I know I am going to get hate for this but I really liked the romance they tried to have with that Dwarf and Elf. Writing was corny like the "I could have anything down in my trousers" but if it was written better instead of the AOTC prequel tier dialogue then it would have been really good. I found their scenes cute and actually added SOMETHING to the boring trilogy which was nothing but invincible Dwarfs killing hundreds of enemies with zero stakes.

You need the reading material and universe around said material to be incredibly detailed and thought out. Name one other author who has achieved this? You also need a director who's passionate and understands the material well enough to put everything together in a way that exceeds all expectations. And you need a talented composer that may or may not create a memorable soundtrack. You may get lucky with the third but forget the other two. They do no exist at this point and Hollywood will never take risks again on this scale.
