Honestly TLJ isn't as bad as many people are making out to be; there are plenty of amazing scenes, good action and Luke's part in the story was genuinely enjoyable and interesting. The scene with Leia wasn't too terrible either. Why is it so hard to believe she can live in space for a bit when Legends has people tearing wormholes in reality and literal space magic?

Fuck off Rian

It was

Not even about believabilty it just looked bad. That is the problem user it looks laughably bad.

That said no the movie is not the disaster Sup Forums says it is but this shit was still dumb.

What's after bargaining again?

Fuck off nigger, the Ewok movies are honestly better and they are dogshit made film

Fuck you.

>there are plenty of amazing scenes

I agree. Remember when Holdo used the hyperspace ram, destroying not only the First Order's fleet, but also entire logic by which warfare is conducted in the Star Wars universe? I was pretty amazed that the writers would do that.

That's what I thought till I saw it. The last time I was this disappointed was after seeing the hobbit.

Honestly, if somehow taken into a vacuum and analyzed just as itself, it’s a pretty good movie. The only problem is that it’s totally inconsistent with the whole series that came before it.

>generic buzzwords used in every shill post

yawn

>promote your movie as diverse
>put aliens in a background, not really interacting with them
C'mon, what's sense of space opera with established alien races coexisting if you won't even use them?
Even stupid casino could have alien guards, but they put human again.
Admiral Holdo could be an alien as well. Token Asian girl too. OT cast had 3 human, 2 droids and an alien. New cast is all human, 1 droid and that's all. Even Chewie has been reduced to Porg companion. In TFA he had bigger role, protecting Han and shooting Kylo.

I'm not sure how you could have thought a film about everyone dying in a slow speed chase while taking breaks to lecture you about animal rights was by any means good

It wasn't that bad, but Carrie Fischer's death means that the next movie will be irredeemable dogshit. The only thing really interesting about the sequels is Kylo's arc, which will suffer from Leia's absence. They set up some interesting dramatic irony that will never pay off now: Kylo thinks Leia is dead and his past can finally be buried. Seeing her alive in IX would put a lot of stress on a mind that's already not up to code, and could lead to a lot of interesting directions for his character.

I don't know what the fuck they can do with him now other than making him the official big bad or giving him some cheesy redemption. Disney should just give up, but we will inevitably get a new star wars movie every fucking year until we die

Just because Lucas didn't think of it in his infinite wisdom doesn't mean it's bad. Try again brainlet.

>not taking my time to explain in vast detail why I like this movie
Make an actual reply or go shit your diaper some more.

I actually agree with this one. I honestly really hate how the First Order, and even the Mandalorians for that matter, have been reduced to exclusively white in the nu-canon.

>Just because Lucas didn't think of it

What in the fuck does that have to do with the fact that the hyperspace ram is the worst idea in any of the movies?

there will never be an acceptance phase when billions of dollars are on the line. Only doubling down

How is it a terrible idea? Flying a ship 3km long into something else that fast is bound to ruin someone's day. Do you have any actual reasoning behind anything you think or are you just some bandwagon cuck who thinks everything is bad because you hear it in your echo-chamber? Let me guess, you also think an x-wing would also do the same amount of damage.

I don't get it either. Have I just seen a different movie than anyone else? It's much closer to the best of the series than to the worst.

>How is it a terrible idea?

You seriously need me to explain this? Ok, so the resistance ship was 3km long - compare that to the amount of damage it did to both Snoke's flagship and all the other Star Destroyers (also 3km long) behind it. It did something like 10 times it's own mass in damage to an entire other fleet worth of starships, and it was done as an off the cuff, sheer desperation tactic. Imagine if someone with this capability was actually TRYING to kill people. Hyperspace ramming is the ultimate weapon, and there's no reason not to use it.

Stick a hyperspace drive in a missile and suddenly you have a weapon capable of doing horrendous damage in a tiny package. Imagine the destruction all those bombers did to the First Order dreadnought in the opening scene of TLJ - only now it's being done by a group of Y-wings that don't need a fighter escort.

The point is that it's not a terrible idea. So why would anyone in the resistance, a group with the combined military and tactical knowledge of a turnip, be the ones to come up with it first in a weaponized form?

Why haven't ships been built just to do that if all it takes is one cruiser vs another ship literally a hundred times it's size? That would have worked on the Deathstar, on the Super Star Destroyer etc.

It's a poorly contrived deus ex machina that sounds good in theory, but would have unraveled had anyone with brains thought about its place in the over all context. The hack painted himself into a corner, wanted the plot device err Holdo to go out in a blaze of glory and couldn't think of anything better because he's about as creative and intelligent as a brain dead monkey spouting liberal memes.

You literally fell into the trap I set for you there. Just because a 3km long ship of an unknown diameter was able to do that much damage doesn't mean a missile with a hyper drive can, or an y-wing, or a x-wing. Are you literally retarded?

>objects moving at a sufficient velocity don't do damage proportional to their mass

Ok bud.

Why was it a good movie and what were some good scenes?

And if that's the damage a 3km ship does I'm sure an y-wing would do the exact same. Even if an y-wing could take down the fuckin' Death Star with one do you honestly believe the good guys are willing to use Kamikaze tactics?

Eh, the Resistance being the first to come up with it isn't the stupidest thing in Star Wars. Kamino had the same level of cloning tech for god knows how long and the Sith were the first to think of using it for an army. Any rich chucklefuck could have done the same. I don't feel it's that out there considering.

Umm no. It was literally against the law. The Sith had to disguise themselves as the Government, create an entire false army, and then trick the Government into protecting itself with clones. That's a bit more involved than plotting a course and hitting the hyperspace button.

With hyperspeed, assuming faster than light, mass doesn't matter. A grain of sand is able to do insane damage.

>The scene with Leia wasn't too terrible either.
Yes it was

>Legends has people tearing wormholes in reality and literal space magic
the nu-canon getting rid of some of the more retarded stuff is supposed to be a selling point, not something you can point to when Disney cocks it up hilariously

>the sith were the only people ever to ever be in the position to be able to pull that off no one else in the history of the republic ever
I literally only mentioned that anyone could have paid them enough to do it. If real life people will ignore laws for money why wouldn't fake people?

Droids exist which negates the need for a pilot (making holdos 'sacrifice' doubly retarded)

Even if a starfighter-sized object going at hyperspeed couldn't obliterate an entire star destroyer, it could easily be aimed at the bridge, crippling any given vessel

I have never seen anyone ever complain about the Emperor's stupid force powers. Also space magic is still in canon even; watch the Clone Wars cartoon.

Dark Empire is ridiculed constantly

That's again not the point.Hyperspace ramming is easy, pathetically easy. If Vice Admiral Plot device can use it, then anyone could. It literally makes any fight where Hyperspace ramming is not used, a completely stupid thing to do. Why didn't a single pilot stay behind to hyperspace ram someone on Salt-Hoth? Are they now designing specific weapons for hyperspace ramming? If not they are idiots, because it literally took out an entire fleet. Oh, and the real reason it wasn't used is because there are countermeasures for it that every Star Destroyer has. Gravity wells and shields, but you know...those are supposed to protect bridges and hangars too. Apparently shields in new SW movies only protect the ass of a cruiser when it's moving slowly.

Then why bring it up to begin with?

>implying someone like Poe wouldn't be a massive cuck about BB-8 having to kermit most honorable sudoku

>implying poe and bb8 would have ever developed a relationship in the first place if droids like bb8 were used for star seppuku

Tell that to Kanjiklub

>implying that they didn't just figure it out

...

That was a cool scene. Nobody cares about science in Star Wars.

Yeah I agree, it was totally epic and badass!

>literally nothing about it was cool in any way
Uhhh, okay.

Yes it was so cool

>story team

Are you serious?

Im mostly confused because it seems to contradict a major plot point in TFA. In TFA, they use lightspeed to get past the forcefield around the starkiller base, by coming out of lightspeed right after it
But now in TLJ, when they enter light speed, they slam into things.
Are these not mutually exclusive outcomes?

It felt like a prequel movie. If we wanted that shit, they could have just kept Lucas.

It's objectively a 5/10 but it's a fucking awful Star Wars movie. It's the first time I have felt nothing when watching Star Wars, I know TFA wasn't the best but at least I felt something when watching it. This was just souless
