This fucking world
>racebending a duck
>caring
If it makes you feel any better, the real SJW types actually hate Miranda because he made a musical that "glorifies" slave owners.
Eh.
He was always a guy trying to bury his whitetrash roots.
Now he's trying to bury his barrio roots.
i was excited for the reboot until this shit
>racebending a fucking duck
what's the point?
>make brown duck
>don't give it elements of an actual brown duck
this is the thing that bugs me more
I thought Gyro was Gizmo duck. Or was Gyro the one who flew the plane?
>get a load of this guy
wrong on both counts
I'm not gonna pretend to be outraged or offended or anything but it feels kind of unnecessary
in the sense that we're living in the future, why not just make a totally new character that fits whatever profile and just put them in the Gizmoduck suit/role, rather than I guess correcting the original concept for being too white
not like DuckTales was some deep lore shit; don't have to use the exact same character when that character was made up for the show in the first place
...
who even cares? wasn't he pretty much all of the time in the suit?
or was that just in Darkwing Duck
>Because the duck is brown now
Design wise, they problably did this because Donald Duck characters are difficult to differ from each other and have limited variations
I like how they even had to change the name, because how else would you know we changed his race? He's still a duck!
Sounds like fun.
Oh shit, I hope he does have an overbearing Latina mother.
>Because the duck is brown now
i never said anything like that nor was i implying it. i haven't seen a single episode of the original ducktales, it's just the fact that lin of all people was casted
He was only Gizmoduck all the time in Darkwing. In Duck Tales he was often out of the suit as Fenton Crackshell.
That would be kind of cool.
I want a FUCKING premiere date already
why won't they tell us
Do they not know that Hamilton became an abolitionist? Must be hard not having read the actual fucking source material the dumb musical was based on.
What's wrong with him? I'm not a big musical guy, but Hamilton seemed fine. Not a fan of Hip-hop?
at least they kept the established trait of Fenton having beautiful hair
>race bending a duck
That's pretty funny.
But, hey, Gizmoduck!
it's coming out sometime in august. how do i know? the comic coming out "in anticipation" of the series releases late july. and mid july is d23 where they'll have a ducktales panel with an exclusive sneak peak.
it just feels like they hired him because "oh, the moana guy!" and didn't put any effort in actual casting. considering they have him on board to score future movies, yeahhh it just seems like a cheap easy solution for them
>A Mexican accountant
Unless he's helping Scrooge launder drug money for the cartels, there's really no such thing.
>tfw when in latin dub he kept his english name but he was duck-apparatus
>Cyro is ciro "crazypear"
we don't give a shit about race but i hope those cool names remain.
You have to go QUACK
I'm just amused that Disney have done the same thing again, but in reverse.
So, rather than remake a cartoon with Jose Carioca and Panchito Pistoles. About Donald's adventures through South American countries. We'll paint a duck slightly brown and give him a a Mexican surname.
Does no one find it kind of racist EVER that the solution for lack of diversity is to always make the push for some character that either was or represented as white into becoming a minority instead of creating projects for characters that were already minorities?
>Oh you see, user, an actual spic with from an actual spic back ground would never sell. What you need is, basically a white character with the average white story but diverse last name.
Justice Ducks spinoff when?
>implying Scrooge would not do something like that
>Unless he's helping Scrooge launder drug money for the cartels, there's really no such thing.
Drug money is the only source of income Mexico has.
If Mexicans were even remotely intelligent with money, their country wouldn't be a third world hell hole. The REAL Scrooge McDuck would never hire a Mexican to manage his money.
you have to go back
>says "summer"
>means "the very end of summer"
Just put me in the ground.
Go back to themarysue
So is Fenton an illegal or a "dreamer"?
Because it would make sense that Scrooge would hire illegal labor to run his businesses; the only way he can get away with the humorously low wages he always pays everyone in the comics (10 cents an hour).
So much for "doing it square", Unca Scrooge.
this reminds me, one of my favourite lines from the comics "i'm not paying you starvation wages for nothing!"
you know what always 'ducked' me
there are no black ducks in the disney-verse
>Oh shit, I hope he does have an overbearing Latina mother.
Best case scenario, La Chancla included.
How the fuck can you racebend a duck?
It's not even a human being you utterdipshit.
>the only way he can get away with the humorously low wages he always pays everyone in the comics (10 cents an hour).
Actually this brings up a good question, do you think they'll keep that in this new show?
>Oh shit, I hope he does have an overbearing Latina mother.
That would actually make a lot of sense
That's cause then WB would sue.
He's not a Barks character so who gives a shit.
What attracted all the unique characters and story arcs to the Donald Duck character?
The problem is that a lot of the old minority characters are seen as too stereotypical, making a white character into a minority sends the message that minorities have the same diversity of traits that white people have.
thank god for MBMBaM
>racebending a fucking duck
Do ducks even have races? From what I gather, what we'd identify as races in ducks can actually not interbreed...
There are other sorts of hispanics, you know. Hell, there are mexican families in Texas and California who were there before anglo-american settlers came.
>The REAL Scrooge McDuck would never hire a Mexican to manage his money.
Who says he's Mexican? I mean, Miranda's of Puerto Rican descent.
where's my asian ducks?
Disney comfirmed for racist
What we need now, more than anything else, is realism in our cartoon ducks.
>a brilliant young intern working for Scrooge McDuck’s personal mad scientist, Gyro Gearloose.
Sounds like he'll be a scientist or engineer this time.
I can overlook this if the character is still a wimpy momma's boy with a mediocre life and not some mouthpiece for identity politics.
Carl Barks' comics in the 40's and 50's. He created a lot of the characters there that showed up in DuckTales decades later. Scrooge, Beagle Boys, Magica, Gyro, Glittering Goldie, Flintheart Glomgold and some others. He didn't create Launchpad or Fenton or Bubba or Webby, though.
Maybe it was less "we need to make one of the characters into a minority" and more "we want to cast Lin Manuel-Miranda as someone, quick, let's make Gizmoduck hispanic".
Guess they could still keep his autistic instant counting ability around, maybe
There was another donald duck looking cartoon character called Duckula. I always wondered why ducks were such a go-to character for more gritty(?) media like horror and adventure. I don't know how else to describe it, but the best shit seems to involve ducks.
The Carl Barks comics are rad as hell, so that's probably why.
Duckula's British.
Maybe ducks/birds make interesting characters. Or it was all just built on the pun and the whole thing is a coincidence.
Fenton and Launchpad were both used as stand-ins for Donald in the original DT if you ask me. Not just the stuff they adapted from Barks that had Donald and they needed a literal stand-in; Fenton in retrospect has some of comic-Donald's personality traits. None of Donald's temper, but as a fall guy, and as someone always trying to make it on top but never getting there, who pulls some hair-brained schemes in the process. His original design even *looks* kinda like Donald's, and if the latter is gonna play a bigger role in this new show, they need a way to differentiate Fenton.
It's not that bad of a change, fucking seriously.
>Hell, there are mexican families in Texas and California who were there before anglo-american settlers came.
Not for long, snowflake. #MAGA
Ah.
I guess from a storytelling POV it makes more sense to have Fenton hanging around the lab as an assistance in order to get the Gizmoduck suit, as opposed to being an unrelated character who happens to walk in.
I know you have done been responded to twice but you need a third bitch slap for your incompetence.
Mexican's fucking love Speedy Gonzales.
They also love Top Cat for some reason.
>all these curves
>no edges
looks like absolute shit
the only issue I see is that by definitively aligning hispanic with brown feathers, doesn't it just make all the other ducks "white" (when you previously barely considered it)
i hope they just make a bunch of ducks in random colors and don't always give them obvious racial associations
Well it's not mexicans making the decisions.
Well they seem to be broadening the species of birds used as well, so they'll probably use a whole array of looks for characters without creating any clear patterns.
Can't wait for Webby to be Mabel 2.0!
You have been saying this November
>Reminder that the earliest promotions for the DuckTales reboot described Magica as an "LGBTQ icon".
If you ever thought this was going to be anything other than agenda-pushing SJW shit, you were a fool.
>"how can you make a duck a particular ethnicity"
>no one has any problem with Scrooge being Scottish or Glomgold being a Boer
just admit you hate it when they make characters something other than white
well, I mean, McDuck is scottish, so
For whatever reason, I can't read comics Donald's voice in my head with his iconic voice from the cartoons. Does anyone else have this problem?
>Reminder that the earliest promotions for the DuckTales reboot described Magica as an "LGBTQ icon".
Why didn't they just use a duck species that's native to South America or Spain?
Honestly it's quite possible for them to show up at some point, someone working on the show mentioned in an interview that the higher ups are letting them use anything from the Disney Afternoon block that they want besides Rescue Rangers(as that has a movie in development)
What does a Thespesia grandiflora have to do with anything?
>Magica could either be Lady Gaga meets The Wicked Witch of the West, or a PG-rated lesbian
Either one's fine by me
I can do it, but it takes a bit of effort.
Completely off-topic, but you said you emailed Milton Knight about Robotnik's design the other week. What's his email address?
I don't think that fish is a duck
>>Reminder that the earliest promotions for the DuckTales reboot described Magica as an "LGBTQ icon".
Wasn't that just Entertainment Weekly being a buncha faggots and not actually confirmed for her characterization in the reboot?
Thanks
Peking Ducks are all over the place, what are you talking about
I have simple tastes. Long as his transformation remains dope I'm cool.
Disney and the showrunners never called her that, that was the websites repeating something they heard from other websites.
The only way I would be fine with this is if Tim Curry was able to voice her.
>described Magica as an "LGBTQ icon".
WTF when has Magica EVER been any of that shit?
AAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
When has Gizmoduck ever been Mexican?
All your favorite childhood characters are coming back, but they're all either brown or gay now.
Hamilton wasn't a slave owner. And his pal Laurens was pretty outspoken about anti-slave trade. I know SJW sometimes lack logic but the only prominent characters that owned slaves in that musical are Washington, Jefferson. Idk about Burr and Madison but Jefferson was portrayed kinda villainously throughout the musical.
She actually comments on this every time someone calls them the Justice Ducks. Then Stegmutt says "I used to been!"
Why was a character named SteggMUTT originally a duck?
Is the guy on the right Winston from Kilimanjaro Safari?
If anything a bit too villainously, but I guess he is the heavy from Hamilton's perspective.
Hamilton was no angel either but the John Adams miniseries covers that pretty well. good watch, too.
He's a duck, but was adopted and raised by an anthropomorphic dog family (Like Goofy or the Beagle Boys)
W-what? I thought that Gyzmoduck was full megaman or Robocop (with no past life or secret identity, just machine)
Boooo
