i understand the reasoning with making Force Awakens "star wars greatest hits" but there was really no excuse for Last Jedi

It was fine. Grow up

>Hey Rian! No one cares about thought provoking discussions about faith, regret, failure, the nature of the force, acceptance, wisdom, fear, or the moral ambiguity attached to conflict! Give me more laser swords! and Dragonball Z force attacks! Swoosh!

why is Han holding Kylo's sith sword?

even my old parents hated it. All my friends found it bad.
Face it; its worse than Phantom Menace

You're on Sup Forums you fucking manchild. Kill yourself.

You have 30 seconds to tell me what thoughts were provoked in you by Rian

TLJ is pleb filter. Prove me wrong.

Fucking autocorrect, I meant pleb tier.

Looks like Power Rangers

How much should past failures haunt you?
The force does not belong to the Jedi. I have never considered this line of inquiry.
Is true faith in the divine found in faith or works?
Why are the people who arm our armies good but the people who arm our enemies bad if they are doing the same thing?
Is it ever okay to run from a fight?
Is making peace with the establishment part of growing up?

except Power Rangers was enjoyable to fans of the original

TLJ is not even pleb tier. Its pure garbage. Not even plebs like it.

MUH LUKE

Found the pleb

nah the film was just one big mess. Plot holes everywhere and bad acting.
The ridicules "current year" crap was icing on the cake.

dont tell me you liked it? Millennial scum

Another pleb filtered

Name one objective bad performance. I'll wait.

Don't forget how much of a mary-sue they made Rey.

The writers.

That's an empty criticism coming from a fanbase that deifies its heroes.

>The movie was good because I can somewhat picture the movie they tried to make in my mind and there it looks passable

more like take your pick. Shit was cringe half the time.

The movie was bad because it didn't feature Luke and Snoke lightsaber dueling for 40 min while swinging on ropes while Finn stepped in POODOO just like teh genius epic prequels!

I won't even give you a (you) for that shitty attempt.

This.

But what was George’s original vision for the sequels?

Power Rangers was actually enjoyable though

Not even being ironic, for what it was, it was great

>george
>vision

Jesus fucknig christ shut up already.

>In the book, we learn that one of the first meetings to visualize The Force Awakens happened on January 16, 2013 at Skywalker Ranch with George Lucas himself. Among the pieces presented at the meeting were portraits of an older Luke Skywalker training a new disciple named Kira (who was later renamed Rey). The idea was that, 30 years after the fall of the Empire, Luke had gone to a dark place and secluded himself in a Jedi temple on a new planet. The paintings show Luke meditating, reassessing his whole life.

The only aspect the trilogy screwed up was not making Finn the main character.

Call me a fag if you want but I think star wars should take the focus off the jedi and laser swords... My only beef with the prequels was not having a Hann or Finn like character

Is it really? Name one character trait of hers that isn't "good at everything". Seriously, try.
She mastered flight, Jedi Force skills, lightsaber forms, how to operate and repair antique ships, swimming perfectly despite growing up on a fucking desert planet and beat trained Jedi-types at lightsaber and Force combat by the time she was 5 and dumped on jakkoff.
Is she an anime character?
She doesn't have a character arc, has no presence in the movie, is completely flat yet is also perfect in every way. Oh, and not to mention that everyone loves her, and the Resistance trusts her with a sensitive mission and details within 5 minutes of meeting her.

I did not like Finn much in TFA but here he was actually shaping into a decent character.
That was until the whole Rose "saving" him shit and the stupid subplot he had to participate in.

That's an empty criticism coming from a fanbase that deifies its heroes.

>mfw I remember that Maz is a real character who is central to the plot of these movies

>That was until the whole Rose "saving" him shit and the stupid subplot he had to participate in.
This, these movies have too many fucking protagonists and they ruin each other's arcs as their own progress because they keep stepping on each other's toes.

You're talking about a franchise where the protagonist of one trilogy is space-Lucifer and the protagonist of the other trilogy is space-Jesus.

That's even irrelevant. If there was any desire in the fanbase for non-mary sue heroes, they would actually have liked Luke in TLJ. It's actually the least mary sue-ish movie of all seven movies so far. Even Rey was a lot better than in TFA.

>If there was any desire in the fanbase for non-mary sue heroes, they would actually have liked Luke in TLJ.
I don't think you understand the concept.
>Even Rey was a lot better than in TFA
I don't think there's any improvement at all

How has she mastered lightsaber? The fight in the throne room shows that she can barely handle herself in a fight with them, while Kylo does most of the work. Sure she is naturally extremely talented with the force but she is no where near as good with a lightsaber than other characters we've seen.

What do you mean she doesn't have a character arc or presence in the movie? The Kylo/Rey arc is the only meaningful and well executed thing in TLJ.

Also the swimming thing is a plothole not evidence of her being a mary sue.

>The Kylo/Rey arc is the only meaningful and well executed thing in TLJ.
It isn't meaningful, though, they play up that she's vulnerable to the dark side but she never really gives in to it at all. And the only decent romantic tension in this trilogy is between her and Kylo, but it never amounts to anything. There's no greater wasted opportunity in this trilogy than the idea of a Jedi woman and a Sith man falling in love and transcending the barriers between their orders.

>Also the swimming thing is a plothole not evidence of her being a mary sue.
it's both

A character without any flaws that succeeds at everything without much hardship. What people want is Darth Vader walking down a hallway cutting people down like a badass, like at the end of R1. People have conceptual ideas of "character flaws" about their beloved characters but get incredibly insecure when they see any more on screen, in fact they would rather not see those either, not that they were ever great flaws to begin with. Because Luke's character arc ended, and therefore he is now a perfect human being.

Luke and Vader and toys in the hand of someone inner child, and this movie took those toys and broke them in half, made them human. Snoke too. Big badass Sith lord didn't notice a lightsaber turning next to him. Like when Palpatine couldn't do shit about a lumbering old robot picking him up like a piece of wood and throwing him down a pit. But people were children back then. They watched without expectations, amazed by everything.

8 completely killed of any story arcs introduced by 7. There are no new story arcs. So 9 is going to a huge disaster.

Why is Luke headpatting Han?

I don't understand.

why was Kathleen Kennedy put in charge?

It will be

>Because Luke's character arc ended, and therefore he is now a perfect human being.
He was never a human being, he's a character.

All that had to happen was Rey joining Kylo.

>jj abrams at the helm of the first
dead in the womb

>Big badass Sith lord didn't notice a lightsaber turning next to him.

We'd barely met Snoke. He was killed in the same scene in which he appeared. We actually had time to get to know Sheev.

damn thanks carlos for really making me thenk! I guess they're forgiven for making these shitty movies. gracias pendejo

>already addressed in ROTJ
>already addressed in the prequels and OT
>already addressed in ESB
>already addressed in the prequels
>already addressed in ESB
>already addressed in TPM

Wrong. This movie is bad because they had a track on the casino planet that wasn't for pod racing.

why is rey so hot there?

Sure it could have. If it had an original story, better actors, likeable characters, no mary sues, and no forced 'progressiveness'. Also, being made by people who actually like Star Wars couldn't hurt it.

>you just hate everything new!
>you just don't know what you want
Disneylets unironically using this in defence of their shitty movies, after Fury Road and in the same year with BR2049.

She looks like she's 13

He was a good friend

Again, why is Rey so hot there?

I literally gave you a reason.
