Why not have Lando return in the most dire situation to help out Finn? Have him be there at the Casino, while Finn is looking for the hacker all by himself. This could've been an amazing substitute black father moment for Finn, who's probably never had a family figure and would've introduced Lando back into the story.

And if a new Star Wars movie starts to feel kinda empty and less interesting without bringing this and that back from the original trilogy, there's another lesson for you - maybe the Star Wars universe doesn't have that much creative potential to begin with.
