That's not the best Vader scene.
um ...
best
second best
Star Wars was always for compensating beta losers
Jesus what shit choreo
oooh umm... sweetie sit down
vader totally let him win
Due to his suit, Vader could not raise his arm over his shoulder
That's why he fights like that
All of it is shit. Nobody involved in the production ever fenced or spoke with someone who does.
At the end Luke aims at the air a couple times while Vader goes down without being hit.
>can easily use the force to grab the guy with the plans
>casually walks up and lets him get away
try again
You know, this scene would've been a lot better if Anakin enters the room and he sees the storm troopers already have killed them. At this point he realizes he's at the point of no return and must continue this path.
Every Vader scene in Empire is better than that fan-service trash.
Except that wouldn't be the point of no return and you're a tryhard failure
Dude
wasted. On the worthless storm trooper equivalent of the republic.
that scene would have made sense if he used his power to dispatch the main cast or a group of jedi masters or whatever.
WOW, it's almost like hubris and arrogance is one of the main flaws of sith
Please never write a movie
Not sure if intended but your webm prooves my point
much scarier this way
he's like the terminator, you cant reason or argue or negotiate or even fight, it's just personified evil murdering its way towars you
he doesnt even care about the guy running he knows there's no getting away for long, no place he can hide
for the first time since the ot star wars is allowed to be legitimately "dark".
Like, that is the vader i can imagine everyone being scared shitless of.
>Due to his suit, Vader could not raise his arm over his shoulder
What kind of cheap explanation is that? You're telling me the Empire can build world-destroying space stations, but they can't build a suit of armor for one of their most important leaders that would let him do what every human can do naturally?
Would've been if the protagonists escaped the planet and were the ones in that hallway. But Disney have no balls so just have Vader kill a bunch of faceless nobodies we don't care about.
Not making a smart move and letting someone escape is neither hybris nor arrogance. It's bad writing
It always bugged me how he slopped onto the rail at the end as if having to get into position rather than being made to end up there.
Like how lets Luke escape in ep. V?
No, he meant Vader's actor. The suit restrained him too much. That's also the reason why Batman couldn't turn his head in the old movies, and had to turn his whole body every single time.
I have no idea what you're saying. Seriously.
Anyway Vader didn't let Luke escape. He attempted suicide to not join Vader.
Ha, no. This will never be topped and Disney will never get the perfect atmosphere of the originals down at all.
No no it's literally canon the suit limited him
i might be wrong, but this was done on purpose so that he couldn't overthrow palpatine.
I'm split on whether I like the main cast dying to the Death Troopers and Death Star or Vader more.
I rewatched Empire recently, and it really bugged me how Luke survived the fall this high.
Jedi can fly now ;-)
Liking this scene is the easiest way to out yourself as a tasteless prequel-fag. This scene's depiction of Vader is literally contradicted by the very next chronological scene in the series
I cried
>makes a better star wars story than Disney has had 3 times to
This actually looks like a real damn sword fight. I really miss this stuff. The new over coreographed stuff is terrible and lacks any raw emotion
How does he lift Palpy over his head then?
No dude, the guys Vader murders in R1 are on the mon calamari ship profundity, the scene in ANH takes place on a corvette the guy escapes with in R1.
The music makes that scene better.
The Kylo / Rey fight in VII was fine.
Luke always had that hot streak. its no wonder he tried to kill Ben.
Are you people seriously implying that Darth Vader taking a dumb wouldn't please the mongoloid brain-dead STER WERZ fans? Anything with Darth Vader on it will make those retards cream their pants and claim it's the pinnacle of film-making.
He was tired, bro.
It is extremely painful
do people aim for the swords instead of their opponents' body in actual sword fights? I guess Vader wasn't trying to kill Luke but there were a few points Luke was just hitting vader's saber for no reason
Source?
Some nerds found sword fighting books and redid it for history channel or something
Turns out there was no honour and cheating was encouraged and fights lasted one minute on average
>while Vader goes down without being hit.
He was tired. How was this not obvious in 30+ years of the scene existing?
Like, I can see the appeal of Vader choking out Felicity Jones, the flashing alert lights of the Tantive reflecting on his helmet as the life fades from her eyes; but that's R dark. Vader was never allowed to be R dark.
Rogue one was okay thanks to the original director not being bothered by disney forcing jewjewbinks until late development.
He wanted to make a war movie on star wars, they hamfisted some stuff in it and it's still better than the other two.
But we just saw all that shit with these faceless nobodies. It's not as if the camera lingers on the carnage in this scene. It's all very fast and watered down. They want to portray Vader as a bad ass threatening force again but why am I supposed to care about him murdering these poorly trained nobodies? At least have there be a point to this scene (Vader killing off the protagonists) rather than pointless fan service for the low IQ neckbeards in the audience to drool and applaud because Vader is hacking nobodies to death.
Not that I would give a fuck about the protagonists being murdered by Vader since they were all monotone cardboard cut outs with no personality but at least it would serve a purpose.
He was trying to disarm him, not kill him.
Naturally, that's why it's there.
>plan goes well
>People on Scarif died but the sacrifice was worth it
>You're a generic soldier and just want to go home
>Suddenly lights go out
>Music stops
>Pitch black
>Hear metallic breathing
> *Swoooosh*
>Red light saber lights the hallway
>You see the man of the legends himself in front of you
Image the sheer horror
This scene was masterfully done
IT BROKE NEW GROUND
>glorifying a destroyed man
>not understand that vader is a tragic figure
I wouldn't expect anything else from reddit mongs
Go suck corporate jewish cock
>MY GOD WHAT HAVE I DONE???
>I guess you're my Master now and I'll just casually go kill younglings
The worst thing is that there's all theis character developement that happened on screen and that could have been used effectively to make Ani go from Anakin to Vader, but Lucas didn't even use it.
>I stopped some Jedi master from murdering that guy that I hate because he's a Sith Lord responsible for all the deaths in the war
>I guess that makes me evil now... and something something power to save Padmé
>don't have time to use proper character developement when there's younglings to kill
Because you can't just have Jyn be cut down like that; she's the main character of the story; it would be as much if not more of a waste than everything else we got. You'd have to shoot it in a personal angle like that and that is way too dark for this genre.
>The shoulder armor itself weighed 12.2 kg overall, was resistant to both blasters and energy blades, and was capable of withstanding hits from both weapon types with only minor surface pitting. A drawback, however, was that its weight made it difficult for Vader to raise his lightsaber to full height, though he could still raise his hands above his head if pressed.[10
It's explained in the novelisation. Something about air currents in the vent shaft. It's also why that trap opens under him later, because the shaft sees him as debris to be cleaned up..
Vader can't even OHP 25 lbs lmao
I read some wookipedia for shit and giggles.
I can't beleive they used the white Vador armor in fiction. IT WAS A PIGGY BANK HEAD TOY FOR KID THAT CAME IN BLACK OR WHITE IN THE 70'S!
SW fags are so retarded.
I didn’t know Disney was behind RoTJ
>Nobody involved in the production ever fenced or spoke with someone who does.
That is specifically 100% false, they had an olympic fencer as the coach
>it would be as much if not more of a waste than everything else we got.
If you think this you have genuine autism.
Why is it better for Vader to inconsequentially cut down Jyn in the hallway on the Profundity than for the Death Star's explosion to kill her and Cassian on the planet's surface?
see
He just said he wouldn't care either way; do we care more about the Death Star killing them even though they've just ensured its demise; which is actually incredibly operatic in its construction?
lol at reading books to understand the movie
It's more cathartic to be killed by the very weapon you just helped to destroy
wow thanks for spoiling asshole
God I forgot how these movies used to be like samurai movies, they used fight language and every thing in these fights. You can pin point the moment Vader knew he fucked up pissing Luke off.
they don't know what they want thats the point....
Yeah right like some ancient ass book accurately depicts sword fighting. As fictitious as the bible
>He just said he wouldn't care either way
That's because the characters are monotone cardboard cuts with no personality. Story wise the Vader scene serves zero purpose other than to make the neckbeards applause and drool. Having Vader kill the characters would've meant his scene would actually serve a purpose. As it stands, the Vader hallway scene should've been removed completely.
t. pathetic disney soyboy shill
He did disarm him.....at the wrist
>....
Reddit go away
Rogue One is easily my favorite of the post-ROTJ star wars but this scene is probably my least favorite. It was just stupid pandering to idiots going "I just want to see Darth Vader kick ass!!"
what absolute shit
Fucking Christ that choreography is garbage
Okay so we're agreed that since we can't go all the way on Vader killing Jyn in a personal way that makes us feel something it's better for the Death Star to do it.
They had a professional fencer doing Vader's fights in ESB and RoTJ. Try again moron.
I like how you can see Luke's hate in the way he fights and how that actually ties in with what happens afterward if I remember that scene correctly.
It is the polar opposite of Yoda fucking flipping around.
Wow. Thankfully, you didn't write the prequels.
>This actually looks like a real damn sword fight
No it fucking doesn't. Believe it or not swords don't weight 20kg like in Berserk
I AM THE SENATE
is it time for your ballet class yet?
go watch some 40s films and bitch about how monochromatic they are
just got done rewatching RO and damn why was i "meh" to this movie at first? i fucking loved it on a second rewatch or maybe because last jedi made me abit disappointed.
also i know tarkin was cg but what about leia at the end? she didnt seem off like tarkin was.
Probably the best musical moment in all of star wars. Sends chills through my spine every time
But Vader can kill Jyn, there would be nothing wrong with that and it would not be worthy of an R rating. Look at the scene we have, it's all fast and watered down, none of the kills are lingered on, they're basically offscreen. They could film it the same way with the main characters and it would be fine.
This looks really silly at points where they just roll on the ground for minimal contact
See that along with the fact you can see how Vader has him for a moment there before getting over his head. He's just reveling in Luke's sloppy fighting, jabbing him, then Luke causes him to stagger after a block, then he gets pushed back, gets knocked on his ass, and then he gets his hand cut off.
they used the same technology for leia but I guess it looks better because the actress was closer to carrie's appearance to begin with so they didn't need to change her that much
Tarkin looked better
oh i need to go and see how they did it but maybe im remembering wrong but i thought this cg leia looked cuter than her real younger self, also if they use an actor first than cg remodel him/her i guess it would be hard for tarkin since that actor's face is very unique.
How are you not picking up on what I'm saying here? The point of the movie is to make us feel something; and not that "whoa Vader is scary/awesome". It would be tonally barren just like the filmed sequence mostly is; we can do more than that and intensify the tone all the way up to Palpatine shocking Luke to death at the end of ROTJ but since Vader doesn't have lightning it means choking her out, and that really does tread on an R whether you like it or not.
No it doesnt u fucking nigger
they're from manuals used by late medieval fencing schools you utter moron
Did you skip English class
Everyone shat on this but i like it my dude
