Black Mirror

Why am I supposed to care about digital copies of people in video games or phone apps? They are just pieces of code, implying they have any kind of conscience is the stupidest thing ever. So why is Charlie Brooker making this the theme of every other episode now? Does he cry a little tear every time he kills an NPC in Call of Duty which I've seen him play?

Nice try Charlie.

kill all robo sympathisers

>this white man must die for what he did to his computer program
>right after I go kill this fetus growing inside me, which is just cell lumps

You are retarded, son.

t. psychopath

GIB
GIB NOW

the only possible comprehensible interpretation of that episode is as an anti-gamergate metaphor.
the NPCs were in the EXACT same situation at the end of the episode as they were at the start EXCEPT for white male domination.

What's the deal with this episode? Is the ending real? I feel like the dialogue of the AIs outside the time the commander was playing the game was just as cheesy and far-fetched as the Space Fleet stuff. Like that line about how removing her vagina is going too far. I felt like maybe this was implying that the whole escape scenario was itself just a part of the game or something. Or maybe it's just shitty writing. Thoughts?

>australians wake up
>immediately log onto Sup Forums to bitch about black mirror

... ?

His whiteness is tertiary to his embittered nerdness and factored not one iota in any part of the story.

white genocide now liberals get the bullet too

She posts pictures of her twat online for attention. Removing her twat removes her ability to get attention. 'Taking my pussy is crossing the line' -- her pussy is her only source of value and how she forms her identity, to take it is to deprive her of her social standing.

>someone is talking about tv on Sup Forums
>gotta be those australians! no, wait, it's Sup Forums again!

you write a novel(or whatever is your lifes work)

you take it to a publisher

they look it over and tell you 'nah'

they then replicate you as in the black mirrorverse

force you to write the exact thing you tried to sell them, then they sell and delete your copy

why should you care?

suppose you open your eyes as a copy, why should you care

youre a retard and as usual, i have to explain obvious shit to trolls

>She posts pictures of her twat online for attention

who does? i don't remember this being in the episode

you're really reading into this, huh

Why am I supposed to care about replicants with holographic gf's?

>implying they have any kind of conscience
>conscience

>Implying we're not already living in a simulation.

Why should you care about any film directed by Ridley Scott. Especially after Kingdom of heaven or Matchstick men

most of Sup Forums unironically believes this

If you think a real guy deserves to die because his way to cope with work pressure is torturing some game code, you are the real psychopath here.

It's literally one of the main plot points, and makes the ending possible. Your memory is shit.

that's probably what god is doing to you right now user, he's probably some loser in a cubicle in another dimension that got fed up so he made a whole bunch of copies of you and put you on a planet and watches you rape and kill yourself all day.

Is this post implying Ridley Scott directed Blade Runner 2049 or that Kingdom of Heaven and Matchstick Men were bad? Either way you're wrong.

Who the fuck invited Julien Offray de la Mettrie to this thread?

Uhh, user.....

Those were real people living inside a simulation though. The show exists in a world where computers can simulate the universe pretty accurately.

You retards really need to do some basic reading.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_room

What if everybody australians and shitpost all day for pay

>Sup Forums being so far up its own ass and having more empathy for game characters than for real people
Why am I not surprised?

it's consciousness retard

Ridley scott had influence over blade runner 2049. If you think he had no say into how the film was directed you are delusional. Then again this is Sup Forums where you cannot admit you are wrong

They are not just code, they are clearly clones with a conscience. They were basically experiencing the literal representation of hell. Imagine experiencing pain for eternity and never dying.

>clones
>no physical bodies
>literally code on a computer

wew

go back to /lit/ faggot.

her digital clone still has the password to her photocloud and blackmails herself via email into stealing back everyone's dna from callister. get off yer fuckin phone when you watch shit, kid

>should i keep scrolling or....
>any of the last 9 would do
i laughed

damn now i feel like an asshole for choosing the mean options in rpgs

It's just a program repeatedly outputting images and sounds based on complex algorithms and user input.

>So why is Charlie Brooker making this the theme of every other episode now?

Because he has become a one-trick pony, White Christmas, San Junipero and three episodes this season all about the same thing, AI being so advanced that it can emulate human consciousness.

>Oh, what if your programs can think and feel, how cruel would people be to them ?

Meanwhile right now in the real world, real people are treated ten times worse than in any episode of Black Mirror, but THINK ABOUT THE PROGRAMS IN THIS MADE UP FUTURE WHERE BITS OF CODE ARE SENTIENT.

Brooker is a fucking hack

calm down based rust cohle

Gib NPC gf

>for eternity and never dying
It's called being a made up thing in a software.

Every time you move something to the Recycle Bin you are dooming some code into an eternity in hell. Do you feel sorry for that too? What if it's sentient too?

Why the fuck didn't Daley program nudity into his fucking mod and fuck all the women senseless? He could have been cumming balls deep into a harem of sex slaves in his virtual world while exploring the galaxy

because it wasn't a sexual thing
it was far more sadistic

for some reason he refused to modify their code to compel behavior and he was too much of a coward to rape them.

like why not just take away their sentience?

Because he's a fucking autistic virgin and adding rape into the episode would have been a bridge too far for soyboy Brooker

Why didn't the woman from marketing who was turned into the first monster come back at the end?

yea his thing was breaking them down. otherwise he'd just modify their code and take away their sentience.

she got deleted with everyone else who wasnt on the ship

The point is that you're jumping to a conclusion about the idea of consciousness and sentience. If you really unravel what it means for a human to be sentient and self-aware, is it really anything more than just a bunch of chemical reactions involving inputs and outputs? Could those really not be mimic'd by a computer processor? Is self-awareness just a concept we created to make ourselves seem more important than we are in reality? An illusion, sort of.

>dude people are just machines made of meat lmao

The dating episode was pretty redpilled.

Imagine having this technology and not using it to create living sex dolls of your hot coworkers or celebrities

I would rather be tortured for a little while and killed than endure the same empty room for eternity

This but unironically.

>Meanwhile right now in the real world, real people are treated ten times worse than in any episode of Black Mirror, but THINK ABOUT THE PROGRAMS IN THIS MADE UP FUTURE WHERE BITS OF CODE ARE SENTIENT.

Isn't that, partly, their point? That is just Whatabouting the episode, which is pointless.

he was a manchild living out his childhood fantasies/issues that had nothing to do with sex

It's retarded, because video game characters still exist after being "killed." They don't get wiped from memory.

Hmmm interesting

>any film directed by
>but he didn't direct
>yes, but he had influence now admit you are wrong
Man the guy who called you a piece of biological code was right.

Even if consciousness could be created out of nothing Bible-style assuming mathematical algorithms inside a dating app could ever be sentient is some really heavy fairy-tale bullshit.

>blames BLM for always making everything about race, yet makes everything about the white race

The questions is when are they going to stop doing "digital version of you" plots.

Holy hell. The keep fucking doing it. Jesus Christ you can think up anything you want and you keep coming back to this.

>hs entire arc was more about his nerdiness and weird twisted fantasies
>make it about race

Sup Forumstards are truly just reverse SJWs

post the girl

What would be the fucking point of copying your coworkers DNA into a game if you can't rape them mercilessly for hours on end?

>everything has to be sexual

I don't understand why he didn't torture them more desu. And they had to play his stupid game for what, a couple of hours a night? Big woop

>Isn't that, partly, their point? That is just Whatabouting the episode, which is pointless.

The point that Black Mirror keeps repeating is 'what if programs become so advanced that they can think and feel', that is, programs that can mimic everything that makes a person a person. Assuming we could, what would we do with this 'power' ?

And his answer is the obvious, some people would do the same thing to these sentient programs that they would do to actual real people. WOW, what a fucking revelation! Please make more episodes exploring something this obvious.

Say that to the 100 of millions of news articles saying it is about RACE, fucktard.

Apart from food and water, it's most powerful motivator our species have.

>a couple of hours a night

Alright, just ignore the fact that they were literally tortured, one had his kid blown out the airlock, and he has the ability to choke you permanently without you dying.

Sounds like endless fun.

>he died because he deserved it
He died because he fucked up

Also, how much fun is it playing a game that no one else wants to play? I'd rather have a game with real NPC's that actually believe they're in that universe, not a bunch of people that hate your guts and roll their eyes at you behind your back.

whats even the point of watching this stuff if you can't suspend your disbelief? the experience of the game code is theoretically no different than the experience of people in "real life". you are unironically a brainlet if you cant even entertain this idea

That doctor would love that place.

...

But the kid isn't fucking real and the guy knows that? I don't get why he was so upset about it, he was just some code and he said himself that he'd prefer to die than be stuck there

lets be real if you could have a private version of infinity there would be some wild shit going on kek

fuck AIs

But it's not about race, it was about an angry nerd, if it was about race and the whole white supremacist thing, I'd imagine he'd treat the black guys worse, and yet it was the VC that is his boss IRL who got fucked everytime. It was about revenge and power trips, not race

All those articles making it about race are retarded, and you the underaged stray Sup Forumstards are just as bad. Truly reverse SJWs

Different episodes are just exploring different things that could happen in the same basic scenario.
>his answer is the obvious
the overwhelming majority of television is about shit that follows a completely obvious story arc. it's about how the details are fleshed out. why are you even on this board

That would be a much more interesting episode than the shitty Star Trek my mysgonisitc Nazi ruler fucking episode.

Since the technology he had could of made him fucking millions, reproducing people's memories in an afterlife similar to reboot.

>most of Sup Forums unironically believes this
If you unironically believe humans are more than chemical machines you don't know shit about biology

I honestly believe people would do more imaginative things, looking at the 3D porn threads on /gif/.

And that isn't true, look at the episode list.
One is about tapping into memories
One is about robotic guard dogs
One is about tracking people

Did you watch every episode?

Since we're in the subject, does the world of White Christmas piss anybody off too?

For me the tech in the ep and the world buildt around it makes so little sense that it retroactively destroys the whole episode

How the fuck can you think of those cookies and NOT immediatly think of a HAL-9000 situation? In what fucking legal system would a confession made by a goddamn software copy of the brain of a man detained in a small house for ten fucking years fly in court? Why the fuck would the policeman purposely TORTURE the copy in a universe when AI is basically alive AND YOU CAN INTERACT WITH IT? And what even is the point of real life blocking? Oh no I'm gonna block you so I can just see your silhouette and hear you muffed screams instead of talking things through oh no wait don't fucking murder me who could have thought that the same technological equivalent of blocking my ears and scream LALALA I DON'T HEAR YOU would piss people off the humanity

the stream-dating stuff was actually legit tho

>DNA somehow contains memories and skills
Did this bother anyone else?

>get separated from the one thing you love the most
>the only person capable of bringing them back can also make you watch that thing be torn away right in front of you in the most horrific way
>again and again and again

>just turn your brain off and enjoy it
I'm good, thanks.

>implying they have any kind of conscience is the stupidest thing ever.
If you're refusing to accept the conceit of the episode, then of course you're not going to like it.

The show tells you that they are conscious, sentient beings. You have to accept that idea in order to go along for the ride and interact with the philosophical questions the show is posing. If you refuse to accept the basic premise, then there's no point in discussing it. You might as well be going, "DNA-based video games don't exist! I can't relate to any of this!"

It's dumb.

So to answer your question, you were supposed to care because they aren't just pieces of code. And if you refuse to accept this, then you wasted your time watching the episode.

>Different episodes are just exploring different things that could happen in the same basic scenario.

Bullshit, only San Junipero was different, the rest are all the exact same theme, some people with this kind of power will be cruel. No shit!?

Even if you take this "route", he made a device that could replicate humans exactly and this where the whole episode falls flat and is utterly retarded, as by half way through the episode he realizes the copies he made had the memorize intact counteractive to the start of the episode where it was established they were unaware they existed in real life.

The best revenge would of been, present this technology and he's a fucking brianic do something as communicate with dead people who about to die and ask the question are these replicants are really alive?

For the Star Trek episode to work, they needed to be souless shells for this episode to work and the only way it works is to replace Robert Daly as Charlie SJW Booker and the crew as his staff, it an analogy how Mr booker shoves his agenda down people throats and if you don't see that your fucking worse than Sup Forumstards.

Sup Forums is so contrarian that they can't suspend belief for speculative fiction even though they claim to be major fans.

>"DNA-based video games don't exist! I can't relate to any of this!"
I mean DNA sure as fuck doesn't store the memories of it's owner

A little, it's silly, but it didn't ruin the episode

The blocking thing falls down when you think about it for more than ten seconds which I am guessing Brooker the hack fraud never did
>He can no longer see a doctor
>Can no longer communicate to buy things
>Can no longer identify a suspect if he witnesses a crime
>Can no longer respond to EMTs if he injures himself
>Can no longer call 999 in the event of an emergency
You can likely come up with 50 more examples as to why it just doesn't make any sense as a punishment outside of "Oooooooh technology scary"

As implausible as the whole concept is, not really, not even the anonymous/pedo kid story made any sense logically, Black Mirror doesn't give a shit about a coherent storyline, it just wants to put some point across.

Fucking this.

Its god damned Sci-Fi, you can break the rules because its fiction.
