American Gods

So how's everyone enjoying the vagina vore that American Gods is giving us?

This may turn out to be another Legion series

I know Gaiman made some comics at one point, but American Gods is a book turned movie.

do you not know of the comic coming out from Dark Horse?

Such plebs on this board

this thread isn't about the comic though

It's not?

>saving the thumbnail
no, it's not

trying not to get banned..

But it's really weird for a comic and tv series to come out at the same time...not sure how I feel but I'm doing both

Yeah, when the comic is an adaptation (rather than an expansion of the world, like The Thing comics) three degrees removed from the source, you probably don't want to start out with a shitty cropped image from the TV series if you want to be taken seriously.

then start the thread with an image from the comic, not the show

I still don't get the point of this scene, in neither the book nor the show. Guess it was for pure shock value or some shit like that... but I did like it when she was shoot to death and ran over by the new gods.

both to establish early on that this is the sort of world we're in, and that the old gods are fading and are desperately trying to get whatever scraps of worship they can just to get by

also for shock value

it is in the book and the comic. Gaiman fought to keep it in.

>Gaiman had to fight to keep one of the most iconic scenes in the book in
I sincerely doubt that

???
webm/gif when

Sup Forums probably has a few

apparently no one on Sup Forums has read Gaiman's novels, wow...

I haven't even looked at reviews or twitter to see what people thought of this scene but I'm sure the reactions are ridiculously hilarious. I can't wait for the gay cab driver scene

Most people on Sup Forums can't read a whole post let alone a whole book.

I don't see what your post has to do with mine

Want me to link all the threads in the catalog that aren't about comics?

the entire reason i watched was to see how they were gonna do this scene

>other people are doing it so it's ok for me to do it!

It's an American god doing American god things. As the title suggests

No, it's the queen of Sheba adapting to american culture of sex.

This show is clearly flying over 4chans ability to understand. Maybe I should have made this thread of /lit/ and have it deleted.

>maybe I should've made this thread that has nothing to do with comics on a more related board
gosh fucking golly user, did you come up with that all by yourself?

>gay cab driver scene
What's gonna happen there? After vagina vore I'm not sure you can go weirder.

I was over on Sup Forums the other day to see reactions to this scene, and apparently the cabbie scene is completely ridiculous and explicit as possible (according to someone who has watched the entire season)

I think it's just explicit man-on-man gay sex, which is rarely seen

>Starz
>mainstream television
in what universe

Oh, I thought it had some weird fetish too.

Spartacus did the whole man-on-man gay sex thing before.

Starz is beating HBO in every genre. All HBO has is the dying reminents of GoT and Westworld. Starz is beating them in everything else.

quality =/= mainstream attention. I wouldn't really call HBO mainstream either

Gaiman seems to enjoy super sexual shit in addition to this being on stars, so I'm not surprised

name shows that HBO has

Starz has
>Ash vrs Evil Dead
>Black Sails
>Blunt Talk
>American Gods

Nigga what. HBO and like 75% of their shows are all mainstream as fuck

Quality wise yeah, but HBO is still the most popular cable television. GoT, as shitty as it became in the last couple of seasons, is still insanely popular.

Starz is probably my favorite right now for drama, after Spartacus, Black Sails and now American Gods.

none of those shows have really gotten mainstream attention besides American Gods

What did everyone think of Loki in this? It was rather weird cause I'm so used to Marvel Loki, but as a con man he kinda works for Shadow

Is this bait

Got
Ballers
Insecure
veep
Silicon Valley
Leftovers
Crashing
Girls
Westworld

Like them or not, HBO shows are incredibly popular

Thought he was great, after McShane he was my favorite one. Really good casting.

>Got
>veep
>Girls
>Westworld and Leftovers kind of
these are the only ones that are popular

3-4 of those are good, seriously, most are really bad. And I'm trying to take my taste out of it cause I don't like GoT but am counting it.

The Leprechaun was fucking amazing though.

I liked the first episode but I could do without the sex. I can look at porn if I want.

oh yeah, talk about perfect casting

Him too yeah, the show has great casting all around.

are you incapable of seeing sex as a part of the plot?

I really wish Insults: The Show was more popular.

The problem is that Veep was made as a satire of American politics, and now real American politics are more ridiculous than anything the show could pull off.

But yeah, they have some amazing insults there.

...

>implying you can discuss movies or show on Sup Forums

No, especially when in the book she wasn't even central to the plot and only appeared in unconnected vignettes. The Mad Sweeney vignette was much more plot focused.

Besides Westworld and Leftovers, all of those shows are waning. Game of Thrones ends this year.

>I still don't get the point of this scene, in neither the book nor the show.

Bilquis is a fertility goddess. Or perhaps the demon that masqueraded as the Queen of Sheba. To worship her is to give yourself to her sexuality and femininity.

this is very true. A lot of tv Sup Forums shows down't know where to go now.
you can't cause a black man is the star... even though a native should have been cast

She gets run down by the Technical Boy.

she establishes early on (before the first chapter is even over) that a) this world has some overt magic shit going on and b) the old gods are in such dire times that one of them is literally a prostitute for worship

>you can't cause a black man is the star... even though a native should have been cast

He's not Native American. He's not really anything, that's the point of Shadow Moon. He looks mixed.

Who says that scene will be any different?
It seems like they're just staying faithful to those coming to America/side story cut away chapters.

too fucking bad, take back your own goddamned board and quit bringing your parasites here.

My biggest gripe about the show (so far) is how cringy the name "shadow moon" is out loud. At least just refer to him as shadow like in the book.

>Game of Thrones ends this year.

PFFT they'll pull a WB (who owns HBO) and make Martin write a prequel series to milk more money out of ASOIAF

Shadow was racially ambiguous in the book

>I will destroy you in ways that are so creative they will honor me for it at the Kennedy Center

He kind of did, actually

holy shit what. okay time to watch this.

>PFFT they'll pull a WB (who owns HBO) and make Martin write a prequel series to milk more money out of ASOIAF

they can't even get Martin to fucking finish ASOIAF

of all the boards this could possibly be related to, you picked the one it was least related to

fucking /his/ would be more related

All HBO is good for is Westworld and GoT, lol.

>GoT
>good
zozzle

Well there's already a prequel series so they can do it.

Bitter bookfag?

Me too thanks.

I would be more interested in a dunk and egg miniseries than what we have now

>I think it's just explicit man-on-man gay sex, which is rarely seen

I've seen it plenty on the internet.

Autistic exaggeration. Don't post again

I read this book like two years ago and can remember basically nothing about it. It has an awesome premise though.

It's only allowed if we talk about the comic adaptation, we would talk about AG show if it had originated as a comic, so pretty much this

Dunk and Egg was awesome, never expected to like it as much as I did.

I don't really have faith in D&D to not fuck it up too though. Well, at least it wouldn't have Dany in it so that makes it automatically better.

explain how this thread is more Sup Forums related that it is /his/ related if you consider the mythology side of it

Obviously that's not what they were referring to, you pedantic cornholing cocksucker.

Hard not to when you spend time on Sup Forums.

I've never seen Westworld, should I bother?

it's great

do your best to avoid spoilers though

All they have to do is a fun adventure serial with a really sad ending. GoT got fucked up because martin is writing 4 dimensional chess with himself, and that doesn't play well on screen. And DnD seem to think, correctly, that their primary audience are dumdums. Lone Dunk and Cub should do well.

It's just frustrating because the first season of GoT was perfect. After that it just went downhill year after year.

I agree that Dunk&Egg would be much easier to adapt though.

Cool, I'll check it out then.

Thanks

enjoy, user

it's not a shrink ray

You haven't read the book

>I've never seen Westworld, should I bother?

It's a big narrative puzzle that ends up not meaning anything when it solves itself.

It's fun to watch in the moment, but it's thematically empty and sacrifices character for plot/theme constantly.

I feel you dude. I don't think reached critical mass until season 4, but the cracks definitely started showing early

so..Sup Forums is incapable of discussing gaiman?

this isn't a discussion of Gaiman, it's a discussion of a tv show based on one of his novels, and therefore not fucking Sup Forums

The whole Talisa plot in S2 was really the beginning of the end. S5 was one of the shittiest seasons of television I've ever seen, if I wasn't such a huge ASOIAFfag I would've dropped the show.

Now I'm just watching because the fat man is never gonna finish the series, might as well get the ending from D&D. Fuck me.

eh, it's just the fear that it will be lost. It raises a lot of questions. if it answers them it will be great but if it ignores then bad. It will never answer all of them but it will be somewhat intelligent

I'm just following along with Preston Jacobs. He takes the piss out of the show something fierce, and his theory videos are such tinfoil hat madness they're really fun to watch.

And despite everything wrong with it, some of the episodes are well directed if nothing else. Battle of Bastards was beautiful even if it was fucking stupid.

Oh yeah, as far as directing and production design goes, GoT is top notch. It just makes the bad writing even more apparent though, it's all style and no substance at this point.

I only watched Preston's videos with the Maesters and the Hightowers and their anti-dragon conspiracy, which was some crazy shit. Really interesting though, I should watch more of that guy's videos.

> It raises a lot of question

My issue is it doesn't really do anything particularly interesting with those questions but has a level of tone and self-seriousness that implies its the next coming of Asimov. It sets up a gigantic puzzle box that ends up not really revealing anything particularly interesting, which would be fine if it didn't treat itself like it had amazing things to say.

It reminds me of the first season of The Leftovers before Lindelof calmed his shit down and started writing actual characters instead of relying on a dour tone and symbolism to carry the entire series.

It's not a terrible show, I had a fun time with it overall. But it still feels like wasted potential.

Ok. Who was the god that had the powers of not being remembered? Will this show reveal him?

This time they have no hats, user

Yes, watch it. It definitely isn't thematically empty. It has a lot to say about how identity is formed and how that involves morality.
