But it wasn't good. It had virtually no meaningful character development. It answered very few questions from the previous film. It established no interesting questions itself. It did almost nothing to build on the material given to it by the previous film, and it did almost nothing to set-up the next film in any interesting way. Luke's characterization was way off-base given how he was resolved at the end of Return of the Jedi. It was full of plot holes, like First Order ships with hyperdrive deciding somehow they were slower then ships without hyperdrive, or Vice Admiral Holdo thinking she could secretly offload the cruiser, despite the fact the First Order ships can scan for life.

It was bad on just about every level.

What future? Ep 9 has nowhere to go from here. There's absolutely nothing to look forward to, nothing was set up so both the begining and end of the film are going to be terribly paced, its impossible that they can't be.
