time to finish the samurai journey
Hope my friend is back in town so we can all watch the final episode at his place. I will bring bourbon.
Got my new mousepad today
>tomorrow
I've got bad news for you, user. Unless you plan on sleeping about 30 hours.
Im gonna smoke weed and read comics
I'm just planning on catching up with s4 and the previous episodes, I have nothing to do so redbull and marathon starting now.
nice
Every with how good the 9th episode was, it didn't crack the top-3, which is still held by the first 3 episodes. Didn't expect that.
Is the foam on the back
E X T R A T H I C C?
Genndy said the first 3 were like a movie so i can see why they stay in high regard. They work independently as well as their own thing
Did he? It makes more sense when you put it that way. The choreography of the fight as well as the aesthetic of the all 3 episodes (Ecstasy of Gold, that darkness fight, the bloody Jack, the hunt) were fantastic.
Wish the whole season was like that.
I do too, though I am still satisfied with what we've had, while understanding the criticisms as well. It's been refreshing to see something just once come back with creator control and not executive meddling.
Pretty thick for a $1 mousepad
Is this going to be an hour long series finale? Or the regular half hour slot?
The whole season is meant to be one epic movie
Genndy said he wanted everyone to view it as one compelete work
>epic
>the show turned to shit after 4 and went even worse than shit somehow once they had Ashi-centric episodes.
gonna hopefully draw a bunch of SJ fanart requests provided my tumblr followers aren't a bunch of unimaginative fuckups not much hope there
>no real samurai hours after tomorrow
why even go on
I would totally go to this decent sushi roulette place near me except im a loser with no friends
So this bitch not relevant anymore?
her voice actress was seen in the recording booth for the final episode but that could either be because she's voicing olivia or that creature that appeared in episode 6
...
blog link?
...
Could be a flashback too like that Mufasa in the cloud thing she pulled in Episode 4
I just realized the "solution" Aku is mentioning here is placing Jack on the wall like a trophy. This is most likely one of the first scenes.
I'm having a few friends over, including one friend who I only get to see once a year. We'll get dinner and then go back to my house and hangout until the finale.
Do we REALLY need "pregame" threads more than 24 hours before the episode airs?
For all the other eps I've waited a couple hours or until the next day to watch it online, but I kind of want to watch this one live. Is there usually a stream everyone goes to, or does Toonami stream it or anything?
this finale is gonna fucking suck

Anyone else remember Cartoon City?
That place was my Valhalla
Also I know yall played this everyday
Samurai Jack is a big deal, an ending wasn't going to happen for the longest time.
Hey guys, this is my wife Ashi.
Yeah, It's been a 13 year long wait for this precise moment, I think its appropriate
I believe Adult Swims site streams it live
go to bed jack, you have a lot of work to do tomorrow
...
Anyone has the MDRID megas from 1 to 5?
>tfw we'll never get a comfy slice of life show about Jack and Ashi living together and going on adventures in a small city
I think certain sections of this song would make a good intro:
Jack and Ashi cuddling on the couch together watching an old movie while it snows outside. Also the wolf from episode 2 is curled up on a dog bed by their feet.
That'd make a great epilogue
Jack and Ashi just sitting in a peaceful home with a young child curled in their lap, they look outside to some beautiful scenery and begin telling the child a story
Jack: Long ago in a distant land, Aku, the shapeshifting master of darkness unleashed an unspeakable evil
Ashi: (Playfully) But a foolish samurai warrior wielding a magic sword stepped forth to oppose him
Jack: Before the final blow was stuck, he tore open a portal time and flung him into the future, where his evil was law
Ashi: But instead of returning to the past, he stayed and rebuilt the future that was Aku's
Jack: Gotta go forward
WATCHA
This is heartthrob-kino
Nice.
What's great about a denouement like this is that you could literally do this in 30 seconds to a minute. It's not pushy or over the top, it's tasteful as fuck.
You guys think there's any chance they'll fill in some or all of the 40 missing episodes later on?
I'm ready.
Let's see an end to this.
Possibly in the future, Genndy said he did it so that the option was there if someone ever wanted to take up the mantle, but as for Genndy himself, this is where it ends
Jack talking to his son in the epilogue:
I named you after your grandfather, he was a wise emperor and brought joy to his kingdom and all his followers, Mako
...
Hey, guys. Is there anywhere not fucking terrible I can catch up on the last few episodes of the series? There's a few later episodes in the classic series I remembered I have to watch, too.
I was using Watchcartoononline for awhile and that was a mistake
a very large mistake
Can we talk about how fucking good the score of the original seasons are, while we're at it?
It's always a mix of electronic and whatever music fits the weird place Jack is in. It's really unique and hammers in the feeling that this is a weird place Jack doesn't belong.
A lot of people talk up the ecstasy of gold pastiche but the music didn't feel -anything- like Samurai Jack score to me, and I feel like it suffered for it.
We don't know for certain, but all signs point to a half hour.
There's some brony who streams too naming every week.
But...
>I was using Watchcartoononline for awhile and that was a mistake
>a very large mistake
Why?
The new season had a new guy doing score, so that's not a surprise that it feels distinct.
The use of Dean Martin was dead on point, though.
It's an awful site.
Basically, I'm just looking for somewhere I can watch a few of the last episodes (a few in 3, 4, and 5, I think) in halfway decent quality. 480-720p as opposed to 360, at least.
is that thing on jack's neck supposed to be an adam's apple
i've wondered all this time
I've had success with Kisscartoon before
Oh, I didn't know it was on kisscartoon. That's almost certainly much better. Thanks.
I don't really want Ashi to live to the end of this. Not just because I hate Ashi anything, but like... She IS Aku. We've already established that Aku's evil can spread violently from a single spore, it feels kind of uncertain if Ashi doesn't bite it.
Not to mention "Jack can't make a simple sacrifice even when the gain is so great" is a recurring theme and I think Jack being forced to finally make that sacrifice to stop the horror and it's someone he actually cares about as opposed to a random stranger like it usually was would be a great ending.
Seems against the themes, though. You don't do good by sacrificing someone ELSE.
kisscartoon got downed and was replaced by an adware laden unapproved mirror
its real replacement is kimcartoon
No, that's totally on the themes because Jack ALWAYS had to sacrifice someone else to get back to the past and always couldn't do it, even when they were perfectly willing to die for it.
There's the episode where Jack travels to the time portal with the Shaolin monks and he saves them and destroys the time portal to do so. At the end of the episode they ask why, I think - and he says "You were willing to sacrifice. I was not."
Imagine Ashi telling Jack he has to be the one to kill her to stop the terror, comforting him and all that.
Jack doesn't sacrifice others because it's not right and he knows it.
When they're perfectly willing to sacrifice and the hypothetical objective of his trip to the past is to undo everything Aku has done, I think it's arguably worse to not let them sacrifice.
In this case it would be the potential Aku could come back using Ashi if he killed Aku and left Ashi alive. Considering how high Aku's body count is...
I'm moving out of my dorm today. After I get situated back home, my three friends and I are going to binge the first nine episodes before the finale, since none of them have seen it.
Have they seen any Jack at all?
>When she dies it will be all your fault, you know. Just like the others. Did you tell her? Warn her? That everyone you love you also fail? You had no right to fall in love with her. Your misplaced heroism has only extended the suffering...again. and now you can't do the one thing that might serve as a measure of penance.
Post some cute Jashi please.
That one chick who did the sketch of Ashi pining for a wanted poster of Jack recently did a short comic of Jack explaining tag to Ashi that was fairly cute.
I've been watching Samurai Jack's first seasons and I'm most of the way through season 3. Which s3 and s4 eps are absolutely required to enjoy s5? I'm thinking about binging the new episodes today before the final episode comes out.
>Watch The Aku Infection
>Jack LITERALLY MURDERS a robot bystander for bumping into him by cutting him in half while under Aku's influences
>No problem
>Jack kills a half-Aku assasssin who attacked him of her own free will
>I'M SO GUILTY
wtf jack
Just watch it all before you watch the end, man. It's not important to do so, but it'll be a better ending if you know you went through the whole thing beforehand.
Hoping for the best ending
Jack makes no secret that he's a backwards organicist. Why do you think so many robots want him dead? They know how they'll be treated under Jack's rule.
He didn't kill the robot by his own will
...
Yeah but he still killed an innocent
fuck if someone mind-controlled me to shoot a random person that'd definitely fuck with me more than killing someone who's actively swinging a sword at me in self-defense
the more i watch of the old show the weirder the "jack don't like killin" plot point gets because there are so many times he's attacking something or someone with his sword no way or knowing they're a robot, not to mention all the robots that are clearly people
he also knocked two legitimate organics off a train riding on a high-up bridge over a horrible crag of spikes and by pure luck they were alright
Later in the episode he cuts up a fuckload of salamanders who were actively trying to help him, too.
At least at that point aku had basically full control but STILL, man
>someone with his sword no way or knowing they're a robot
gee, it's almost like that's exactly what he did in E2
this is ashi say something nice to her
But you can't see their faces so it's easy to make the assumption that they're probably robots
jack attacked a bunch of organics with his sword, deliberately endangered more, and iirc once was legitimately surprised when he cut off someone's limb and found out they were a robot
I'm just saying, I personally think it's weird that he not only avoided killing a single living being for 50 years, but is as distraught as he is when he finally does. I think it was a plotline that they wanted to do but ultimately didn't really need to happen.
The salamanders weren't cut, because the sword cannot kill innocents in evil hands.
They don't get sliced though, there's explicit bashing noises.
It's a cartoon.
Aww shit nigga that's right I forgot.
That means the robot didn't die or was actually a secret pederast.
No there wasn't, I'm watching it right now.
Why did they fly back? Why did the sword make the CHING CHING CHING sound? Why did the robot not count as an innocent? I guess you could argue that maybe he was secretly just a complete fucker but he was actively trying to avoid a fight and apologize to Jack so I feel like that's a stretch
The only justification to take is "it's just a cartoon, ignore it" but like season 5 is trying to be a serious cohesive story
Well this is my daughter Ashi
Perhaps the sword's effectiveness falls off with how evil you ear. Either way, the salamanders are not cut or dead.
I don't think this works on robots because they're not really alive and probably don't have chi. Robots also seem VERY fuzzy on which ones have 'real' senses of self and which ones are just programmed automatons.
The Salamanders definitely didn't die, but he was attacking them with the bladed end of his sword and they weren't completely unaffected like when Jack gut stabbed by Aku. Probably better to just not think about it.
The Bounty Hunters (which incidentally is one of my favorite episodes) is a lot harder to shrug off though given that the princess mentions they're surely going to die if they go through their retarded plans individually and the princess has no real reason to give up at the end if he just 'knocked them out' after attacking them with his sword.
>tfw night shift again
Will watch round 3 am then, there'd better be a mega..
I get off at 10:30 tonight. It's gonna be a fucking close one boys.
