>good character submits to evil and tells themselves it's all part of the plan
>they then corrupt other good guys
one of my favorite fetishes
The EU shat on Luke's character far more than the Sequels have.
Wrong
Dark Empire did, also shit on Anakin's sacrifice but the reception was so poor it basically was ignored for the rest of the EU's history
Are the Thrawn Trilogy comics any good? They have a cult following who claim they're better than the books.
You are all fucking morons, dark empire is the best post rotj eu piece
Luke did what hehad to do to save therepublic, he was curious about why his father joined the ds, it doesnt undermine anything, he knew new powers with palpatine, destroyed his clones and got thecodes to destroy the world devastators wich wouldve conquered all the planets
Personally I find they cut too much of the nuance out.
For example, the tractor beam incidents in the books are a lot more simplified, and don't make it as clear that one dies for passing the buck, while the other gets promoted for manning up, taking responsibility and trying to think on the fly
Nice try disney fat but no one buys your shit
In dark empire we see luke being brave enough to enter the dark side to destroy it
Sounds godawful desu
>"That boy was our last hope."
>"No. There is another."
5 minutes earlier
>"Luke don't go after Han and Leia, our second last hope"
Sheev resurrecting himself was complete garbage and DID undermine Anakin sacrificing himself to destroy his master.
And then there was that later shit where Sheev's ghost kept trying to possess a babby and some fat floating midget takes him into his body and gets shot by Han
Only thrawn fags didnt like it
And enough of saying that it undermined vader, it didnt.
Vader redeemed himself in rotj, thats the point, not that it defeated the emperor forever
I give TLJ an 8/10. Would have been 10/10 if Luke was the main villain of the movie.
>tfw Sheev could have been a podracer instead of the Emperor
...
>And then there was that later shit where 's ghost kept trying to possess a babby and some fat floating midget takes him into his body
sounds familiar
Great argument
Sheev didnt resurrect, he just didnt die cause his soul entered another clone body
How is that bad? Living forever is the ultimate power, not throwing light bolts, thats the main objective of the sith
You have clones, hou have ghosts, how is that weird?
And vader didnt sacriface himself to kill the emperor, he did it to save his son
And you got that last part wrong, he wants to enter the baby, he lets han shoots him to die and the that jedi gets in the middle so he enters him instead the baby, then that jedi overpowers his soul as no one is strong enough to posess a jedi
The worst part about the image isn't that it's stupid, it's that it misspells "absolutely".
He didn't even do anything masculine with his jaded worldview. He's some a soyboy on a island with sloths.
user, my son. You are Jedi now. You must choose fate.
>Restart the Jedi Order, shack up with a hot redhead, and generally go on thrilling adventures with your friends. After a long life of heroics and generally being loved, you die peacefully of old age, only to haunt your grandson for fun and tease him about not being as badass as you were.
>Have entire Jedi Academy slaughtered, become a reclusive hobo getting drunk on green monster milk. Eventually a little girl shows up and beats the shit out of you with no training. You want to help but you're too much of a pussy so you just project a hologram and die from overexerting yourself like a bitch.
>but vader killed the emperor mane, he is da chosen one
Dark empire is older than phantom menace
The difference is the EU developed its fanfiction into something substantial, while Disney just expects you to blindly swallow their contrived, undeveloped spew at face level.
Reminder it's not Luke, it's Jake in Disney Soy Wars
I wasn't making an argument
Uh oh!
It seems a lot of non-canon has been posted in this thread! Kindly reminder that none of it matters as it is no longer recognised by Disney corporation and is no longer considered part of the Star Wars universe.
You can check out all the Star Wars canon (and your favorite characters!) at StarWars.com, or follow Disney on twitter @Disney or @StarWars!
Yeah, starting the jedi order again and helping the new republic sure was bad
is that book any good?
unsurprisingly Dark empire was one of George's favorite parts of the EU, he gave personal approval to palpatine's return as a clone, gave the comic book as a christmas gift to some employees
George has shit taste
>sacrifices himself to save his sister and friends
>not masculine
it's like pottery, it rhymes
EU nerds get so triggered they can't even spell their meme captions right lmao
I think it is but I dont like the premise, the fact that plageis was alive in tpm, I liked howmin dark empire the emperor was hundreds of years old and hehadalready died once before rotj
Plagueis shouldve been dead long before tpm
If you're interested in Sheev, sure. You can probably find a pdf online, but the audiobook is also on YouTube for free.
unironically laughing at disney shills who are using fanfiction written 20 years ago as some sort of defense against disney literally ruining star wars with their "diverse" cashgrab
also the EU is really bad, but it's still better than the two 3 disney movies which is really fucking sad if you think about it
...
So its canon then, oh no, disnet made it as the emperor ordered the whole empire to surrender after he died lmao
And also that you could completely pick and choose whatever you wanted to ignore.
The EU aren't canon so who cares
I actually preferred Sheev's soul transferring to a new host for someone other than Anakin to kill. Having Luke finish him undermines the "Chose one" prophecy of the PT.
Dark empire gave us byss, the bellators, the eclipses, the vwing, the ewing, nar shadda, mon calamari, ossus, the crab jediz luke losing his virginity, his full power, the galactc gun, the tie droids, the shadow tie, onderon, korriban, the viper automadon, etc
If you dont like dark empire you hate star wars
Its a fucking shame that the style didnt resonate and we couldnt fight those battles in battlefront
Instead people loved the superultra intelligent blue doctor with his force iguanas and luuke
Dark empire came before, fuck that retarded prophecy and the balance shit
It's amazing when read as continuity porn (meaning you know all the comics and books it connects to and references), great when you've at least read the relevant episode I books it briefly goes over towards the end and probably still good to great as a standalone book.
some of the main references are
Jedi Council: Acts of War
some of the Republic comic plotlines (can't remember which, but they involve assasination)
the early Darth Maul comics
Clock of Deception
Darth Maul Saboteur (short story and prequel to cloak of deception)
Darth Maul Shadow Hunter
Darth Maul: Lockdown
some other darth maul tidbits about his training and short stories covered elsewhere
it's a crazy primer for The Phantom Menace, that's for sure.
>Luke rebuilds the Republic and the Jedi
>only stopped by a massive horde of extremely vicious extragalactic muslims
Found this interview with the author of dark empire from 2016. Sort of interesting, talks a little bit about how he clashed with Zahn, George's input and ofcourse, what he thinks of TFA/the new canon

>I'll try starting my praxium inside ancient Sith Temples, that's a good trick!
I actually really like this trilogy
> Tim hated the idea of Emperor coming back (and probably wasn't aware that George Lucas had proposed the idea to us).
this is all I needed to know
thanks lucas fuck zhan and fuck disney
i'll give it a go, thanks
>I'll try spinning, that's a good trick
>*destroys Cathedral of Winds*
I think he's shilling though because it was a controversial subject then and still is today, from the wookiepedia article on dark empire
>The original idea for Dark Empire revolved around the Empire using an impostor in Darth Vader's armor (or a replica of it) to use as a continuing symbol of fear to help force far-flung worlds into obedience. George Lucas personally shot down this concept, and instead directed them to bring back the Emperor through cloning. It is unclear whether Lucas suggested the concept himself or merely approved it when pitched; Veitch has made conflicting comments regarding this.
is this loss?
I just think it's a brilliant idea for sheev to have all this back up plans, he was above death, we see obiwan and yoda being ghosts so why is it hard to get that the emperor could also be a ghost that could enter diferent bodies, and that's a fundamental difference between them, the sith want to live forever while the jedi want to join with the force
That outfit is fresh as fuck though
and exactly why does vader deseve to be the one that killed sheev? it was all his damn fault
No it doesn't. It was a spiritual victory. Sheeven coming back doesn't make Vader any less redeemed.
World Devastators>>>>>>>>>>>Starkiller Base
exactly, vader redeemed himself and the whole empire went to shit after the emperor "died" with all the gobernors fighting each other, and even when the emperor came back he couldn't rule as he used to cause everybody knew he was a maniac and no longer had the superweapons to control the people
if the emperor wouldn't have supressed the senate puting all his hopes on the death star fear factor, the empire would've survived
...
kek, is this one new? I don't remember it from back in the day
tfw no villain whose sole purpose is to erase the connection between living things and the force and ending the cyclitic violence of jedi and sith going to war with eachother and fucking up the galaxy each time
bullshit that ruined Vader's sacrifice
How much harder can OP blatantly samefag? Let's watch
I'll just leave this gif here
did vader turn into a sith in dark empire???
>I'm gonna make a nice wine
I understood that reference.. Hehe.. nothin personnel noobs
To my knowledge, there are four.
...
...
What? GL literally said that he didn't like some of EU ideas like Palpatine returning and pretty much ignore it.
Luke did, and the Emperor is alive. That shits one the end of ROTJ
and people say George didn't care about the EU huh? disney shills btfo
no it really doesn't, luke did it to save the republic and it worked, he destroyed the emperor clones and the devastators, it was temporary
I mean does ESB undermine the ending of anh cause vader is still alive?
Vader wasn't shown to die in ANH. All the other TIE fighters get blown up. They certainly left Vader's fate in that vague for possible sequels whereas the Emperor fell down a massive shaft and exploded.
>massive shaft and exploded.
well obiwan also got killed and yet returned in esb, does this makes his death meaningless?
he became one with the force while sidious has to get into another body to live forever, it's a great dichtonomy
The purpose of Obi-Wan dying was to show the power that is possible only by becoming one with the force. And he speaks to Luke during the trench run so he has a post death presence before ESB anyways.
>Beheads the extragalactic Space Caliph
>The purpose of Obi-Wan dying was to show the power that is possible only by becoming one with the force
wich is what the sith can't do because of the dark side, thus the clones
