Seriously, why didn't Holdo tell Poe her plan? Was it because he was a fucking white male? Was it because Poe was demoted and didn't have the authority to talk to Holdo?
How could she have handled the situation in a way that wouldn't lead to a mutiny? Is Holdo to blame for the massacre of resistance fighters as they try to escape the ship?
She was being arrogant. The whole point of her story is that she's wrong, but so was Poe. They had to meet somewhere in the middle. She paid dearly for her mistakes with her life.
Cameron Torres
I mean, her story is being parroted as a stronk wamyn standing up to mansplaining, so who knows
Parker Jackson
The delusion of this website in general is ridiculous. People actually think companies pay them to post things on this website.
How stupid do you have to be?
Bentley Moore
Bump. Apparently she was a badass leader in the books. Why didn't any of that seem to carry over in the movie?
Jayden Harris
People at the top of the chain of command do not have to explain themselves to people near the bottom of the chain, those people should shut the fuck up and follow orders.
Noah Watson
So you're entire leadership just got obliterated, you're on your last leg limping away from TFO, morale is low, and your ex-top pilot has concerns. Do you think a good leader would:
A) Diffuse the situation by being transparent to the entire crew (maybe in an announcement over the comms) B) Tell anyone with doubts to fuck off and allow doubt to fester, ultimately leading to an attempted mutiny?
Owen Wilson
poe has no right to question his commanding officer like that, you need to listen to your superiors and follow the chain of command.
no surprise the resistance has such a shit tier hierarchy and gets btfo
Caleb Gutierrez
He wasn't even given a chain of command to follow. He was just put in timeout.
Ryder Kelly
Because the books exist purely to salvage Disney's abortions by putting in what they're missing.
Dylan Nguyen
The only reason I could have thought why she was being so secretive about the plan was that maybe she was thinking there were first order spies in the resistance and thats why they were being tracked through hyper space. Until of course they just came out and said the FO just have that technology now and then it became nonsense why she was being secretive other than to create some sort of conflict for the plot
Alexander Walker
>Admiral Holdo holding information
Christian Parker
The resistance was literally born because Leia disagreed with the New Republic disarmament policy.
Easton Jackson
Poe is more likely near the top half of the chain of command considering there were only 250 resistance fighters left and he was, until demotion i guess, a captain
Nathaniel Powell
this
would you rather have Admiral Holdo or Admiral Talko?
She was a self-insert in those books. Look up the author.
Cooper Adams
but you are the only one who brought it up in this thread
are you mental?
Isaac Reyes
t. woman, a leader needs to prove themself, not rest on their authority.
Connor Cooper
This right here. Holdo did nothing in the movie to prove she was capable of saving everyone. She just made a speech and proceeded to play power politics.
Angel Myers
Admiral Hodor was the worst part of the movie
Adam Evans
The funniest thing is that she didn't even have to tell Poe her plan. All she needed to do is tell him that there was a plan in place, and to sit tight. Fuck this movie desu.
Austin Allen
>Poe >White
Gavin Powell
Because the script needed filler so they had Poe go on a pointless mutiny to attempt to develop his character. It's called contrivance.
Xavier Hernandez
Thank you for this
Jaxon Brooks
I'm guessing because he both didn't need to know because of demotion and because it's possible that there was a mole on the ship telling the FO their location. Granted, this wasn't mentioned, but it would make sense.
Connor Jenkins
...
Aiden Bell
Poe was a captain AFTER demotion. He was a commandant until then.
Oliver Cox
OP here >How could she have handled the situation in a way that wouldn't lead to a mutiny? Anyone got any ideas?
Jaxon Myers
Because the director was a man. Obviously. The next SW needs to be directed by a woman.
Wyatt Young
Holdo was a Vice Admiral and Poe was just busted down to Captain, seems obvious that he's subordinate to her.
Xavier Allen
>Officers we have a base waiting for the 's and untraceable transports >Ready your men to evacuate the ship >This is our only chance of survival
>Yes Ma' am
James Butler
Because hierarchy is awesome and you should never question authority.
Gabriel Cooper
Admiral>>>>>>>>>>Captain
She doesn't have to tell him shit and you're fucked in the head of you think subordinates should mutiny any time they feel like it.
She was a bad leader for not informing the teeny tiny crew of her plan while on death's doorstep, but he was straight up wrong.
Justin Walker
>she was a bad leader >it was wrong to mutiny fucking idiot
Ethan Hill
No leader should rely on muh hierarchy, especially in times of desperation. If there's dissent, it needs to be defused one way or the other. If that means locking the dissenters in the brig before things escalate, so be it. But you have to do SOMETHING!
Hunter Anderson
She had the reasonable suspicion they were being tracked by a spy on the ship
Grayson Jackson
Is there something to the plan I'm missing? He knew exactly what her plan was. There was no twist, they really were running away - Poe was just too much of a hothead to accept that until his plan failed.
Colton Martinez
So say so. Don't just leave your entire despairing crew in the dark.
Nolan Johnson
>So kids, what moral lesson do we learn from Poe's character arc? >Don't question authority! Yaaaaaay!
Jacob Ross
Never once in the movie does anyone suggest the possibility of a spy, they immediately assume correctly that the First Order has found a way to track through lightspeed.
Wyatt Perez
Yup, makes sense now. I actually like her Lost Stars book though, one of the few Nu EU novels I liked it.
Hunter Thomas
Poe thought her plan was to run away in shieldless ships in a last ditch attempt. In reality, her plan was to use their cruiser as a decoy while they hide on a planet and wait for TFO to pass by.
The plan Poe thought she had was udderly stupid.
The plan she actually had was brilliant.
To bad she did absolutely nothing to inspire confidence in the crew.
Jackson Parker
Wrong. It's don't question WOMEN's authority. And stop mansplaining.
Adam Green
She was a self insert for SJWs.
She makes the ultimate sacrifice to fight the evil patriarchy
Connor Edwards
They even explain everything to him when he wakes up, and agreed that it was a really good plan.
Why did they have to leave somebody behind on the ships is what I want to know. Couldn't they have left them on autopilot?
Jonathan Morgan
see The script demanded that Diane sacrifice herself for the greater good.
Benjamin Barnes
They left a man on the medical frigate and supposedly the supply ship as well
Brody Nguyen
She had no reason at all to keep her plan secret. But more importantly, why did Leah shoot Poe rather than simply explain it to him? Also, when did Leah get trained in the use of the Force?
William Williams
Women don't need to train in the force to become Force Jesus, it's the new canon.
Adrian Diaz
That is true, and of she had stopped at "We have a plan, you'll be briefed as necessary, get back to your station" it would have been fine. But she then escalated the situation by insulting Poe repeatedly. Keep in mind, she's calling pilots useless immediately after Poe just watched his entire airwing get blown up.
Now, it's true that officers aren't required to be polite to their subordinates. But you need to earn respect by demonstrating leadership. Insulting a popular officer in public immediately after he just watched his friends die is just shitty practices, Poe should have summarily executed her after taking control of the ship
Gavin Torres
Fucking this. She made one vague speech and otherwise said nothing about the plan, not even implying that she had the slightest clue what she was doing. Besides that she did everything in her power to lower the morale of her subordinates.
Anthony Cooper
No one needs "training" in the force. Luke's training from Yoda lasted like a day.
You become a professional by facing your fears and so on.
Asher Walker
Uh, actually, you need to be taken in early childhood to the Jedi Temple, where you spend at least ten years waving lightsticks around.
William Wright
Not it didn't. He trained for about a week or month in ESB, and he came back to finish his training before ROTJ. In the OT time passes between movies.
Alexander Campbell
There's only a mutiny if there's no faith in the leader.
Ryan Williams
I guess all those younglings in the prequels were just in some kind of daycare with glow-sticks. I guess Yoda was just fucking around when he told Luke he was too old to begin the training. You really got my noggin a joggin.
Andrew Jenkins
Look what happened after he figured out the final plan. He threw an autistic shit fit and told an untrusted outsider exactly how vulnerable they were.
He's the reason why 95% of the resistance got wiped out, and didnt stop the maverick suicide missions until his last half dozen pilots were being picked off Crait.
James Anderson
Wow she even has a Little halo in her head, like a saint. WTF
Wyatt Wright
YOU NEED TO OBEY BLINDLY BECAUSE THATS WHAT TRUE REBELS DO!
Jace Morgan
I would pound the shit out of that old skeleton broad with my penis.
Carter Long
IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ACKBAR
HE DESERVED BETTER
RIAN IS A FUCKING HACK
Michael Evans
She was a cunt right out of the gate, too, it's not like Poe did anything to offend her, and not like it made any sense to exclude him from the plan. I mean, did she tell no-one, then suddenly spring it on them, and somehow they didn't all panic, or did she tell everyone BUT Poe?
Daniel Gray
>HUHR MUCH CHAIN OF CUM AND Chains of Command are designed so leaders can lead. Can't lead SHIT if you're not communicating with your subordinates.
Cooper Reyes
Then she should give better orders than "sit on your ass and wait to die" if she wants to be followed. Only an idiot believes in blindly following authority.
Gabriel Smith
Holdo is a fucking idiot, but these guys are right. Poe should have stilled followed orders (even though they all made retarded decisions).
John Martinez
>Poe >white Hispanic detected.
Josiah Taylor
It's hard to take an Admiral seriously when it looks like she just came out of some kind of space oscars or whatever. Why the fuck isn't she in uniform?
Brayden Watson
>the ape, gook, and mexican fuck over the entire plan and get a bunch of people killed >whites have to improvise and save the plan
pretty realistic
Kayden Bailey
>no right to question his commanding officer Man they would have loved you in Nuremberg.
Joseph Foster
>Holdo >Hold Out poetry
Owen Bailey
Pretty sure he was a Captain and got demoted to Commander.
Adrian Adams
..he aint white
Parker Kelly
he's in the Air Force obviously
Jace Morales
Do you even know how navy rank structure works? Commander is 3 ranks below Admiral, hardly a huge gap. Also Poe got demoted? (promoted?) to Captain which is above Commander?
