Oh no! A bully!

Oh no! A bully!
I'm sure this recurring character will be a nuisance and a threat to Morty. Maybe somewhere along the line Morty will learn to gain bravery and courage from these events and learn to stand up to

OH FUCK HE'S DEAD

>inb4 reditfags complaining about all the reditfags on Sup Forums

I was glad he died instantly. Can they kill off the black kid now?

>This show would've been so much better if it had this dime-a-dozen generic character stereotype in it!
Sup Forums, I know you love finding things to hate about R&M, but you're really forcing it now.

>Looking for aesops in R&M

Eat shit, you're HARD DICK for hating reddit or memes or w/e has you talking shit on a legitimately clever subversion.

>Everyone wants to take this to a racial place. I won't let them.

I don't get the Rick and Morty hate, is it because it's popular?

It's not the greatest thing ever, but it's not bad by any stretch either. Except for the interdimensional cables episodes. Those are pretty terrible.

spergs who spend too much time on reedit and tumblr and see other spergs liking it in those places for questionable reasons come here and 'tism tantrum because they are allowed to here, not getting that neither they nor their opposing peers opinions matter and that functioning people can enjoy it for what it is.

Overexposure. Even if you leave Sup Forums Rick and Morty is basically the favorite thing of every narcissist, pseudo intellectual, and establishment radical there is. They all think they're like Rick, a detached guy who's too cool and smart for it all.

It used to be really popular back in season 1, but the lackluster season finale and the perception that season 2 was more of the same lead to, in typical Sup Forums fashion, hyperbolic and kneejerk hatred.

If he was white I would have said jock but there aren't any other black guys besides the math teacher

Good, I hate the school bully trope

This pretty much. The whole Szechuan Sauce meme has been memed too much that it just cringe inducing for me to see it.

>Reddit And Memey

Please, it's /r/ick and M'orty

>go to imgur to upload some porn quick
>see Rick and Morty memes for the scientist march

I liked it at first, but it lost it's direction after season 1(and you could see the beginning signs of said problems as early as Rick Potion No 9)

Being a shitter is like half of all Sup Forums posts.

How do you know that?

Did you go out and take a demographic survey, or are you just projecting your own peeves, and insisting that they're fact?

What about the man fucking Jerry's mom?

and prom is tomorrow

I just like it because its funny. I definitely don't relate to Rick.

Was he only talking about black guys at the school, or in general? Because if its the latter there's also the president.

B-but Rick is relatable and nilhistic rikkitikkiravi even

The truth is, I think most people on Sup Forums (and reddit for that matter) probably have more in common with Morty or Jerry. Maybe some could even relate to Summer

And my man

>I don't get the Rick and Morty hate, is it because it's popular?

Pretty much.
Sup Forums has a tendency to hate anything modern that becomes popular within a short span of time. The only exception to this rule are old nostalgia-bait series.

On the other hand, the show WILL inevitably develop serious issues if it continues to refuse proper character development and worldbuilding into season 3. Since season 2 started to suffer from that the fact that nearly all of its genuinely interesting character development and world building was cut short or ruined to make way for a few more jokes (like literally destroying the Council of Ricks and the Galatic Federation in the span of just one episode.)

Aside from that, I would still say that it's definitely one of the best adult comedy cartoons airing right now.

Its unclear if the show actually has character and plot development, or if the writers just tease those things as a way of making fun of people who are into that stuff. The first episode of season 3 is a good example of this.

>The only exception to this rule are old nostalgia-bait series
Not so fast. Looks like Sup Forums is starting to hate those, too

>a dan harmon series fucks up characters completely the second it's time to go past situational comedy

Oh jeeze what a surprise he's usually so good at writing deep characters and making stuff have weight.

Seriously, go listen to his podcast. He is irredeemably horrid and self-absorbed, with his only good quality being that he doesn't deny that he is.

Roiland would be smart to buy Harmon out of the show and carry on without him, he'd really only lose the Community fans.

>Morty
total retard, possibly has some sort of learning disability, does terribly in school and can never get the girl

>Jerry
total retard (again), mediocre to the point of irrelevancy, can't hold a job (though he did grow some balls at the end of 301)

>Summer
desperately wants to be popular and is way too attached to rick, idolizing him to the point where he's a hero figure in her eyes

comedy comes in threes

Morty at least has moments of cleverness. Like when he figured out how to tell who the aliens were in that one season 2 episode before Rick did.

He's also surprisingly good at killing.

>Not so fast. Looks like Sup Forums is starting to hate those, too

Only if their adaptations/remakes/sequels/etc are poorly-handled or just outright bad.

Which is most of the time.

>Aren't bully characters so silly and over usd? XD hahaha now please ahoy this other bully character that's dating the love interest of the main chachter. Not cliche at all

Justin Roiland is such unbearable faggot.

Eh he was a waste of skin if the only important thing in his school life is being a degenerate

We would have episode 9 of SJ if it wasn't for Reddit and Memey

all the cosmic level shit is really opposed to the concept of a show about a family, it's fine for finales but that's it

So why does everyone hate him again? I've only watched season 1 but so far he's the most based character. Does he suddenly become an asshole in season 2 or something?

And that's bad howww???

beta male with homosexual tendencies
it's pretty much Sup Forums's average user, the reason they hate it it's because they see themselves reflected on this chatacter, Sup Forums users hate themselves and thus, they hate him

>I don't get the Rick and Morty hate, is it because it's popular?

It's predictable, lazy and not funny.

I started out simply not caring for it or getting the appeal, I really wanted to like it because I enjoy community a lot. Rick and morty felt like it was trying to hard to be meta, and rick annoyed the absolute fuck out of me.
I basically thought "as long as it doesn't directly cause me to be unable to enjoy things I like, then I don't care if people enjoy it", then april fools happened and I have a seething hate for the show.

>is it because it's popular?
yes

my younger brother likes it and he doesn't have good taste

So, Dan Harmon's the culprit here?

I would have no problem with that happening

Summer in 301 is pretty much Reddit

The irony of people calling this show memey, when Sup Forums is one of the most meme loving places on the internet.

... As opposed to what? your own aggressive obsessiveness toward all homosexuals?

Seriously, if you're going to use half-assed pop-psychology in your troll attempts at least try to make the theory consistent in a manner that does not clearly implicate you of that same diagnosis.
You're claiming a dislike of this character not only is validated by the character's presumed latent homosexuality, implying your contempt for homosexuality, but also presuming the homosexuality of all those who dislike the character as the defining characteristic of all who dislike this character.
A little obsessive on the subject of homosexuality, there.
One could have just said it was a culturally conditioned response to less than a masculine ideal, but your analysis needlessly linked the status of passive homosexuality to both contempt for this character specifically and the very trait of passive homosexuality itself.
But you've shown contempt for both the character and passive homosexuality, implying a derogatory status to each.
By your own logic you are what you hold in such contempt.

Pretty much what you said.
It's not bad. it just gets way more praise than it needs to.
besides the contrarian hipster population on Sup Forums, the show attracts the worst fans(reddit and friends) and one begins to associate one with the other.
I personally lost all remaining interest when things got shwifty.
I'd say it's mediocre now but with some promise when it started.
oh, and of further note is that Sup Forums tends to be more right leaning(please don't go Sup Forums on me) and the show definitely leans more to the left, if unintentionally.

2 out of those 3 apply to Humanz, funnuly enough.

how old is your brother?

People like to hate content just because of a shitty fanbase.

ur a retard

Does being homophobic automatically make you a self-hating fag?
no it doesn't
stop trying so hard

>when a Sup Forums user pretends fictional silly drawings made by cartoonists and comedians are all supposed to inherently be 'about growing up' or 'maturing as a person' because that's how he elevates his arrested relationship with saccharine children's cartoons

So the fanbase makes the show bad? If this is it this show shouldn't be getting any shit

That's the fault of adult swim deciding to air it on repeat for 6 hours.

No. Any minorities dying is racist.
Only white people can die in obscene numbers, and everyone finds it funny

he's extremely beta

>when user makes reaching assumptions to sound smart

he's beta and is in direct opposition to Rick, the protagonist

he's probably the best voice of reason and represents the audience the best though

>try to see what the show is about
>first episode is about a medically retarded underage being forced by his alcoholic grandfather to put pinneaples up in his ass
I don't think this show is for me or for anyone over 15

>Sup Forums - comics and cartoons

Yeah, we would have gotten to the great Jack/Ashi romance episode a week early.

This. It's not a waste, it's sparing us a tired cliche.

>He's also surprisingly good at killing.
Krombopolous should have adopted one of him then.

The black kid was literally turned into a grotesque mutant and is assumed to be dead like the rest of the planet sans the Morty family
Fuck off

How does Sup Forums feel about R&M fanfiction

forums.spacebattles.com/threads/i-just-love-killin-worm-rick-and-morty-crossover.446513/
(Spoiler ed because SB)

>when user pretends a comedy is a drama, to sound like a critic

So? I'm talking about the cartoon

I could have sworn they showed an entire middle east country turning into mutants and/or dyig.

Yeah, that doesn't sound like projection and insecurity at all.

>when user pretends comedy can't have humanistic character arcs

the vast majority of the discussion on this board if about series that are aimed at children

The jock dating Jessica is black

>when user is borhered that his expectations got intentionally subverted for comedy, so he doubles down saying his expectations were more important

>when user makes reaching assumptions about OP part deux
>when user assumes user is OP

You guys realize it was April Fools right? If they hadn't aired Rick and Morty it still would have been something other than SJ.

Just be glad they didn't air The Room again.

>detached guy who's too cool and smart for it all.

So most any Sup Forums poster? Granted, it probably takes a Reddit poster to RP Rick while posting. Although if you dropped the belching, the stuttering might get confused for a smug Sup Forums poster.
Also: fanbases ruin everything. Old lesson.

that's the other person he was talking about.

>On the other hand, the show WILL inevitably develop serious issues if it continues to refuse proper character development and worldbuilding into season 3

I disagree. A lot of shows lose their whimsical quality and freshness when they jump the Tolkein train and make everything about superconsistent autist worldbuilding and character development. Look at how shit Season 2 of Superjail was compared to Season 1, for the above reasons. Or how Adventure Time started to lose its frivolous and wacky tone in season 3.

>Sup Forums doesn't get an obvious and deliberate 'IT' reference

Turns out sometimes, it's you who is dumb.

youtube.com/watch?v=A1bCcmWBkjo

>establishment radical
i'm going to use this word now

Rick's more of a threat to Morty than the bully character ever was.

AAAND WE GOT A SHIT OPINION! THAT'S NINETEEN AND A HALF GRAPPLES!

Shut up justin

>Summer had the hots for a serious psychotic

I swear Jerry is the only character in that show with good judgement.

Rick sees Bully threaten Morty with a knife.
Kills bully.

Bean creature tries to rape Morty in a bathroom.
Rick kills Bean creature.

Rick isn't gonna let anything happen to Morty

Rick willingly sacrifices himself for Morty when reality split into multiple parts
youtube.com/watch?v=9aUowoykENE

Its way too dramatic these days. Takes itself alot more seriously than it should. Rick has become the most predictable charecter ever. Every "twist" in plot is now just expected. I miss when it was just Rick and Morty going on wacky adventures without all the galactic council bullshit just over complicating everything

Who cares about SJ anymore, SJ went to trash after episode 3 anyway, and completely jumped the shark into irredeemable levels with episode 7.

>is it because it's popular?

I love this argument

It's basically "The Catcher in the Rye 2.0" with Rick as Holden Caulfield except he's a genius and added aethism

And just like the book you have people that absolutely love it because they self identify with the shitty main character, bad writing and themes
>schools a waste of time Morty!
>God doesn't exist Morty!
>Love isn't real Morty!
>Marriage is a sham Morty!
>Everyone happy is either and asshole or an idiot (phone) and real miserable people like me are the geniuses who see the world as it is!
>be a nihilist like me Morty!
>except paradoxically avoid one of the best sources of happiness Morty which is family
>that's right Morty I'm massive shithead to the family and ruin their lives with my toxic bullshit
>WABALUBADUBDUB
>MR POOPY BUTTHOLE
>SHIT ON THE FLOOR MORTY
>LET ME TRY TO KILL MYSELF MORTY

And for all of the above, just like the book, you have people that fucking despise it and cannot even begin to understand why so many people love it

I mean fuck at least Catcher in the Rye was self aware and had the voice of reason, compared to the protagonist, be a ten year old girl as an obvious foil and critism of the main characters

What does this show have? The only person who stands up to Rick is Jerry and the show has turned him from an annoying, passive, jealous father into the most hated, flanderized, jackass possible to validate the unreasonable shit he gets. I mean FUCK just look at this scene:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3XTwRyGyec

This is literally "edgy teenage humor" cranked up to 11. Fuck this show

I don't agree with the Catcher in the Rye comparison for various reasons but I do agree the characters are becoming more and more unlikable, aside from its lazy humor that got worse and worse this is one major reason I despise Family Guy, most if not all of the characters are deplorable.

The writers of Rick and Morty are definitely becoming too edgy right now, you dont have to take a massive shit on every convention like actual character development to be funny.

That scene made me laugh out loud the first time I watched the episode

the show itself is ok

but the fanbase has quickly become one of the most annoying fanbases of all time
