Remunder that people actually legitimately proclaim San Junipero (the time travel lesbian one) as the best episode in the entire series.

What's the TRUE best episode of Black Mirror and why is it Hated in the Nation?

Tbh all of the episodes, including season 4 memes left a lasting effect on me for the duration of the day and that's all I can really ask.

>The Hated in the Nation virgin vs The Waldo Moment Chad

White Bear, because it takes the overall premise of the show to its logical conclusion.

Shut up and dance you plebs

White Christmas.
Good topic (mob justice) but the fact that wasn't the point of the episode initially until the twist was added is obvious, the storytelling in the episode is pretty sloppy.

What's the time line for the show, and would Metal Head be at the end of the timeline due to its apocalyptic nature? Seems kinds of weird that those dogs would be mass produced after what happened with the bees.

youtu.be/6WqA4aI5Aiw

the bees were lame i think

this

15 Million Merits. Dunno why that one doesn't get more love, I think it had the best worldbuilding of any of the bleak dystopian futures and the most satisfying (in keeping with the general theme of the show) ending

Shut Up and Dance and The Entire History of You are up there. White Bear too but the ending after the reveal is dragged out a little too long. Hang the DJ felt like San Junipero done right, never understood why that ending was considered happy, it's pretty horrific if you think about it for like a second

I still think san junipero or whatever was the best episode by a country mile precisely because you could substitute the leads for whatever sex/race you want and it wouldn’t affect the touching story one bit. Genuinely think it’s excellent. And I fucking HATE 80s nostalgia aesthetic

oi m8 wouldn't it be mental if ya gran was a machine

What was the point of the gamer nerd in that episode, the one that was always at the arcade in all the eras?

>Touching story
Stop this meme, the ending is pretty horrific and I don't know why people cant see that

>ywn live in the fatshaming universe where you're paid to get fit
Fifteen Million Merits is actually my favorite, though, because it's a meta commentary on the show itself.

Of course it would affect the story. Part of the plot revolves around intolerance about sexuality.

White Christmas
Apparently it was so good now every episode should explore some of the same themes that were present in it

>What's the TRUE best episode of Black Mirror
S04 the one with the couples and dating

I've re-watched that episode three times now, and I still have no idea what the point of that place was. Judging from the final shot being that sprawling ominous forest, I thought maybe it was an off-world colony and everyone were prisoners who were basically used as an energy source or something, or it was the far future and the Earth had reclaimed the planet after a natural disaster.

The guy at the hotel front desk on Crocodile makes a remark about one of the Hot Shot's judges, so those two episodes are apparently running in parallel or close to it, so why the fuck is there what appears to be a dystopia human-hamster scenario and a normal town both existing at the same time?

Crocodile can't be set on another planet or even that far into the future because we see the tech is way shittier than the Waldo future ending, so did they simply fuck up?

>(the time travel lesbian one)
Are you retarded? San Junipero literally had zero fucking time travel.

It's horrific if you're familiar >he guy at the hotel front desk on Crocodile makes a remark about one of the Hot Shot's judges, so those two episodes are apparently running in parallel or close to it, so why the fuck is there what appears to be a dystopia human-hamster scenario and a normal town both existing at the same time?
I really doubt that episodes are supposed to be connected other than few simple refereneces here and there for fanservice sake.

>he thinks an anthology show actually has a "timeline"
4/10 weak bait

This, do people don't realize that living in eternity is worse than dying?

It also shows an advertisement for "Wraith Babes" when she's looking through the porno options on the TV, which is connected to 15 Million Merits. I think it was just subtle fan service though.

>unironically picking a season 3 or 4 episode as the best
lmao

>I think it had the best worldbuilding of any of the bleak dystopian future
Absolutely agree, the only thing I didn't like about Fifteen Million Merits was that so many questions about the world were left unanswered. I get why they left the mechanics of the world vague, but it was such a well executed yet unique snapshot of a sci-fi dystopia that it kept me curious about the setting the throughout the plot. The writers could have done so many more interesting/horrifying things with that world.

>sprawling ominuous forest
I think you're missing the point. He wasn't looking out of a window, he was staring at a larger/more convincing screen. He had simply replaced one kind of distraction for another

this lol

Except every single episode has nods to other episodes, and Black Museum just flat out confirms it's all set in the same universe.

best BM episode is either the waldo moment or be right back, after 53%flix acquired BM it all went to shit and turned from a dark look at technology to a complete mess of melodrama and half assed moralfaggottery
>death note with bees
LMFAO

Look at the last scene again, there's a parallax effect as the camera moves. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be a real window. The point at the end is that the main character's message is neutered and turned into a commodity of the system itself in an ironic twist of fate. Probably an intentional meta commentary on Black Mirror itself.

What's the bee meme? I have seen all episodes and I flat out cannot remember bees. Was the episode that forgettable?

I always reckoned that either 15 Million Merits is a work of fiction in the Black Mirror universe, with stuff like Hot Shots being references to "real" shows. This seems to be the case with the comic your man is reading in the Bear bit in Black Museum.
Either that or Merits takes place very far on in the timeline, but the media establishment uses IPs like Hot Shots from before whatever fucked the world.

Alternatively, and I want to preface this by saying this is the most out-there theory of all: Charlie Brooker is just messing with us and the links are just fun call-backs and not to be taken seriously

>Entire show revolves around neural interfaces and their advancement over time
>They still haven't done a future episode that deals with the human race transcending into software or machines

But guys, we REALLY needed that dating ap episode and the lesbian simulator

shoo shoo brainlet

But San Junipero is the best. How can you hate neo-80s?

How in the hell is this episode rated so highly for? It in no way at all felt like a Black Mirror episode.

I'm going to be straight with you guys. You taste sucks.

In order:
Entire History of You
White Christmas
Be Right Back
Fifteen Million Merits
Pig fucking one

The rest are either average or complete shit.

Entire History of You is prime BM kino

normies love normie shit

>Start watching Black Mirror on the weekend
>COMFY BRIT MODE INITIATED
>Suddenly there's an American episode, it's absolutely shit
>As the series goes on I notice the British episodes are absolute kino, while the Amerifat episodes are generic leftist-ideology pushing swear and gore fests

it's the only one that's structured for an anthology.

none of the other episodes set up characters or story in a way that's suitable for the time constraints so viewers end up not giving a fuck

it's about as subtle as an ipad to the face

What's the one where the cartoon becomes a dictator?

Yeah, part of it. I retract “whatsoever”. Very little had to change.

Well you can argue that eternity with a true love is tantamount to heaven. You’ve no idea.

The father from White Christmas who finds out his kid is a half-mong would say otherwise.

dont know what you're saying with this

About to start the 5th episode of the 3rd Season and there is already a nigge

Is this an american episode and if so is it any good?

All the episodes in the first 2 seasons were very depressing and had social commentary. San Junipero was the complete opposite of what Black Mirror was supposed to be. It was pretty episode with a happy ending and had zero social commentary.

Hang the DJ was kind of positive (with the simulation system being intentionally designed with the purpose of people disobeying it) but at least it felt sad before the happy ending and it's still fucked up if you think about it.

The best episode is White Christmas imo. 15M Merits and Black Museum were amazing too.

The ending of White Christmas (when they leave the guy at 1000 years per minute for more than an entire day) is the cruelest and most fucked up thing I've seen in any TV show.

As in he was a good 3 dimensional character who had a good pay off and decent development.

>Be Right Back
>Hated in the Nation
>Crocodile
The Brits have their fair share of cumbersome & forgettable episodes.

Basically. The American ones are bloody awful and all have happy endings so the audience can clap.

that wasn't this season

My top three are
1. White Christmas
2. Shut Up and Dance
3. White Bear

I love the ones where the main character is just having a panic attack throughout the whole thing.

You never specified that you were only talking about season 4

Even the truest lovebirds will get sick of each other after a century or two. Hence the need for the bondage club.

I also loved The Entire History of You and Be Right Back. S1 and 2 were much better than S3 and 4, and 4 was better than 3.

Last episode from season 3
And yes, it was pretty bad and unnecessarily long.

Playtest would be a great idea for a full length horror movie, but as an episode it wasn't well executed.

>4 was better than 3
Gonna have to disagree there. Season three had some really good shit like Shut Up and Dance and Men Against Fire. I really didn't like anything from 4. The only ep that had that punch in the gut feeling was Crocodile- but it had a really flat ending.

White christmas is a gigantic piece of shit because leaving him to that punishment is fucking ridiculous. 1000 years just because why not since there's nothing to gain for it. The whole process with cookiws is completely fucked up and in order to accept it in our life we will have to stop being humans, same with the block thing. It's so bleak and grimdark that warhammer is a party compared with that bullshit. It's absurd and depressing becausw that is deep man you know?
Fuck, the whole series is like this. I got bored of watching it in season 2, it felt tryhard as fuck. The only good episode that I remember is the one with the memory rewind thing that allowed you to go back and watch previous events. The characters there were human. Pricks, but not hearthless monsters.

Yes. Best episode.

Men Against Fire doesn't have a happy ending. Though that said, I'm not a massive fan of that episode.
Nosedive is arguably happy in that Lacey experiences catharsis in being able to speak her mind to your other man, but it's in a John the Savage sort of way. She's still incompatible with her society, and is incapable of doing anything about said society. Her best hope if she gets released is to become like the trucker woman.
San Junipero is also arguable. While it does end on an upbeat note, I feel like it does pose the question *Can* heaven be a place on Earth?, and I'd say how you feel about that says something about your values.

Why do you like Shut up and Dance? It was just a regular blackmail plot
Am I being trolled?

White bear was awful. Had to watch a shitty screaming negress protagonist for 1 hr to get a shamalayan "tweest".

White Christmas is the only good episode of this show tbqh

This show should have more 'muh ambiguity' endings desu. Crocodile should've ended when she heard the baby. Hang the DJ should've ended with them both getting 'killed' but without us finding out whether or not it was a sim.

I don't understand why they need to "punish" the cookie. Isn't the real guy in jail? Just destroy the thing instead of pointlessly subjecting it to cruel and unusual punishment.

>It's White Christmas but the AI is good guys
>It's White Christmas but with someone directly controlling the filter
>It's White Christmas but with even more emotionally charged murder
>It's White Christmas but it's also San Junipero
>It's White Christmas but instead of being sympathetic the guy's just evil and Jon Hamm is a black lady
>But Charlie, we still need another episode!
>Evil robot dogs?

It has a basic plot but the great acting and writing really make you give a shit about the protag and empathise with him, which is something many of the Black Mirror episodes really struggle with- especially season 4

They love cheese pizza SO much that even the mere mention of it makes them that fucking happy

>Crocodile should've ended when she heard the baby
Agreed
>Hang the DJ should've ended with them both getting 'killed' but without us finding out whether or not it was a sim.
Nah because you would be left not knowing what the fuck had happened or what any of it was about.

>It's White Christmas but with even more emotionally charged murder
I agree with the rest, but this one is pushing it a little no? Crocodile didn't have much to do with the tech from WC

White Christmas

It is a bit of a stretch, but mainly because there was no reason to give a shit about the main character's accidental overemotional killing turning into a spree. What was meant to be the point of that one anyway? Evolving technology is bad because it means you can't get away with murder?

White Christmas, White Bear or Shut Up And Dance.

Also Hatred In The Nation is the worst episode in the series.

USS Callister is undoubtably the best and most authentic of all Black Mirror episodes.

Glad I’m not the only one. It’s so pointlessly grimdark it’s like bad fanfiction.
It’s seems to be the thing to do in the 21st century, see GoT and pretty much anything that isn’t capeshit.
I think it appeals to the lowest common denominator: the people that are genuinely sad if sad music starts playing, who clap as applause signs, who laugh at laugh tracks.
Look at the Twilight Zone. “Don’t you realize? This is the other place.” Or the German submarine episode. They’re both well told stories that have impact because of that.
Fictional deaths have no weight without backing. Real life deaths only matter because it has true meaning (relatively).
If I write
>and so anonymous gassed 6 million Jews
no one cares. But if you put enough camera angles in, brains shut down and suddenly 90IQ morons are hailing it.

>What was meant to be the point of that one anyway? Evolving technology is bad because it means you can't get away with murder?
I think the point was that the mind reading tech turned what would have been two killings into a fucking spree and also that it meant that she had to kill a baby- who in our world would not be a viable witness.

Is there even an argument for White Christmas not being the best episode?

Why did she accept the mind reading?
Why didn’t she just let the guy send the letter?
It happened like 15 years ago now, what are they going to do?

So it's the tech's fault that she was an unhinged psychocunt?

A bald assertion isn't an argument. I've already refuted your representation based arguments. Give me something else.

>s1: patrician
>s2: plebeian
>special: soyboy
>s3: normie
>s4: brainlet

It would have been if any of it made sense:
>DNA can somehow replicate people with their memories intact exactly how they were when they were replicated
>getting rid of the DNA in the fridge somehow means that it is gone forever even though it was uploaded to a computer
>genius coder man had to physically chase the sim people in a ship instead of just using mod powers or some shit
>going through an "update portal" somehow allowed the sim crew to access the online portion of the game
>genius coder man didn't put in a failsafe in case his rogue universe was detected in order to exit the game
>genius coder man didn't think to just exit the game and turning the computer off when they were trying to escape

It was written by someone who is literally bronze 5, I bet on it.

>It happened like 15 years ago now
She could still get done for being a witness to a killing and not reporting it. Come on now, this is easy stuff.
No, but it gave the psychocunt a good reason to go on a killing spree.

>tfw this is my exact top 3 in my exact order
The timelines are merging, you must be me from the future

Why do so many people like Entire History of You

It's an episode that completely wastes the scifi tech to tell some shitty cheating story, the guy acted like an absolute autist (there's getting mad at your girl cheating on you, then there's what the guy did and how he behaved), and there was a bunch of stupid shit like the black guy who HAD to be there and the random minority girl without a chip
>you wouldn't understand the episode, underage, you've never been cheated on
I have and I simply kicked the bitch out because I'm not a beta who uses women as emotional crutches. Absolutey embarassing tee bee aitch

More like you miss the entire point of the show. It’s (generally) about technology bringing out the worst in human behaviour. They’re just stories, chill out.

I like white bear, had me really confused at first and satisfyingly explained everything

What is everyones view on metal head?

I thought it was the best of this season

Off the top of my head, the statute of limitations is like half a decade for obstruction of justice, which would only be applicable if she was actually questioned. Just being a witness is not criminal, she didn’t have to say shit unless directly questioned by an officer.

Yeah and the same song is sung throughout both episodes

Monkey needs a hug segment was pretty fucking good. Admit it Sup Forums that was horrifying kino.

Imagine being stuck inside the head of a melanin production plant

>wah I want episodes about basic sci-fi themes anyone can come up with instead of unique creative ideas unexplored anywhere else

>black mirror
>unique
>creative
OH NO NO NO
>original
AHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Honest opinion:
1) I liked how contemporary it was set and how realistic it was; i.e. that stuff is happening today
2) it was acted well and unfolded in a well-paced way
3) the “protagonist” is in a somewhat ambiguous spot at the end. He is probably being arrested for the bank robbery, but he was definitely looking at pizza. The problem is, we don’t get his age. We know he can’t drive, so he’s probably under 18, but we can’t be sure because maybe he just didn’t pass or take his driver’s test. He also won’t tell the age of the people, and that could be because they were drastically younger, or maybe he’s a 16 y/o looking at a 15 y/o, we just can’t be sure. Whatever it is is clearly illegal, but compared to the guy he has to fight, it could be slightly more forgiveable, albeit ruinous.
4) the bank robbery was kino

Hmm, I don't know much about the law. Here in the UK I'm pretty sure she'd be done for not reporting the guy who ran the cyclist over

Take every episode and point the rest of us to stories they ripped off. You need over 90% to have a point or....fuck off

>its an interracial couple episode

I just watched San Junipero and am about to start the next one.
San was amazing and apart of my top picks.

If this show wasn't about advanced technology, I wonder how the episode would have gone.
