I don't have a convincing way of proving it to you, but you're wrong.
Anyway, as the guy who posted the vigilant citizen link, I would claim that it's only one interpretation, but a compelling one.

>Is it about Harford's marriage and sex problems?
Yeah mostly this, it's been awhile since I saw the movie, but the main themes revolved around the jelousy and distrust of man leading him to ridiculous decisions.
Here we have Tom Cruise's wife tell him a story on how she almost cheated on him with some guy she met at an airport. And even though she didn't, that jelousy started to consume him. Instead of trying to fix the problems their relationship had since the beginning of the movie (trying to make each other jelous by flirting with other people at a party), he straight up goes to a fucking prostitute, who could have given him a serious STD since she died from it before he had the chance to have sex with her.
And these events just lead him to some sex cult which lead to paranoia of him being followed. I took the cult aspect of the move as something meant to be juxtaposed with Tom Cruz' doubts of his marriage. But I don't know, maybe I'll figure out a deeper meaning behind it on my rewatch.
