JSA Storytime: X-Force

Good evening owls,

Mood=X-Force

what was good yesterday because I haven't read anything at all

This is a surprise. How'd the adventure go?

it was fucking incredible

the best usher in the world was all "Oh, you're heading up top, want to sit on the floor?" and gave out 7th row center tickets

the soprano let out this C at the end of the Dawn duet that nearly shattered the world

Guggenheim's X-Men is off to a dull start. How was the fat lady?

ʇoƃƃɐɟ ɐ sı do

i can't have any fun for a few months now, though

it was worth it

reminder that the Doop issue of Wolverine and the X-Men was a wonderful thing with my favorite single panel

everyone was good! that never happens in this show!

>I'm only doing this to boost sales
>Ten years later...
House of Recycled Ideas

the more things change

I'm deeply amused by the CBR article about Seekrit Empire that kind of tries to blame everything on HYDRA and ends up being more about event fatigue. Also seen more pros increasingly openly saying "It's fine to think this story sucks but it's not Nazi propaganda, FFS"

>Cover didn't lie
>It's actually the first page of the issue
:O

Action comics re-instated most of Superman's Post-Crisis stories and characters...except 90's Superboy and Matrix. I'm not sure why Superman Red/Superman Blue is ok, but Kon-El isn't.

Hello, Storyteller.

Sorry, I gotta vent, because this never fails to piss me off. So you know how Texas user has his nigh daily Best of WW threads? Well today, near the end of it, some fucker comes in telling him to shut up as he's commenting on the comic, even threatening to start some shit unless he complied.

This motherfucker is actively discouraging discussion in a story time thread. And people wonder why storytimes have become less common. It's almost like posting page after page is really fucking tedious, and actually engaging other people in conversation might make people more inclined to do it. Fuckin' morons.

So how was your trip?

THE MORE THINGS CHANGE

the circulating article about Millar's Ults reminds me that I owe you all UC:A at some point

so I think he's been a dick about various things, but this theory is kind of gold:

twitter.com/KingImpulse/status/857612850461802497

discussion in threads is the best part. Like, the best thing about HYPERCRISIS BRO was the way everyone was genuinely caught up in the spirit of the storytime, how can you hate that? you hate fun

my trip was super-great, it involved stunning opera, good beer, and sand

>Superboy Prime rewrote reality to fuck over the YJ crew
Makes sense.

Hal n Pals was alright

Kyle/Carol is finally kill

that is an excellent theory

I legit didn't read anything. I think Deathstroke has become the only ongoing I care about.

How did I get here?

zomg

twitter.com/thesteveorlando/status/857749795104010241

it's very Johnsian, isn't it? Just think back on Legion of Three Worlds, which is simultaneously a love song to the Legion, a continuity fix-it for Retroboot that pulls in XS and Gates, and the biggest U MAD middle finger to the audience imaginable.

It's awful of me but I see Tike peering around like that and all I can think of is AYO I WUZ PROMISED FRY CHIKIN WHERE IT AT

>I want a WAR!
X-Force predicted Civil War pretty perfectly.

Did you catch Millar and Spencer calling Hydra nazis in a roundabout manner?
I wonder if that's the guy who tried to ruin a few of PM-IF's threads when he was doing Daredevil, or when Storyteller was doing the last bit of Wildcats 3.0

Hey OP.
It's stormy and my power keeps going out.

Kon is too Kool for comics published in [current year].

Yes, and I saw people flipping their shit that they dared to joke about Nazis how fucking dare they

Millar's utterly unshameable, bless his heart

...

Morrison Wolverine looks like the guy doing the killing in a snuff porno.
Like a guy who is supposed to be selling Angel Dust but that's just a cover for his kidnapping and child trafficking business.
Like a Ron Jeremy Cosplayer.

I kind of go in cycles with caring about things in general, I think it's natural

it'll be there when you feel like it, or maybe cancelled, but there'll be issues to read at least

Oh yeah, I can't remember if he showed up last thread, but this guy is supposed to be Liefeld

Shit, Mel Brooks might give them a coronary.

hey if I don't like playing with people but I fucking loved running around and exploring in Skyrim, would I like ESO?

there was also a very measured thread by a Jewish comics guy talking about taking offense and speaking for other people that was a stone-cold subtweet of a great number of people

Even though I do like them together (even though their base relationship was formed on Star Sapphire magic), I kind of want Kyle and Sora to NOT get together if it will prevent that current villain of the week from existing (assuming it's their kid)

Wolverine has been a desperation "give us money" button for Marvel since at least the late 80s.

>everyone was good! that never happens in this show!

Well, that's good.

>I fucking loved running around and exploring in Skyrim, would I like ESO?
No. The only people who play TESO are people who never played a MMO before (aka every person who likes bad MMOs), Bethesdafags, and masochistic TESfags

>harass someone trying to mind their own business
>get mad when they are offended by this, then claim they should be grateful for the harassment
Marvel civvies, everyone.

Semi serious question; why the hell do Marvel superheroes give a shit anymore?

Still holding on to hope that it's that Kon is being set up for some kind of Young Justice Rebirth.

the tenor role is basically impossible and he did it with real style, the soprano was great, the bass was a bit idiosyncratic but solid enough, and the orchestra sounded really good, horn flubs are inevitable and no real demerit

I've never played an MMO unless a text MUD counts

They're masochists? At least the X-Statix's motivation makes sense.

I FEEL IT IS NO COINCIDENCE THIS CHARACTER EXISTS IN A BOOK EDITED BY ALEX 'WORST MARVEL EIC' ALONSO

>it'll be there when you feel like it, or maybe cancelled, but there'll be issues to read at least

True, this is basically my logic for tradewaiting too.

AAAAAAAAAAAHHHH

Well, my point is, TESO is a bad, bad game, mostly because it's quite boring and formulaic.

no, that's a good point, but if it scratches my "i just want to run around and explore things" itch...

There was a slight bait/slight discussion thread about how Darkseid would deal with invading the MCU, and one of the better comments was that he would just look at the state of the hero-versus-hero fighting and citizens attitudes, laugh, and leave.

>Anti-Life is clearly already dominant here

Ahahaha this is uncomfortably close to the present requisite of comics SYNERGY...

I actually had the exact same theory. Feels good knowing it's not TOO out there.

Speaking of our favorite autist, is this panel a reference to when he first killed someone in Infinite Crisis and he's freaking out because he didn't mean to?

That's some nice artstyle

>Comics shipment arriving tomorrow
Finally going to read Kamandi Challenge!

That's really what I'm getting at, the world is boring, shallow, and stale as fuck. There's nothing fun to do because in a MMO everything is preordained, there's no randomness, just a bunch of NPCs and mobs standing around ready to be interacted with. It's the very reason a TES MMO was such a bad idea, the very structure of an online RPG goes against everything the TES series is about.

So, TL;DR, no, you won't enjoy it if you like exploring shit and doing whatever.

I really like Allred's Sniktbub

yeah that'll be interesting to see

Shit, more meta commentary referencing to the as yet unset in stone "continuity only matters for six months" way Marvel has written comics for a long time.

The arguments about 'responsibility' and SE also kind of make me mad

>That photo
Haha what a nerd

No comment on Grant's appearance being unchanged.

...

and Humphries downthread

Grant is always adorable

Chaos Magic, son!

Cranky I know you're getting off to this.

Because of Allred's art... sometimes I see Jack Kirby as Coach.

I kind of tapped out on everything since it seems to amount to "don't directly reference bad things people have done when writing fiction" which doesn't really work.

Marvel has been shit for years and Rebirth is trash. Image is also not very good. You're missing out on Young Animal though,

Foreshadowing

Seriously. Why not exploit the hell out of these ungrateful pieces of shit?

It's pretty fucked when the state of things make you wonder if maybe Magneto has a valid point.

That would be fucking great. It's like in JLA/Avengers, where Steve was convinced that the League were dictators because DC civvies actually like their heroes.

For me it's the "don't do anything an audience can misread or misuse" means you're solidly stuck in black-and-white territory, because people are capable of appropriating ANYTHING. The comment that finally made objections click for me was

>To clarify what I meant. I wish I could like it but it carries too much baggage. And people get to like it without that. Is that jealousy?

you will drive yourself absolutely mad if you make your reaction to a work dependent upon those of others.

No I'm not. S-shut up!

>text MUD
Christ you ARE old! That's what my DAD played!

>Thinking about the Secret Empire FCBD spoiler here, of course. Is it irresponsible to have that image/message sent out into the world?

>Both arguably glorify hate speech and fascist figures, with the implicit expectation that the reader will eventually see their downfall.

>The images/narrative carry beyond the comics themselves. Should that awareness influence creator intent? Does that ask too much?

He's very self-aware.

I'm still a wizard on a MUD, lol

THAT'S WHEN THINGS GOT OUT OF CONTROL

Well, that's kind of a real world paparazzi sentiment anyway. They jam cameras in peoples faces and get mad when the subject gets annoyed.

Ominous Doop is ominous.

...

>I thought for sue that Bloke would be untouchable in these "p.c." times

Ah, it's nice to see a print reminder for all the kiddies around like to remind them that PC outrage bullshit has been going on for decades now.

With great story-writing power...

We were just coming out of the 90's after all.

...

>Spencer
>great story-writing power
Literally LMAOing right now desu senpai

You guys think some of these whiners are just shit Marvel wrote and printed for controversy and to attract pity buyers(making people think "I have to support this, look at how many people are against it and I don't want it canceled)

And even further, they have the nerve to get upset when someone ends up punching them in the face because they won't fuck off. Paparazzi are cancer.

Naw, they're real

the message board butthurt was real, about this book

Damn, Warbird is kinky.

I love love love the continual fashion choices Mike Allred makes. People wear clothes!

Yeah everyone knows it had a lot of haters, just saying that what they printed out deliberately makes the whiner look... retarded. Their complaints aren't...very well articulated.

You'd have to be retarded to hate this book, in all fairness.

Now that kind of trolling is very possible

every single thing in this book is still relevant today

I don't think whoever posted that understands what it means to glorify something.

They're trying to represent a wide range of different responses.

I think the argument is that Cap holding Mjölnir is inherently cool, but Cap is evil, ergo this is pitching him as evil *and* cool which is not okay

Really? I've seen a lot of "I'm dropping all of my Marvel titles!!" reactions here in regards to the one single book.

Oh yeah? Well I'm a wizard in RL.

And hats! A new hat in every panel!

The battery cables I get, but broken glass? That's a bit far.

>Spike
So who else remembers X-Men Evolution?

My contempt for reality TV extends to satire of it.

This book is working hard to overcome that, but I still don't mind watching these people die all that much.

I guess Darth Vader shouldn't be allowed to exist, what with being the Chosen One and a child killer at the same time and all. Yes, I know those came way after the original trilogy, my point still stands

...

This place has been pretty anti marvel for a while now and most people say they don't have much Marvel in their pull at all.

Yeah, one of the editors was all "I also edit Darth Vader, and we know he's not a role model, right?"

>X-Men Evolution
I still have a soft spot for it.

now that's a word you don't see thrown around lightly

My pull is pretty Marvel light, although currently I have more than I've had in 2+ years or so

RIP Nova
