What's the opposite of kino?

What's the opposite of kino?

Shit.

Why do people call this movie kino, when it's shit?

opposite of masterpiece is also a masterpiece. Kino is something beyond good so its a masterpiece. So opposite would be something so bad that its unique like a masterpiece shit.

Kino.

onik

So, The Room is kino.

The Killing of a Sacred Deer was just hot garbage.

Because it's noticeably different from "mainstream" filmmaking. Plebs and beginners mistake uniqueness for automatic quality.

this thread makes me happy. i'm glad Sup Forums has finally realised this movie is a pile of absolute shit.

What were they trying to do, with the delivery of lines? What was that?

Yorgos is literally a fucking hack. i've only seen Lobster and Dogtooth but both were horrendous trash. i'm a kino expert so i know these types of things, Yorgos needs to be put in front of a firing squad

>i'm a kino expert so i know these types of things

I'll allow this statement, since you agree with my position.

Seriously, though, the script /could/ have worked, but the way it was acted and directed... fuck sake.

Since kino is greek and means moving, the opposite is akinisia or αkινησία

In a very unorthodox way, yes, The Room is kino. It's certainly entertaining.

big if true

autism. have you watched the lobster?

I don't know if I'm going to go as far as the critics and rave about The Disaster Artist, but I will say that seeing Franco's portrayal of Tommy's feelings made me change my perspective of the film. I may still laugh, when I watch The Room, but I may not laugh out of malice or arrogance next time.

I haven't. I mean, I watched The A-Word and loved that, but it was actually about a child with autism. This movie was like the entire fucking cast was afflicted.

Or was that what he was going for?

Sometimes I'm not sure of Sup Forums's true opinion of film. Like, maybe TLJ was actually good and Sup Forums is just messin' around.

But TKoaSD is fucking horrible.

It is what he was going for, it's his "style" and all of his films so far have this kind of dialogue. Apparently it's supposed to be funny, Yorgos always refers to his films as dark comedies.

But it doesn't work for me, either. It's not weird enough to make me laugh, I just find it off-putting and distracting. The only film of his I liked was "Dogtooth," because in context, the bizarre dialogue seemed like a fitting character trait instead of a director's trademark. I have a feeling it wouldn't hold up well if I re-watched it now, I've found him less and less interesting with each new film he makes.

It's almost like Sup Forums is 50% film fans and 50% troll.

I don't know. Sometimes a director, who is held up as a genius, just doesn't gel with me and I never know if I'm wrong, or if the director really is terrible.

Like with von Trier. Wasn't a huge fan of Antichrist, but I could understand what he was going for. Nymphomaniac was terrible. But Melancholia, I could see the genius everyone else was talking about.

If the rest of Yorgos's stuff is like TKoaSD, I'll save myself the trouble and not bother.

Also...

>Yorgos always refers to his films as dark comedies

Where the FUCK was the comedy?! I mean, I hated the scene from In Bruges, when Colin killed the kid, but at least I could kinda understand the humor within the film, but this was nothing but tragedy.

you seem like a fucking moron
i mean the film wasn't great yes, but the reasons you are listing sounds as if it were 2deep4u

>it's fucking terrible because I didn't like how they talked

it's not supposed to be a 'haha' comedy you retard. the off beat delivery of lines is just supposed to highlight the absurdity of the situation going on. Like when Raffey asked the brother for his mp3 player when he was dead, you didn't find that humorous given the circumstances?

onik

>watch the three worst von tier flicks
>I DON'T GET THE HYPE DUDES

lmao

exactly
some people like the movie because of the uniqueness of the delivery of the lines
some people dislike the movie because of that same reason
but the awkward delivery is just used to emphasise key parts of the movie, which is what it makes it good

Call me a brainlet but the room had some incredible mind fuck scenes.

That's my favorite movie of the year.

Buch.

wrong director retard

your and idiot

But the Lobster was good

Are you fucking stupid, dumbass? Yorgos directed TKoaSD. The reference to In Bruges, was for comparison. Learn reading comprehension, you fucking idiot.

>worst three
no way. Nympho I'll give you, but Melancholia is one of his best and Antichrist is strong too. I can only assume you haven't a lot of his films

It's like he's trying to be Aronofsky, but he doesn't have any talent.

You are honestly retarded if you didn't understand what he was saying

Even if you didn't like it, at least admit it that the third act is gorgeous.

I really didn't understand the hype of the Lobster, and from what I hear this shits just more of the same. People talking in monotones while horrible things happen. Its an ironic contrast, get it?

I mean, even if you ignore all this "pretentiouness" of his, you still get a well shot thriller with kubrick's shining vibes.

I find it great, guys, but I understand why someone would not.
And I need to rewatch it, sometime.

antichrist sure
melancholia is nowhere near as good as the idiots or breaking the waves
i assume if u think those r his best 3 (and coincidentally his most popular) then you haven't seen many of his films

I will admit I would have like to see the Kidman handjob.

That's Eyes Wide Shut.

My pick for Best Picture is "The Florida Project," so don't as me.

Man, I haven't seen that in ages. Honestly, during TKoaSD, I kept trying to imagine being Keith Urban and not watching my wife jerk off a fat guy.

>I can only assume you haven't a lot of his films

what? none of those movies come close to Breaking The Waves, Dogville, Dancer in The Dark, The Idiots, or Europa. they're easily his most lacking efforts

personally I don't think the problem is the concept but the script. It should be cut short or be made something else out of, the film seems strangely sterile. It doesn't go anywhere for half of it and has some scenes that don't seem to add anything story-wise. Maybe I didn't get the right tone of the film

>It doesn't go anywhere for half of it
what does this even mean? the first half of the movie is setting up the plot and establishing the characters and their motives. what do you mean it didn't 'go anywhere'? do you even know how plot structure works?

Why wouldn't he just kill his wife? She was a fucking bitch. A man would do anything to save his children, especially if all he had to do was make the simple call of killing his wife.

you sound like Jeremy Jahns
this isn't even a remotely inaccessible film

Cause the kid wouldn't cut his hair.

the bigger question is why didn't he kill his roastie daughter?

Marvel

ITT Brainlet plebs

Because he'd probably have hard time finding another thott willing to fullfill his degenerate fetishes

I thought The Killing of a Sacred Deer was the absolute worst film of the year, that was so highly critically acclaimed.

And then I watched Mother.

Last Jedi is at 90 percent my guy

I meant Oscar contenders, but I see your point, friendo.

mother! isn't 'critically acclaimed'
