What a fucking ugly ship. Why the fuck didn't they just make it like a regular star destroyer, but bigger? Less... like a slice of pizza.

>Snoke’s ship is just a bigger, blacker star destroyer
>Dreadnought is just a bigger, blacker star destroyer

???

Didnt watch this scene, it was not on the screener.

What happens?

>breakfast meeting at Disney
>any ideas on ships for the new toy line, guys?
>I think I have something, boss..

So after Rogue One and this movie, surely we can all agree that Star Wars ships stand no chance against Star Trek ships and that all those EU tech manuals were bullshit. The fucking Dreadnought gets all its guns shot down by a single fucking fighter.

he blew up all the surface cannons on the ship (pretty much implying the shit has no shields since an X-wing has no trouble doing damage)

>any ship can literally be destroyed just by hyperspacing into it
So, why haven't the Resistance ever hired kamikaze/suicide hyperspacers?

Why don't they have Tie Fighters out at all times?

>first scene in the entire movie not in the screener

>pizza slice
What did they mean by this?

It isn't just that, it changes the entire landscape of the Star Wars universe. On Hoth, why not just hyperspace out of the atmosphere? In Jedi, why not start ramming your ships or warping into the death star? Hell in this movie, why do the ships just accept death and get blown up when they could turn and hyperdrive? In Rogue One, why does the Rebel fleet just not kamikaze Vader's fleet? They're outgunned and know there is no chance of surrender. They've turned hyperspace from a calculated jump that takes time into magic teleportation tech.

>A New Hope is about the Rebels trying to get Death Star plans to Yavin IV
>any Rebel pilot could suicide hyperspace into the Death Star's main reactor and end the movie immediately
We also learn in The Force Awakens that you can pass through a shield in hyperspace, so Return of the Jedi could end in the same way

Planetary shield but hyperspace missile into endor's generator would do instead of targeting the death star

But Rogue One's planetary shield destroyed those X-Wings

Except you can't kamikaze while coming out of hyperspace, it's impossible to break through a shield but not end up exiting hyperspace inside a planet/ship unless you've got force hax, and the Death Star had gravity well generators

You FTL-missile faggots are the absolute worst.

kill yourself

>have tech that can prevent hyperspace jumps
>need light-speed tracking to prevent ships from escaping, rather than just activating your gravity wells

Makes sense, the guy was prepping the phone

screener starts with Leia slapping that gay pilot for being a CIS white male

...

>20000 credits for a T-14 hyperdrive
>14500000000 credits for a First Order dreadnought pizza slice
(((Watto))) confirmed

>newfags making pizza jokes over SW chip shapes
You 2000's kiddos are at least 20 years late to the joke.

>entire premise of movie is that resistance ships are able to stay just out of range
>HURR Y THEY NO STOP THEM

Does anyone have the webm from R1 where all the ships are jumping to hyperspace and the Star Destroyer drops out of hyperspace right infront of them? If hyperspace ramming was a thing, even if it was "only works on going IN to hyperspace!!!1", why would a military commander drop his Star Destroyer DIRECTLY in the path of a fleet of ships all preparing to jump into hyperspace? If even a single ship reacts too late or even just says "fuck it", you're going to lose your ship and potentially the ship you're trying to capture.

Even if the Death Star was too big to be completely destroyed, you could disable its whole laser cannon system for probably months of time as it required repair. So worst case the entire death star could be kept permanently offline if the Rebels just manufactured 2-4 x-wings a year.

F=ma

Load a dumptruck full of ten tons worth of sand onto your ship, go ftl, brake for a half second, launch the sand out of the dumptruck. Kinetic energy is 1/2 x m x v^2, so 1/2 x 4500 x 299,000,000 m/s^2 for c, or 2.01 x 10^20 joules. A one megaton nuclear bomb is 4 x 10^9 by comparison. So a dumptruck full of sand at the speed of light is about a 200,000,000,000 megaton nuclear explosion (feel free to double check my math, I'm very tired).

You don't need to weaponize shit. Just open your goddamn cargo door and you can crack planets with the junk you have laying around.

Send the fucking bombers. Or jump few ships ahead of them.

Movie is completely retarded.

Why in ... 50+ years haven't they put anti-fighter turrets on their capital ships, or deploy anti-fighter missile systems

REEEEEEEE

Lol just turn off your brain

REEEEEE where was the Dreadnoughts support?

DORITO CRUISER STANDING BY

>eu shit
>some bullshit about incompetance
>Like hyperspace ramming only working when entering hyperspace makes any kind of difference to the weaponisation of hyperspace drives.

Why don't the designers of the Empire's/ First Order's ships include these?

The ships drop out of hyperspace into a complete stop. They take time to accelerate. Retard.

Also that ship hit the destroyer before it accelerated.

It's actually higher since at around 0.8c you run into the effects of relativity which dramatically increases the kinetic energy of the ram

Why didn't the not-Empire just LSM into the not-Rebel base as soon as they got there?

>Luke, did I ever tell you about Light Speed Missile? It's a combat maneuver that no one in the history of the Republic ever used in spite of having access to FTL technology for thousands of years. It is an attack so devastating that whichever side uses it first wins. End of story. There are no safeguards against it, so now that it has been discovered, it is wisest to resort to it at the slightest hint of danger, because if you hesitate, your side has already lost. It took a smart and brave lady general to discover the technique. Had she been just a bit less brave and a bit smarter the concept of "remote control" might have occurred to her as well and she could have been a good friend.

>go ftl, brake for a half second
That's not how hyperspace works

Keep trying, though. I'm sure if you keep reaching you might grasp one of those straws eventually.
