What's a better design for a Supreme Arch-Mother.

She also gets a fancy robe so she can pretend to be elsa

I like the left but maybe make the shade of grey for the clothes a bit darker to contrast the hair more but not black like on the right...

Remember that this is a scrap and and still needs lots of polishing

docs.google.com/document/d/1m0opPOKOWPUJYZGNAbURxf2MItAxZapbCmPx6ZoqPYU/edit?usp=sharing

i'm certainly chuckling.

still loving your stuff
still seeing the same arm length issues and thinking a girl is a dude. no need to repeat it I suppose.

>You've got a webcomic, right?
yep. I finally got off my ass and am making pages.

forgot link

I know this is a bit of an odd question but if a kid basically grew up only around their parents (English speakers) and one of their parents had an English accent (the other has a more standardized English patterns), would the kid pick up the accent or have a weird mixture of both?

no mixture.
they'd be able to speak both dialects fluently and probably use the one at home that is spoken most predominately in the family.

I think simpsons did a joke about it with the italian guy who could only speak broken english because that's what his parents spoke, but that's not how it works irl...

Depends on their exposure to other English speakers. If those two parents were the only people the kid listened to on a regular basis, then the kid would probably pick up a weird mix of the accents. If the kid regularly listens to other people/Tv/radio in just one accent, the kid will probably just have that accent.

real proud of ya
plus it's always nice to see a pistol grip barrel-over-tube shotgun

I went to school with a kid like that, it was a mixture but it came off 'american' to most ears. only kids who watched a lot of british TV like I did could pick up on the difference. he actually sounded a tiny bit canadian
also he used words like 'rubbish' and 'bin'

So let's say the heroes and the villain hate each other with a burning passion, and this very much informs their actions towards each other, but you can't think of a good reason for the mutual loathing. Is it actually necessary to explain it?

Right now, I have two vague ideas. One, the villain did something awful to the heroes and they retaliated with something equally awful, or they just had a hate at first sight sort of thing. I got nothing for the details of either, though both involve each party knowing each other since high school.

Again, them knowing and hating each other is actually important to the story, so I feel like if I'm gonna make this a thing, I should figure out how the thing started.

thanq

i can't afford a benelli m4 with the LE stock so i live vicariously through drawings.

Thanks, and it's an unfinished sketch I just wanted to upload a different image

if you dont feel like elaborating on it, but you want to make sure the audience knows it's not just aimless, give a throwaway line that makes it clear they have a past. we'll interpolate the rest.

it's... so beautiful..

BTW forgot to add part 2
This was written even before the first document so it can have inconsistencies

Still working on finding a good style.
I'm getting close I think.

hot. and i appreciate her taste in flags
just a few minor tweaks to proportions and you're in. in this case the shins are too short for the thighs, forearms too short for the humeri, and torso is either fine or too short depending which direction you fix the others in

Just wanna make short little comics more akin to what you would find in a newspaper

First digital drawing of Wilson (the dog).

it's surprising we dont see much of that around

How do I make a girl with muscles and in a padded jacket feminine?

wat? most of the comics here are like that

Just play to the bulldyke crowd.

Oops, meant Jerome

mmm no, we have very few sort of cartoony newspapery funny animal things. I suppose it's because it's something we're all familiar with, but usually in childhood, so we either think of it as memorable and something we imprinted on, or something lame and babyish or meant for your grandma and we're not into it. there's few people who just 'kind of like' that kind.

As long as her jaw and brow and nose are still small, her hips are broad, and her shoulders are still narrow, she's feminine. no matter what her muscles look like.
padded jacket meaning like a winter coat? I don't..

major league quick fixes!

Yeah I use to seeing a lot of funny furry animal comics in newspapers. Always loved those. However, I rarely see any Webcomics like that

>people still using Tapas after TOS change

They changed it back.

Where are her BOOBS?!

justice was served

We do have The Magic Forest, but he hasnt updated in forever or been in the threads

ikr

showing off some hideous bugman space faces I'm proud of.

I really love that mouth design. I think it might help achieve a more buggy look though if he had either really small or really large pupils. As it stands it doesn't look buglike other than the mouth even though it does look pretty good as a random creature design.

His species is a mix of things, so bugness is only about half the intent. I'm happy to know the mouth is effective though, thank you!

How do you feel about panty shots, /hyw/?

As long as they fit with the mood/tone of the scene and series, sure. Bonus points if they're diegetic and makes sense in the story. If there's a panty shot in a scene where a girl is trying to turn on a guy I'm all for that, but panty shots in serious scenes are just distracting.
Also, this is just me but I prefer panty shots when they aren't all over the place. Having a few well times ones are nicer than just having a panty shot in every scene. When people start to overdo it I wonder why they aren't just making a porn comic.

A seal of quality, and an understated means of communication between men of taste. The discerning reader knows what a panty shot really means. "You've had a hard day, rest well, friend and brother."

I think as with all "fanservice" it depends on tone and how maturely it's handled. I don't want to watch or read anything that feels like it was made by a horny middle school student but I didn't mind, for example, how skimpy Motoko's outfits in Ghost in the Shell were because it didn't feel out of place and no attention was drawn to it really.

You also shouldn't expect someone to empathize deeply and have serious respect for a character that the comic constantly uses to comedically sexualize. It just makes it feel contrived.

if your comic is trying to be "serious" I'd say abstain from it altogether unless it really isn't focused on at all and is just coincidence.

I like your line work. What kind of brush do you use?

yeah man work dem mandibles.

I don't approve of panties, but if they're worn, you might as well see them.
I hate when an issue is made of them one way or another though, unless it's for comedy

Hi , my webcomic is up at tapastic
tapas.io/series/Bhb

thought it said series/Birb for a second

Ha that edit though

I use Anibrush ani-r.deviantart.com/art/AniBrushes-2016-645193958

there are birbs in it

What are you, some kind of fucking faggot? Panties are insanely hot. In fact, they're hotter than a naked butt or cunt.

i bookmarkened it something ood
oh shit i love kakapos and so does lulu. she doesnt much come round here anymore

>Anibrush
Thanks user

i'll grant you that. there's something lovely and soft and nice about them
they're just horribly unhygienic.

beta as fuck, go rub some baby wipes on your dick

You know for comics like this I suggest you do the little signature and date at the bottom, give them alittle title too. You never know when you'll strike gold with these little things, and your gonna want your name on it if you do. pretty good looking mane.

Whats a good app to get on ipad for drawing and coloring? I've got sturdy characters, and a solid story basis. Now i want to get started on experimenting with my art flow, redefining my characters and getting into comic paneling on my tablet, just to get a feel for it.
Any suggestions?

get a real computer and a real tablet and then get real programs.

Sketchbook pro would be my best guess. I highly recommend getting a decent laptop at least though and using paint tool Sai, pbotoshop, or something of the like. If you don't have a drawing tablet you can easily order one off amazon for like $60

Yeah, i know i need to do better, but i'm brokefag right now and its all i got.

If anyone has any other suggestions for ipad, it could help a guy out

Thanks user, going to start doing that now

ah I hear that. Good luck, I'm sure something halfway decent exists.

I used to use ibis Paint X for art and still do for photo editing. It's free and easy to use, though it may crash a lot if you save too many drawings. I find it's good for finishing sketches on paper like pic related.

Another weird question but where can I go to learn about astronaut/cosmonaut training in the 1950's? I know astronauts then were mostly test pilots but I really want to know the nuances of what they'd do in a lot of situations. Like operations, safety measures, how they'd run a ship. etc etc

A part of my story takes place in an alternate universe in an entirely different cultures/ planets with aliens that are part of human society so there are some liberties I can take with technology, but I want to make it as authentic as possible.

MediBang Paint. It's free, and you can cloud share files between mobile and desktop.

I mainly use the desktop version for quick sketches, and that has tools/templates/settings for making comic pages.

Not a lot of whistles and bells, but then, you don't really need all that many.

no idea if any of this is useful but I bet some of it will lead elsewhere google.com/search?q=history of astronaut training&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

Drip

I worked on one many years ago

eh, funnier than my first comic

No need to lie.

nah dude your humor's definitely ahead of mine when I started.

Thanks. I like to think of these as the type of things you'd ironically put in a loading screen or an adult swim bump

yeah that seems like the appropriate place

Just something short and quick, and all of a sudden.

How do you make a loser character likable? Is it just about making them funny and relatable or positive?

My narrative character I talk through for that review series I've been working on is basically just a caricature mostly of my negative traits for humor purposes but I'm kind of worried that will come off as just plain unappealing. People seem to like him so far but I want to make sure to avoid making him just genuinely unlikable.

i think most of the time people dislike an unlikeable character it's more that it's frustrating than actually that they judge them poorly. just try to keep pressure from building and have catharsis when it's needed. i mean nobody is like 'ugh i cant watch silicon valley because i hate guilfoyle' you're not supposed to like him. it's fine.

Would you read a webcomic about girls who accidentally pee their panties ALL THE TIME???

wouldn't even consider it

like the coloring. what is it? watercolor?

Update when?

A boy falls in love with a girl. He is mysteriously gifted with her phone number. He calls her and finds out that she likes him as well. But the next day, she doesn't remember the confession. The girl he called is not the same girl he fell in love with. In fact, she doesn’t exist in this universe at all. She is the girl’s alternate universe counterpart, who likes his own alternate self. Hijinks ensue as the two tell each other their darkest secrets to conquer the hearts of their other selves.

See: webtoons.com/en/challenge/keit-ai/list?title_no=36825

nah. once is okay, but all the time strains credibility. embarrassing as it would be, they'd just start wearing diapers.. possibly trying to make do with the smallest pads possible by taking constant bladder emptying breaks.. and of course they'd visit their doctor to sort out their dysfunction and most likely improve if not outright cure it.

but i mean, I like that girl in Kiss X Sis. the dorky one that pees easily.

Are there any penalties to drawing porn of your own characters?

Can this negatively impact anything?

shows everyone you're a fucking loser lol

Thanks.

>comic about a fox and a cat living on a hut in the middle of an endless ocean for as long as they can remember
>they find a bottle with a mysterious message

foxandcatadventures.tumblr.com/

I can't draw so I just draw like a child.

The problem is that it makes the comic redundant, to some. like, it's one thing if you're an animator for a tv show, and you draw porn of it.. because that's just a drawing, it's not a tv animation. so it's separate and lesser. but if all you do for your comic is draw, the porn is the same exact thing.. so it's like... you're sort of competing with yourself. it's better to draw porn of other peoples' and let them draw porn of yours.

I assume you're drawing with a mouse, yeah?
you could do a comic like this fine in simple geometric shapes if you were able to use a tablet or something and just slowly (or quickly) draw nice even shapes. nothing wrong with 'like a child' art, yknow? everyone loves sanrio

Wacom Bamboo CTH-470, actually. But Paint really is one hell of a program for a webcomic.

it really is. I suggest you get clipstudio
but if you are using a tablet, then alright! start making some nice even shapes. I know you can do it!

So is this just that scene from 28 Days Later or something?

padded jacket like a gambeson

Post your character and we'll see.

This page is excellent.

I have never seen a coat like that in my life. what is it for?
