It's okay to like The Last Jedi

It's okay to like The Last Jedi.

Obviously it's okay to like the second best Star Wars movie of all time.

But I didn't, independent of whatever this site thinks.

If you're retarded or under the age of 13.

I'd say third best. ANH and ESB are a little better than it, but otherwise you're correct.

POSITIVES
>far and away the most space-based star wars
>resistance plot is speed in space and pulls it off well
>despite being a woman with purple hair, holdo is a captivating character with plenty of shades of grey
>prequel trilogy actually gets some love in the canto bight sequence calling back phantom menace's tatooine act
>rey shows weaknesses and faults (actually fleshing out her character)
>kylo shows strengths and doubts about allegiences (actually fleshing out his character)
>luke has failed and this actually effects his plot unlike some superhero who is heroic for the sake of being heroic
>fucking puppet yoda
>the suicide run was straight out of my animes
>snoke was a chump and the twist that he really wasn't that important felt good since trying to make him even more evil than sidious would have just been embarrassing
>luke vs kylo
>fuck you, porgs are adorable, didn't effect the plot like ewoks, and were kept mostly in the background
>papabacca
>hoth's placement always bothered me by making the rest of the movie sort of anticlimactic, action-wise; krait at the end was a fitting 'final stand'
>the 'true' story of luke searching kylo, becoming horrified, and then resisting the dark side fits perfectly with his character and actually bridges the OT and ST unlike Han and Leia
>johnson (who i don't care for) actually broke the boring abrams/spielberg/cameron mold and inserted a good amount of panache in the direction

NEGATIVES
>finn and rose didn't do much to endear me to them
>luke's exit wasn't quite as centerplaced as I would have hoped

Overall, 7/10. 3rd best SW after ANH and ESB. It seems normies hated it because it made TFA pointless, which was good in my book because TFA was a pointless movie to begin with.

Positives:
>Kylo
>Phasma
>Purple hair lady was put in her place

Negatives:
>Unfunny
>Horrible action scenes
>Too long
>Fat Asian girl should have died but didn't

Neutral:
>Everything else

Honestly it makes it easier for me to forget the spin-offs and sequel trilogy.

Only the first three or OT exists in my mind anymore.

It's okay to eat your own shit, just don't tell other people it's a well ballanced meal and "one of the best ever made" then scream racist when they call you retarded.

Honestly you do you.

>Broke galactic battles with hyperspace torpedo
>Resistance is futile
>Holdo is inept. She can't even put a captain in his place. E.g. "We have a plan, you're just not being given the details. Now sit the fuck down."
>Prequel trilogy now actually looks better, and that's goddamn awful to contemplate
>Kylo trashes the mask. The only thing that made him ominous.
>Fake puppet Yoda
>Blue tittie milkies
>Rose was the most selfish and uncaring person in the movie. She derails Finn's destiny and turns the story to total drivel because love.
>Luke was shit
Rian Johnson deserves an oscar for trolling the world.
This is the Last Jedi..

Last Jedi.

It's okay to dislike it too.

My entire family hated it. I think I liked it the most and even then I was not really into it. Rian Johnson really shat the bed.

ESB >= ANH > TLJ > RotJ >= RotS >>> TFA > AotC > TPM >>> RO >>>TCW

Tv needs pol's poster IDs.

At this point I think the movie is unironically underrated, it really wasn't that bad.

OP is straight.

i thought most people did like it?

Literally everyone except Rotten Tomatoes audience score.

Its better than the prequel movies

Yeah turns out Russian Tomatoes bots couldn't stop a good movie from getting the reception it deserved.

2 + 2 = 5

KILL
YOUR
SELF

Fanboys are just mad it's taking another direction

Not my Luke.

You tell him girls. THE FORCE IS FEMALE!

was it fake and gay on purpose?

Water is dry

Why didn't they let the Asian warpig explore her non binary gender identity?

ESB > RotJ > RO > TFA > RotS > ANH > TPM > TLJ > AotC

70% second weekend drop pretty much confirms they didnt
Unless you also think most people liked BvS

>anh that low
>ro and tfa above anything
Holy shit, congrats. I just fucking threw up.

YASS

Love for ANH is pure nostalgia. It has nothing to do with the film itself.

>letting the SJWs get in your head 24/7
Let go, user. They're not worth your worry.

Became a fan of Rian Johnson after TLJ desu. He did his own thing. Much more admirable than JJ Copypaste Abrams.

Oh fuck off. The Last Jedi is the first good Star Wars movie in 30 years.

Lots of pacing issues and plot holes, plus character inconsistencies between various points in their character arcs, keep it from being great. I'm pretty sure you can cut the entire Canto Bight arc from the film and it'd be not only better, but no more confusing for the omission.

But it's still a really good film. The music and visuals are great, probably because this is the first Star Wars by an actually skilled director since George replaced all the talented people who worked on the OT. The core emotional arc between Rey, Kylo, and Luke works really well and everyone involved gives great performances. The action is really fun when it counts, like the opening with Poe or Luke's short but sweet duel with Kylo, despite the pacing dragging a lot during the second act.

Overall, I rate 86/100 - better than anything *since* the OT, but weighed down by too many plot and pacing problems to be on the level of the originals.

>The music and visuals are great
That's like praising some shit at a museum because the frame and the lighting are great.

It's nothing like that.

I like you

No, it's literally the exact same thing.

The parts relating to the Jedi in this movie were actually pretty good for the most part and I like the attempt to mix up the formula and make the relationship between the 'good' force users and 'bad' force users have more complexity than in the older films, as a way of developing up from the simple but well made "good vs evil" story of the OT. However to that end it came off as a half-measure, as Rey still is where she was at the start of the movie as far as her character goes, and Kylo is delegated as obligatory bad guy for the next film. I thought Luke was good even up to when he tricks Kylo with the mental projection (feels somewhat of a Jedi thing to beat someone with ingenuity rather than raw strength) but that all was soured up by Luke dying from the strain of meditation for some reason. It ends up being that Luke gave up his like just to save a squad of resistance members who end up back where they were at the start of the film (just running away from the first order). So that there on its own is decent yet marred by bad decisions near the end.

The rest of the film was pretty terrible, which is mostly due to the scripting. The acting was adequate for this type of film, and the visuals were serviceable, but story lines that directly have to do with the Resistance were incoherent and ultimately pointless. The whole Casino planet part was close to the prequels as far as how dumb it was. If they keep it up, I will have to concede that even the prequels might be better than this new trilogy, which before I did not think was possible. But Disney is really screwing it up with these movies.

>film is an audiovisual medium
>the audio and visuals are not important

Great Radiohead song.

No.

Yes.
