>He ceased to be Anakin Skywalker and became Darth Vader. When that happened, the good man that was your father was destroyed. So what I told you was true.. from a certain point of view.
>From my point of view the Jedi are evil! >Then you are lost!
What a fucking hypocrite. How can he use a certain point of view as an excuse when people with certain points of view are lost to him?
Again they retconned Vader as Anakin, so they had to write that in, they had no fucking choice.
Brody Howard
What did Lucas mean by this?
Leo Harris
Couldn't he have a better excuse than a certain point of view as Anakin's certain point of view is what led him to cut off his arms and legs? Or was the point of view pottery?
Juan Rogers
attacking beloved decades old movies isn't going to help your current pile of shit, disney shills
Austin Taylor
It was pottery, and it was retconned again in the prequels
>ONLY A SITH DEALS IN ABSOLUTES >U becum a Sith? U dead 2 me bro
Lucas should have never been let out of his cage. He couldn't even check the "thousand generations" thing, you'd think he'd care for anything else at all?
Mason Wilson
but they own the old movies too
Joseph Young
They don't want anything to do with them; only Disney-produced material.
James Price
I'm not attacking the OT or the PT I'm questioning Obi-wan's true nature. Why does he feel that the certain point of view that justifies his wording to Luke isn't lost, but that Anakin's certain point of view is? What causes a certain point of view to be lost? Does he lack any form of self awareness and objectivity?
Landon Wilson
>I was afraid of what you would do when you found out. Wrack yourself with insurmountable guilt? Take off to fight him? Join him? Only through the Force would the answer be made clear, so I put you on the journey, to mastering your power and learning the ways of the Jedi so that when the day came for you you to face the truth, you would be prepared to make that choice.
Elijah Carter
>watch OT and believe Luke's father was a good guy who lost his way >watch prequels and realize he was a dickhead from the word go
Hunter Miller
So Obi-wan used Vader's methods of certain points of view to manipulate Luke into a path that would defeat Vader? Doesn't that been Obi-wan dabbled into the Dark Side if he fought fire with fire, or in this case points of view with points of view?
Henry Powell
Considering what was at stake, I guess you could say he had the moral highground.
Kevin Sanchez
From a certain point of view

His issue wasn't with the concept of having a differing point of view, his issue was with believing that the jedi are evil.
Gavin Williams
He outright stated the Jedi being evil was, and I quote, "[his] point of view" If Obi-wan has issue with Anakin seeing the Jedi as evil, then he has inherent issue with certain points of view.
Nathan Robinson
Personally i liked the idea of the death star having a weakness just by pure coincidence.
The idea that only a force wielder could make the shot made it as "its never gonna happen" type thing as all the jedi were dead.
But that being changed to "lol this guy designed it to happen" is just fucking stupid.
He designed it to have a weakness that needed absolute bullshit accuracy? fuck off, its like they found the weakness and then someone shouted, "I bet he did that for us"
Ryan Collins
they want to trash them and they can't even distribute a new hope anyway, fox still has it
Aiden Gonzalez
This is what happens when you have a movie franchise that has to be entirley based around the plot of 3 old as fuck sci fi movies. Eventually you run out of shit to write about and have to make up lore that paves over any good intention of the original scenes.
Hell, Rogue One shouldn't exist. The Death Star plans were already stolen by Kyle Katarn
Colton Wright
>rogue one wasn’t a Kyle Katarn movie >rogue one wasn’t a horror film about Vader chasing down Rebel spies
So many dashed dreams.
Bentley Bell
How is that an argument against what I said? He didn't have an issue with the concept of differing points of view, he had an issue with believing jedi are evil. You're claiming he's hypocritical for criticizing Anakin's point of view yet promoting his own point of view, but that's because you weirdly fixated on a repeated phrase. I'll try to make this simpler. When Anakin says "well from my point of view, the jedi are evil" Obi-wan doesn't think "oh my gosh, point of view? I hate the concepts of people having points of view" Obi-wan instead thought "the jedi aren't evil. If you'v gone so far as to believe the jedi are evil, you are lost." Based on this, it's not hypocritical for Obi-wan to say "what I told you was true from a certain point of view," because Obi-wan isn't against the concept of points of view." To make this even simpler, I'll rewrite the dialogue so the phrase isn't repeated, so you can understand it further. First from ROS >"Well in my personal opinion, the jedi are evil" >"Then you are lost!" Then from ANH >"He ceased to be Anakin Skywalker and became Darth Vader. When that happened, the good man that was your father was destroyed. So what I told you was true.. if you look at it in a less literal manner and instead read into the spirit of what I said" Now that the phrase isn't repeated, do you see that these scenes have nothing to do with each other and Obi-wan isn't being a hypocrite in either one?

The flaw was the Death Star exploding once the reactor blew up, not the vent itself. No one but Luke would've made the shot.
Joseph Barnes
If this was true they wouldn't of needed the plans.
Ryder Sullivan
They didn't know the port was there and connected to the reactor chamber directly.

Obi Won came to the later understanding after decades of reflecting on his best friend and padawan's demise. He came to understand that he was wrong, and the line about "only a Sith deals in absolutes" was intentionally ironic, because it was supposed to signify Obi Won's enlightened approach later in the OT.
Nicholas Williams
The plans were to find out how to access the core.
I like that in TLJ they have the plan of Snoke's destroyer in their archive, up to the very room that they can zoom on, and that Finn could tell exactly what to do because he conveniently was a janitor at this critical part of the bad guys base/ship, even though they have fully operational robots that would remove any purpose of human janitors. Hell, given the surface of the Death Star, how many of the men stationned there were just janitors, cooks, or barbers?
Ryder Cox
If it were coincidence, the rebels would NEVER ever find it in time. If a weakness existed purely by chance, it would have been the impossible task to find it. The hero would be the person or the droid who managed to identify the single weak spot in this gigantic chunk of metal, not the guy who made the shot.
Isaiah Walker
Dear not my son,
I have dropped you off at a moisture farmers house, cause your dad wants to kill me. He was a good fruend so I stole you and your sister.
