movie that will ultimately be profitable.

if only we knew how to shitpost in cantonese

Has it.
The opportunity cost they'll face if they continue fucking up will be colossal, and if they overspend to fix it and still fuck up it might actually end up costing them

I saw that much in advertising alone during the "trailers" for TLJ. I think there were 3 movies and 16 Target ads.

Marketting and manufacturing merchandise cranks it up to 500 million (movie is 200 mill, rest is 300 mill), so they need at least 1 billion to break even.

Yeah well, Disney altered the deal with movie theaters and they are keeping 66% of the profit instead of 50%, so they will get even MORE money this time and make MORE star wars films for feminist 10 year old girls.

TFA's hype was unparalleled, no SW movie will ever make 2 billion again.

You're forgetting that
is True.
While this will be a hammer blow to their relations, it sadly means that they need less money to make this sack of shit float

It needs to make $800 million dollars worldwide just to break even. I'm sure $1.5 billion would still be seen as a failure by some at Disney.

I saw The Force Awakens at least two times in theaters.

I have no desire to see The Last Jedi again until the 4K UHD comes out.

disney paid lucas $4 billion for star wars

force awakens box office was $2 billion
rogue one was just over $1 billion
last jedi is currently at about 450 million

disney haven't even made a profit yet

>20 million is not a lot

i swear autists on Sup Forums are retarded

All the mouse shills say their one smug bullshit comment, get btfo and then go back to hiding under the magic rodents money testicles. Fucking pathetic

The one where lucas comes back will

Awful strawman.

disney dun goof'd, they thought that buying all the critics was the key to success but now they will literally have to buy RT and remove the user score feature of the site

>We at the Disney corporation decided to remove audience opinions from our website Rotten Tomatoes because critics know how to watch movies better than you fucking neckbearded crybaby faggot cunts

>will still make over a billion
>oy vey, my shekels are tanking

>thinking that box office gross = profit for disney

retard

see

Lucas isn't enough.
They need Lucas, some implicit guarantee that he'll have someone stopping him going full retard, a trailer showing John Williams not phoning it in, an early "leak" that it's an adaption of the Thrawn Trilogy that retcons NuWars and finally, a Mark Hamil free from Disney's lawyers ready to rip the ST a new asshole.

are you a dumb faggot? this is about MONDAY box office results

most schools don't start their break til this weekend

By the time the holidays come, it will be yesterday's news and most will already be spoiled
Some people might see it, but it won't have some major bounce back

No matter how much profit The Last Jedi makes, shareholders had smoke blown up their asses about "ANNUAL LINEARLY APPRECIATIVE REVENUE MODELS." An 11% decline from The Force Awakens and dropping is going to make them hot under the collar. Disney paid top dollar for Star Wars and it was supposed to become a yearly franchise like Marvel. If its crown jewel nostalgia-bait sequel trilogy starts taking on water, what does that say about Han Solo which by all accounts seems like a disaster? And all the other crap they have in the pipeline? And all the merchandise they want to sell? This is all so much bigger than just a couple flicks.

Dammit. The Russian hacker known as Sup Forums has hacked the box office.

I'll be interested to see if Disney threatens the critics for Solo to keep them in line like they did with TLJ.
Will they be willing to take a hit to make the next ST movie's coerced reviews seem more credible?

Nobody cares about Solo so I doubt it especially after the TLJ critic/audience fiasco.

Not but revenue /= profit.

Star Wars could make 6 billion in revenue but Disney had other shit that lost a lot of money and just regular costs and ultimately profits are sub 2 billion

I was going to start an essay about the twisted policy of putting shareholders on a pedestal and how consumerism and the society of spectacle and the increase in commodity fetishism has turned the SW from mildly capital with non-economical value attached to it to full blown every-movie-is-the-christmas special that has no value other than the price tag. Then I realized I'm not on /lit/, so fuck this and fuck Disney.

Star Wars is too big to tank over night. It'll take 4 or 5 years for profits to decrease and the over saturation to spread to the fringes of the casuals. Also you'll see a gravitation away from "nerd" lifestyle being so mainstream. Consumers will move on to something else I think.

*Not that user

This post is great.

I just hope the trump admin smites this disney merger under the prentense of antitrust issues.

lmao at all the disney shills in here
have fun crying that your sjw movie makes 1.5 billion instead of 2 lmao haha redpill wins again

Lucas redemption arc would be K I N O

upvoted

All the crap they can't sell from the force awaken still because it's fully of ugly unlikable characters. Go to target sometime and look at the shit they can't sell haha

It would be logical, but I'm not certain that Disney has enough of a long term goal mindset to consider that.
Especially if they're worried about making a Star Wars movie that can be used as target practise by the mainstream world.

>I just hope the trump admin smites this disney merger under the prentense of antitrust issues.
>Trump smiting something pro-mega conglomerate
PFFFFFFT

If anything, congress will reject the merger behind Trump's back, which will make him cry even more on Twitter than usual.

none of lucas film ever breaks 2 bil

>literally you right now

The critics don't matter, just look at TLJ, even normies figured it out. This trick worked for TFA, but people woke up.

Lets hope Trump has a fallout with foxnews, or Kathleen Kennedy triggers his revenge drive. The fucker has nearly killed espn through shit posting

>"ANNUAL LINEARLY APPRECIATIVE REVENUE MODELS."
What kind of retard expects to be able to produce the same thing every year and make more money each time?

I guess capeshit does, and Fifa, and Call of Duty.

pirates of the carribean was disneys and critics absolutely abhor yagsparow
