>Producers: "Crap, the lead actors have outgrown their roles. If we can't find a solution, we can't continue with a sequel."

>Blender: "Hold my beer. I'm about to rock this joint."

Just mocap my shit up

Nobody uses blender in actual production. Who ever designed it’s UI should feel ashamed of themselves

The UI us the same level of clusterfuck as other CG software.

>I use Blender instead of 3ds

When you learn the hotkeys, the UI won't matter. Your efficiency will blast through the roof.

post your guys porn patreons already

Not really.

Still not a proponent of AAA studio pipelines. Absolutely not a factual assertion.

I've seen someone use fucking silo in professional work, an actually mainstream product like blender is absolutely seeing use even if in an incredibly specific fashion

what an understatement, blender is the worst designed program I've ever used.

>Download blender
>60MB
>download 3ds
>60GB
What is that 59.3GBs used for?

Industry stuff

3ds Max is Windows-only and not available for macOS or Linux.

>OP downloaded blender for the first time and wants to talk about episode again
Do we really need this shit in current year. Nobody uses blender, get out.

I want to learn to how to blender

no you really dont

Maya then

Who gives a shit? It's in every pipeline and if you're not using it, you're annoying and everyone hates you.

Don't. I get a feeling Max finally won. It's everywhere now for some reason. Just learn Max.

Isn't Maya the 3D industry standard, the Photoshop of CGI?

i think max and maya are the same program, just like final cut pro and adobe premiere

desu I can believe modern blockbusters are made using blender, free assets and pajeets

There are clauses in SAG union contract that specifically bans use of an actor's likeness (including having a lookalike actor to fill in) without an explicit agreement beforehand.

No, both Max and Maya were always used. Maya is most popular with animators, Max with modelers. Both are owned by the same company, but UI is widely different. There was a period when Maya was most popular, now seems to be a period when Max is most popular.

>who gives a shit
Anyone who values their freedom.

No, very different. They do they same thing but in very different ways and with different options available

Huh, I've used both casually and they've worked very similarly for me. I think they're even made by the same people

max and maya are really different in use. Maya is mostly used in the VFX/game industry and Max is mostly used for architectural visualisation. Both have their pros and cons.

>he doesn't use cinema4d
jesus do you want to be unemployable or something?

they where originally made by different companies but are now both owned by Autodesk

Even on a casual level they're pretty different. The big difference is you're supposed to use stacks of modifiers when working in Max and all of those modifiers can be turned on and off easily and that makes modelling more flexible.

Now it's pretty much only max, Maya was popular for a while for modelling but max introduced a lot of new tools which made Maya sort of outdated in comparison.

i use Cinema 4D a lot for production, it's really user friendly. unfortunately a lot of big companies still use the industry standard maya. But more and more studios are starting to use cinema 4D in their pipelines

>Autodesk
>unorganized jumble of a bunch of acquired products
>every product has its own UI logic that is completely different from another Autodesk product
>zero effort to harmonize them
>3ds Max doesn't even run on anything other than Windows
>if your tool gets acquired by Autodesk, you just know the price is going to go up by at least 200% (e.g. EAGLE)

that's why you should use C4D instead

Are you retarded. Maya is like 50 times as popular as Max in the industry

>"Use this software if you want a job!"
>"No, don't be stupid, you'll never find success with that. Use THIS software instead!"
>"No, don't use either of those, use this one!"

Agh... I want to go into CGI animation, but I don't know which software to go with and I'm so doggone confused!

mmd is the place where the money is at right now

Just pick one and learn to animate.
Being able to make natural looking animations is what employers are looking for, software can be learned very quickly.

and if you want enginer jobs there are even more shit of app wars: Autodesk or Solidworks. All with different breeds for architectual or mechanic or electrical designs

a noob here, tho, who tried most of them

*meant AutoCAD

I'm sure as long as the actors are getting royalties, most of them will be more than happy to cooperate.

I wish they would do this for Narnia.

Blender is free.

I wish they would have done it with A Series of Unfortunate Events. They wanted to make a sequel but the actors grew too old. I don't mind Malina Weissman, but I would love to see Emily Browning play Violet Baudelaire once more.

They all work pretty much the same way, if you learn one you should understand the rest.

Mikumikudance? The fuck is this.

Seriously did XSI have to die to see commies and matrix dressed faggots fighting over dead software

H A T S U N E M I K U

Linux is a good operating system for 3D rendering.

Both Pixar and Dreamworks use Linux.

>Both Pixar and Dreamworks use Linux.

no they don't, they use renderman

/3/ here. 3d Fundamentals is what you need (i.e: want to become a 3d animator? learn how human anatomy works / learn the basic principles of rigging), the program would be the second one.

>3ds is mostly used for general modelling and gaymes
>Maya is used mostly for movies and post-prods
>Blender is free and somewhat good for both
>C4D is mostly used for motion graphics and tv card billboards
There are other good 3d programs too such as Rhino, Modo, Zbrush etc.

How good is Modo as a daily driver?

Better UI than Max/Maya IMO, they're in Blender territory in terms of ease of use, it has fantastic modeler/renderer and great UV tools, and it plays very well with other packages, good licensing too

the only cons that I can think of is lack of documentations and tutorial (You're better off learning 3ds/Maya and switch to Modo),
