Is losing/gaining weight good acting?
Is losing/gaining weight good acting?
nope
It's literally meme acting
new WW looks rad!
Yes, I'm a fat fuck and I can't "act" to lose weight
yeah its acting like a faggot
dedication to a role is to be commended. It's neither good nor bad, it's just professional.
Only if the film is good
>In order to achieve maximum authenticity, actors were fed very little, and were not permitted to tend to matters of simple hygiene such as brushing their teeth and cutting their nails. As a precaution against serious deterioration of the actors' health, a number of nurses were always on call on the set. Eiji Funakoshi was never specifically told not to eat. He willingly starved himself to help get him into character. The rest of the cast and crew were unaware of this until he collapsed on-set. Production was shut down for two weeks.
No but pic is bad example because he also happens to be one of the greatest actors of all time. Dude was Oscar worthy even as a kid in Russian and European cinema.
name one other person who even comes close to bale's and no a chick wearing no makeup and gaining 10 pounds is not the same
You don't know what acting is if you think that losing or gaining weight is acting.
...
No but it makes for a higher quality of immersion, if a character is supposed to be obese but the actor is ripped and makes no effort to get fat and all other characters refer to this character as far immersion is gone.
The whole skininess adds to the characters decline in health and sanity.

it's right there
I'm going to guess no one here has seen Raging Bull, a very famous well known movie.
>troll
Piss off pleb.
go away Christian
If so, my fat ass would have won five oscars by now.
Thanks user, I'm already trying but I'm dealing with depression as well, which makes it difficult. I pray I'm gonna make up though! Trying to always stay positive even if I can't sometimes.
In the case of the Machinist, I thought it helped contribute to the kind of uneasy atmosphere the movie was going for
All it shows is dedication to a role, which when paired with good acting is a great combination. On it's own it's a worthless measurement.
good on you. just don't let /fit/ meme you into doing SS + GOMAD or something else retarded
Fass in Hunger
Movie was alright but I don't think he needed to lose the weight for the role. It adds nothing. They could have made him lose maybe 20 pounds if they cared so much.
