There are people on this very board, who will still argue that this wasn't the best Spider-Man cartoon series.
Those people are wrong.

No, Spider-Man: The New Animated Series is the second or third best.
Barnes was a GOAT Spidey voice.
Too bad he died a horrible death in Spiderverse.
Or did the new Secret Wars fix all that?
I won't argue the point. I will say that Spider-Man is a boring shitty character though.
Spectacular Spider-man was the best cartoon.
This show was fucking filled with amazing voices.
Kingpin was AMAZING; Alistair was great, Eddie Brock.
"A" implies there's an equal. It's up there with Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill in BTAS in terms of perfect casting.
Holy fuck. Ed Asner was JJ?
Roscoe Lee Browne will always be THE Kingpin.
This shit is only so beloved because of nostalgia.
It tried way too hard to be like Batman TAS but lacked the budget and attention to detail, it didn't take inspiration from a single Spider-Man run, it didn't bother to adapt classic self-contained issues, it just lacked a unified vision altogether.
Spectacular was a much better attempt. It picked a single classic run to take most of its direction from (Lee/Ditko). They spent money for great animation and top-tier writers. It took influence from the movies without just being moviefag pandering.
>other people liked this one
Damn. I'm not alone anymore.
>Cartoons don't look this Aryan anymore.
Wasn't that the Spider-Man from the Spider-man and his Amazing firends?
No, it was Spider-Man from Spider-Man Unlimited, which isn't canon to TAS according to Marvel editorial /and/ the official creators of TAS.
>Barnes will never come back as Spidey.
Why does it hurt so much? I just want all these guys back as their characters for one other series. It doesn't even have to be tied to TAS, they're just that good.
Unfortunately he can't because fucking everyone is on the Spider-Man has to always be a kid train. Barnes sounded like a MAN, and that won't fly with the new Homecoming inspired direction the're going for.
Why do they always pick the worse version of Spider-Man to adapt?
I can acknowledge on an intellectual level that Spectacular is better, but TAS holds a special place in my heart.
It had the best fucking intro
SPIDERMAN, SPIDERMAN *Guiatr solo*
It happened so gradually we didn't see it coming. Unfortunately, kid Spider-man is the version that most people are familiar with these days.
>I'LL CHASE YOU TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH
I watched this series all the way through recently, it's fucking great
>my mysterious benefactor will be interested in this research
>mfw when it's always kingpin
There are people on this very board who will argue with autistic screeching.
OP is a clear example
Parker was way too fucking "chad" in this, he looked like pussy destroying line breaker.
He came back for Shattered Dimensions. He was Noir Spidey.
SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOCKER
If you wanna hear Barnes as, at least, an iteration of Spider-Man, you should play some of the games.
He plays Noir in Shattered Dimensions, 2099 in Edge of Time and Superior in Marvel Heroes.
because he was based on the original Peter Parker and not the prissy beta male that he's become since then
This one was great. It's a very rare instance of an adaptation getting everything about Spider-Man right. They changed things, but at its core it was faithful to the character Lee and Ditko created.
The best part was his character growth, especially at the ending when he made peace with his tragedies and was satisfied with how he had been living his life. CDB really portrayed that well so that scene really stuck with me.
Based fucking Morbius
anyone else feel bad for Eddie Brock in this series? Early on he was genuinely just trying to live his life and Spiderman keeps accidentally fucking everything up for him
The show was ridiculously crippled by censorship and age rating though.
The shoulder tackle into wall got old even as a kid.
Downloading this series and rewatching it was the best decision i ever made
Its kino
He was based on the Romita era Spidey, who was fairly buff for an acrobatic superhero.
Mark Hamil used his Joker voice for the Hobgoblin.
No! Fuck this vampire asshole! He was a piece of shit who stole Peter's blood, turned himself into a vampire and we're supposed to feel bad for him? Bullshit, he's the worst character in the damn show.
Eddie was a bit of a shit, though.
>Its a Spiderman becomes a literal spider episode
That shit fucked me up as a kid
He stole Black Cat away with his mopey bullshit.
Yeah but he wasn't actively malicious, he was just a bit of a douche but he was still trying to earn an honest buck and live his life
Censorship was worthless in the show considering all the messed up body horror and nightmare fuel that happened in this show.
90s Spiderman was a great superhero cartoon and an excellent horror cartoon.
Kraven was alpha as fuck
That arc ended in the bombed out basement of the WTC.
Arguably the best toy line up in the 90s.
Spiderman did 9/11
This show had a fucking amazing cast of side characters
They fucking used Kraven for fucks sake
>The police were constantly after him
Only thing I didn't like.
I always wondered how this show would have handled Kraven's Last Hunt.
No he did 2/26/93.
Blade was a total fucking dick in this show
It was all fucking Morbius's fault. When Morbius became a vampire he ran away from the hospital following a fight with Spider-Man, so they thought Spider-Man kidnapped him and was stealing people's blood, (it was actually Morbius doing that). Fucking Morbius.
I thought his voice was hilarious for some reason.
The JJJ media empire didn't help, even though JJJ himself actually came across as a pillar of the community and bastion of good journalism (even if he was a little misguided)
I thought Blade was cool as fuck. Even now I still think he's charming in an odd way.
Oh yeah don't get me wrong he was great. Most of what made him great is that he was an unnecessarily belligerent asshole with a lightsabre
It felt like almost everyone from Marvel was in this.
Reminder that David Hayter did the voice of Captain America in this show
>reminder that this prune looking bitch sent the fucking PUNISHER to murder the shit out of Peter Parker on just a suspicion.
unfortunately it is
Old people are terrible human beings. This is nothing new.
What was the most kino season?
You now remember this show straight up killed Mary Jane
I actually hoped that it would become a permanent power boost for him. Like his own form of Super Saiyan or something.
That whole arc was awesome and was my introduction to Captain America.
the one where Mary-Jane turned into water and died again
Barnes did a great job with the cries of anguish
Punisher/Kraven team up. Hell this show had spidey solo the x-men & secret wars
>kids show
>literally kills several characters
How did they get away with it?
youtube.com
>RADIO ACTIVE
>SPIDER BLOOD
people weren't such pussies back then.
Because clones don't count as people according to this show's logic.
and the real Mary Jane didn't die she just got lost between dimension for eternity
This show had amazing world building
yeah unlike ME BATMAN right bro XD???
This was the hypest Spider-Man theme of all time. They'll never top it.
>t didn't bother to adapt classic self-contained issues,
>the birth of venom
>the sinister six
>the 100-102 arc with Spidey growing extra arms and Morbius
>the kid who collected Spider-Man
>that arc when Spidey lost his memory and worked with Doc Ock
>SECRET WARS
>CLONE SAGA
Do you know how many fears I got from this? How many things scared me shitless as a kid?
Morbius and Blade's mother.
Man-spider Peter.
But you know what was it that freaking terrified me for some reason?
Beast Calypso.
Poor kid-user was terrified at her.
Honestly, that whole man/beast mix with the lines blurred, freaked me out as a kid.
Especially for women, for some reason.
Same issue with the Wendigo from Charmed.
>based on the original Peter Parker
Classic parker
Being charged with all that Alpha SpiderMale energy.
>People still think that 90's Marvel cartoons are good.
Has there ever been a stronger case against nostalgiafaggotry its this.
>The symbiote nabbing Peter and eating him near the end
So fucking kino
That's high school Peter, and he didn't have to hide behind a mask to talk shit to people to pissed him off.
This was about University Age Spider-Man.
Sorry for what's probably a dumb question, but is that TAS or SSM?
How do you enjoy your Spectacular Norman Osborn who's a flat moustache-twirling bad guy compared to the 90s Norman Osborn who's actually a character?
>that flower vase
>Chad Spiderman
Worked suprisingly well
It's Spider-Man: The Animated Series (TAS) from the 1990s.
SSM is from the 2000s.
>tried way too hard to be like Batman TAS
The fuck are you smoking? Batman TAS was an episodic, slow, dark-colored show. Spider-Man TAS was a serialized, fast, bright-colored show. Probably the most obvious difference is that Batman doesn't monologue while Spider-Man monologues whenever nobody else is talking.
The only thing that scared me was the cliffhanger of the ogirinal Insidious Six (was Sinister really such a spooky name?) storyline where Chameleon turned into messed-up Aunt May and laughed.
I love it
But 60's Spiderman was superior
>90s Norman Osborn who's actually a character?
Thank you. Haven't seen the former since it originally aired and never seen the latter.
...
SSM Norman
>I'm already rich, but I wanna be a crime boss because ???
>EVERYTHING was part of my plan.
Holy shit, my heart is in pieces.
It really just can't be. It makes no sense. Why are Venom and Carnage there? Where did spider-man get the nano suit?
Unlimited as a mistake.
This now a MADAME WEB thread.
How come this show is the only time I have ever seen this character? She seems like a cool concept.
Mysterio does die in this show though. Kingpin also has his father killed off-screen.
Those are the ones I can recall off the top of my head.
they tried to go for the pokemon crowd so badly but wanted to cash in on TAS' popularity as well, pretty terrible what we ended up with
Why is it so satisfying to hear this Spiderman tell people off in such a tone? it sounds great
