>Harley Quinn is a hero who's always telling jokes and pulling pranks, has no connection to the Joker, strong self-esteem instead of crippling dependency issues, uses red and blue hair dye as a costume
Why is this even considered the same character at this point?
This. But even if you mean in general, people don't read comics and just assume Harley has always been like she is now.
Easton Nelson
It's not the same character. It's a child-friendly version that capitalizes on the character's popularity to sell toys to little girls while still giving them a rolemodel that parents won't find suspicious.
Logan Edwards
The weirdest thing is that she is STILL a villain.
It's like if Lex Luthor was suddenly marketed as a good boy role model for children, while making every kind of horrific action on the comics.
Jacob James
It isn't the same character. Are you not familiar with capeshit and the way it reinvents characters to the point they're indistinguishable from their old selves every few years, to appeal to the current zeitgeist and continue raking in the shekels?
Aaron Diaz
well, Lex Luther did join the Justice League at one point
Xavier Garcia
He's been a hero for a long time since Forever Evil
Josiah King
This isn't the comics. This is a cartoon for little girls. Do try and ease your autism.
Ethan Howard
Man, the Justice League with Lex, Captain Cold and Jessica Cruz in it, especially in the beginning of this arc when Superman refused to work with Luthor and walked out was the most interesting shit in the world to me, and it went absolutely nowhere. What a shame.
Landon Jackson
>reminder that her bio used to mention her murdering 300 kids with an exploding portable game update before that was edited out
Joseph Edwards
>making anything about Harley, even just a same-looks character, into a role model for kids What in the actual fuck.
Ethan Gutierrez
>MUH EXPLODED NEETS Let go man. I know it hurts thinking of losers dying because you can relate. But you gotta move on. It's been years and is an inconsequential moment that nobody but you remembers.
David Allen
She's cuter and makes for a better waifu now, so who cares.
John Walker
Yeah pretty much. If Freeze was in the same position, we'd be seeing him getting marketed as 'loyal, determined, and willing to get the job done no matter what'
All the while omitting the job is 'fixing his dying wife' and 'no matter what' includes 'killing you and everyone else that isn't his wife'

Yes,and I'm comparing to a cartoon for little boys making Luthor a rope model.

Luke Brown
Should have used Duela Dent, since she's actually a teenage girl and has been a hero in the past.
Wyatt Gonzalez
console peasants deserve nothing less
Xavier Foster
Harely is just an anti-hero Dick Grayson at this point
Henry Powell
I don't care about this but I'll laugh my ass off when people use this to complain about other Harley depictions, like Dave Willis's epic bitch fest about Starfire a few years back.
Joshua Myers
>billionaire >genius >/fit/ as fuck >/fa/ as fuck >was a president once How is he not a good role model for boys?
Daniel Jones
It's not any further a departure from OG Harley than Skwad Harley was.
Cameron Phillips
We couldn't let the children to believe that baldies are people, could we?
Ethan Gray
So? They made Killer Frost and Poison Ivy heroes too.
Gavin Harris
They both started as villains that were more or less in control, making their own decisions because they wanted to.
Harley started off as a clingy, desperate bint that did what she did in the vain hope that the Joker would notice her, mistaking his obsession with Batman as infatuation for her.
Jacob Bell
He isn't /fit/. He is a manlet on superdrugs. Probably has butt implants
Colton Martin
/fa/ as fuck
Until New 52/Rebirth he literally never had a good super suit.
Nicholas Adams

Could it have its own war?

Duela Dent hasn't been in movies though.
Eli Rogers
>being yourself is the greatest superpower
She's mentally ill.
Pretty sad that DC is so deprived of interesting and fun girl characters they have to bleed Harley to the point she's unrecognizable.
Carter Allen
Duela Dent is Z list at best.
Leo Watson
>B-but she killed all those NEETs! Harley did the right thing. Nobody mourned their loss. The sun shined a little brighter that morning.
Brayden Ramirez
>dressing like a slut is good! >being a clingy unstable psycho is good! >worshiping men who don't give a shit about you is good! >killing TONS of innocent people is good! HA HA HA HA WOW What the fuck is wrong with DC? Even if you wanna cash in on the popularity of the whore in suicide squad it STILL has the same comparison problems.
Adam Anderson
You know what? Those kids fucking deserved it. It's their fault for trying to enjoy life in Gotham.
Gotham is hell, and it will break you. Deal with it, nerd.
Asher Campbell
You sure about that?
Jaxson Green
>It's a child-friendly version
Ironic as hell considering the original Harley with all the trappings OP pointed out came from a cartoon show aimed at kids.
Carter Campbell
Every time I glance at that picture from the catalog, I think it says "Killing Yourself Greatest Super Power"
I've been on Sup Forums too damn long
Ethan Edwards
>#1 female in comics flips between Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn >#3 female in comics is now undisputedly Killer Frost >DC Superhero Girls outsells every Marvel trade except for Civil War >Storm constantly buried >Invisible Woman constantly buried >Jean Grey constantly buried >Carol at cancellation levels despite a years long push >Kamala at cancellation levels How does DC do it, bros? Their female roster is an absolute gold mine. Who's next to hit it big? I hope it's Vixen.
Henry Reyes
DChads actually talk to women
Christopher Cox
Don't you know that's slowly becoming the norm nowadays? Except for the killing people.
Brandon Rodriguez
Its just he good old DC Superhero Girls way.
Lincoln Robinson
yeah well... how're your movies doing? loser

>that did what she did in the vain hope that the Joker would notice her, mistaking his obsession with Batman as infatuation for her. That's wrong tho, the joker took notice of her and decided to wrap her to.his will and took her along on crimes, this isn't a one-sided relationship.
Noah Hill
Your mistake is assuming mayority of harley fans reads comics.
Justin Rogers
Someone should make this edit.
Jaxson Watson
Spidergirl was the top of the top, but someone in editorial or higher hated DeFalco and that she was doing so well so they killed her off.
Connor Peterson
Big talk coming from Sup Forums and this thread especially.
Joshua Nelson
Spider-Girl had a long 12 year run. Yeah, they tried to kill it multiple times, but it had to go eventually.
Elijah Morris
It's not considering her origins are in television, and she was the star of a big movie despite being nothing but slutty eye candy,
It's the same with Deadpool, most people know him form most media as the funny meme man.
Chase Bell
Marvel Hates Women unlike DC
Juan Bennett
Marvel's trying its hardest to pander to womanchildren in the cities and only them.
Joshua Morgan
N52 did...things.
Gavin Sanders
Add to that list Catwoman, who is always going to be hovering somewhere near the top of the female character hierarchy, and the niche but consistently strong Raven and Starfire fanbase due to the cartoons. Marvel's the biggest fucking sausagefest as far as mainstream popular characters.
Nolan Mitchell
Nobody knows her, she's nothing for general audiences and her name is ugly
Carson Sullivan
That wasn't the animated series, I wasn't in the Arkham Games, It wasn't in comics pre-N52 ...I think It wasn't part of the canon in N52 neither...and I don't remember a non canon comic with that story. Where did you read that?!
Xavier Ortiz
Nobody knew who Harley quinn was before suicide squad, That's how you introduce to thewe characters. You don't worry about their popularity.
Caleb Miller
>when you want to tell the porn artists to get to work but you don't want to lose your job
Justin Taylor
I remember that one porn comic where she grows a horsecock
Carter Howard
maybe kids but I was surprised when a 16 years old girl told me she wanted to watch suicide squad cause she watched the TV show Batman in 2004. that show was bad but she remembered the character.
What did they say in the screening before the release of the movie? about abusive Joker/Harley
>that's not the relationship we grew up with
This was weird but they said so.
Jack Nelson
I remember that too user.
Jacob Martin
I don't have problems with Duela if you thought so, no but Duela doesn't sound commercial
Landon Ramirez
Baldie
Ethan Torres
I do find it a little disconcerting that Harley is being both used as a sexpot symbol who is also an antihero at best or more usually a tragic villain with a history of abuse... and as a more fun loving role model for girls simultaneously.
Seriously, this isn't like having Batman portrayed as a child friendly Caped Crusader and a Dark Knight for older audiences; the schism here is kinda wrong.
Also, I kinda feel like Wonder Woman/Diana being in this instead of any of the Wonder Girls is kinda like demoting one third of DC's main three by having her be a high schooler with girls who derive their mantles from Bats and Supes. It was probably more because of brand recognition thank anything, but really that's the problem here is that Dc isn't really thinking too hard about what they're doing here.
Luke James
There is no main three. There is no trinity. There is only the World's Finest and then everyone else.
WW is secondary like Flash and GL. This is where she belongs.
Wyatt Jackson
>There is no main three. There is no trinity. There is only the World's Finest and then everyone else.
My biggest problem isn't Harley and Ivy being presented as superheroines in training - this is its own thing, and at least they're thematically consistent with most of the faculty being reformed supervillains.
But when they make a big fuss about Barbara in the first episode because LOL U CAN'T BE A SUPER-STUDENT WITHOUT POWERS, when Harley was RIGHT THE FUCK THERE... I was mad, but then I remembered "I forgot she has low-key 'metahuman' strength and agility in the comics because why the fuck not." I don't think the writers were aware of that, but it's arguable.
...and then fucking CATWOMAN showed up as a student, and I was like "SO YOU'RE JUST FUCKING FULL OF SHIT HUH?"
Jonathan Parker
>this shit is what Ever After High gets canned for
Lucas Thomas
in about 3 weeks Lee is in for the realization that most of the world actually doesn't give much of a fuck about Wonder Woman.
And that either Harley or the Joker would outsell Superman in a heartbeat.
Logan Moore
Oh shit! you mean THIS?
>Dat feel when someone quotes your image
Camden King
Wait, Superhero girls is canon with the main DCU?
Aaron Martin
>Show for little girls >Margo Robbie booty shorts Harley was all over t.v. for SKWAD. These girls must be confused as shit or they're going to be sexy as shit in the slutty way but be good people. idk man.
Jonathan Lewis
Nah, I was just echoing a lot of observations about how Harley has evolved & been sanitized by WB in pop culture.
Liam Morris
Luthor has been on the good side for, like, three years already in the comics.
Alexander Long
>little girls dressing up in margo robbie booty short Hot
Hudson Russell
How does a non powered idiot manage to get into Waller's Superhero High anyway?
Brayden Murphy
>le be yourself What do people even mean by this? Literally how can you not be yourself?
Ian Collins
They grabbed several villains just to have more female characters.
Cheetah, Killer Frost, Poison Ivy,
Brody Perry
Vixen has a cartoon. It's her time to shine now.
Robert Butler
>Literally how can you not be yourself?
How autistic are you? People often adopt behaviors that don't reflect how they are in private for the sake of getting others to think they're nice or interesting or otherwise worth having as a friend.
