Why did this movie make so much money even though it's not that good?

it's actually very good.
It’s good because it relies on the most basic form of comedy to win over the hearts of the audience. It doesn’t need poo poo pee pee humor. Just good ol’ fashion awkward moments and funny characters. For example kip falling in love with a black woman he met online. He never says something like “i can’t wait to fuck her fatass!” It’s very innocent and that’s why it’s easy for all age groups to enjoy. Also your mom goes to college
Americans have no taste, didn't get a single laugh out of me.
O B S E S S E D
As a former varsity athlete I hated this film because it set unreal expectations on how far I should be able to throw a football.
I don't believe this was released on VHS so how did you watch it?
Uncle Rico gave me too many feels.
>it's not that good
*blocks your path*
I never understood the appeal of this movie either, and found the "quirky" characters to be annoying rather than funny
jumping this bike with no survivors
It's literally "Meme: The Movie". Millenials ate that shit up.
Its very likely you're a millenial too
First movie I watched when I came to the states, fucking awesome
Reminder
does anyone know what the budget for space cop was.
The world was going through it's indie emo phase at that time
mtv had a piece of the film so they gave it free ads on their network
Why did james include a black male/white female romantic subplot in his film? Was that his wife's influence?
Heder killed that dance scene
youtube.com
Because Mormons are the real Jews
-It's a good movie
-it came during a period of time when the audience wanted this kind of comedies, now there's an over exposition of these kind of movies and even tv shows
I was in middle school when it came out and every annoying kid on the world wouldn't stop quoting it. That's why many people dislike it. It's grown on me a lot over the years and is now one of my favorite comedies.
Seems to be the general consensus. Didnt she call her husbands life work a "caucasian sausage fest?"
his wife forced him to do it
>when I came to the states
you have to go back
This movie is the ultimate patrician filter. If you don't get it you're part of the unwashed masses. Sad!

So did he really have a chance of making it back in '83 or was he full of shit?
>that hairline
I wouldn't have really minded it, but it came pretty much out of nowhere
It doesn't matter. That's the point. He's wasting his life chasing for a dream that will never happen. I mean, the guy is in his late 30s it seems making tapes and sending it to the NFL. He's a literal has been.
...
this jesus christ, no one cares if it effected random faggot from albania. seriously.
Apparently there wasn't even music because they didn't know what they would have the rights to.
They just filmed Heder doing various dance moves and then edited together.
It's almost the opposite these days.
>ree refugees
>reeeeeee Putin
>He's wasting his life chasing for a dream that will never happen.
I feel like this all the time. Then sometimes I think I have no idea what I even want.
It's a great movie. It's one where the nerd wins without it being hollywood fantasy type win.
no it really isn't, see you're on Sup Forums and I'm not on faggotstanforums.net
American news whined non-stop about Putin "rigging the elections"
...
>92826597
That's only butt blasted Dems. Normal people don't care.
lanky people have unfair advantage when it comes to dancing
It's a surprisingly good film.
Was getting elected part of your plan?
No idea.
This.
Holy shit that's hilarious.
How do you give someone a (You) without thinking about them, sweetiepie? :)
>see anti-american post
>post that image
easy
Sup Forums is a japanese site.
Has all the charm of Wes Anderson and has none of the Wes Anderson things that make me want to vomit
>ywn have a friend that would do this for you
BOW TO YOUR SENSEI
no it's a website made by an american that copied a style of website that's popular in japan, it's not "a japanese site"
>>Budget: 400,000 USD
>>Box Office: 46.1 million USD
>thats like a dollar an hour
wanna watch me throw a football over them mountains?
Jesus Christ, this is fucking Sup Forums, you should at least be able to understand television at more than a surface level
You missed the point of that scene entirely. If you're taking a pro-America stance, the flags need to be switched, otherwise America is the one getting blown the fuck out. I expect this shit on Sup Forums, but not here.
Movie is great but the wedding scene they added to releases later was complete shit
>it's not that good
Owned by a jap.
>Liverpool is an American soccer team since it is owned by Americans
>Last off, my students will learn about self respect. You think anybody thinks I'm a failure because I go home to Starla at night? Forget about it!
Truly ahead of its time
>I never understood
thats a good way to put it
It's got a real emotional depth to it and also some random lines for the normies to quote. Everybody wins. It's a good movie.
Because Hollywood spews so much garbage that Napoleon Dynamite is relatively good.
>open door
>see this
This love story gives me a feeling that I still dream about to this day
IF COACH WOULD HAVE PUT ME IN, I COULD HAVE TAKEN US TO STATE... YEAHHH.
>A good movie is defined by its budget
It was babby's first absurdism, and set the stage for a lot of the Sup Forums shows that millenials later had.
Starla was HIGH TEST
Didn't MTV really fuck Napoleon over though? IIRC he only got a couple of thousand dollars.
They paid him $1000 but after the success of the film they renegotiated his contract
>tfw wore a "vote for pedro" shirt in middle school
the film itself is the embodiment of the mid-00's
even more so than Superbad
I was only like 8 when this came out but after this movie I remember that calling people retarded quickly became the most popular insult. Maybe it was just that i was young
>it's not that good?
Yes this movie definitely invented calling people retarded as an insult, nobody ever used the word "retard" as insult before 2005. Fucking retard.
The PC term is "mongoloid", you bigot.
>he actually thinks he was bothered by it at the end of the day
Pleb level reading
~5000
Half of Napoleon Dynamite's budget went to the post credits sequence
>it's not that good?
What's it like living life as a mental midget?
This and Nacho Libre are comfy kino
>Also your mom goes to college
you had to do it, didn't you Jimmy
Because it was good. Really good. With the exception of Superbad, I can't think of a funnier movie from the 21st century.
>not liking based Kips love song about technology and LaFawnda
>says the millennial
This movie feels like a fucking fever dream. Any other films with this sort of quality?
It's blandness is it's charm, it encapsulates Idaho perfectly.
>like American movie
KINO! KINO!
>dislike American movies
le stupid amerimutts amirightxD
Holy shit, I never noticed the hand guns on the wall before, kek.
I SHALL RESPECT REX
>This movie feels like a fucking fever dream
I love your work on HDTGM
>people are actually nostalgic for this jokeless shit that leans on the crutch of "awkward"
millennials everyone
This. I can't watch this movie because it unironically triggers this deep, painful boredom that I felt growing up there.
>Absolute...bonkers.
Show used to be fun, now I haven't listened to it in two years because ads everywhere, too many embarrassing live shows, and they're now in the no-man's land of films where they're just doing obscurely bad shit so they don't have to offend anyone.
Did they ever give a statement as to why they deleted the Alvin and the Chipmunks episode then pretended like it didn't exist?
Instagrambabbys everyone
Napoleon Dynamite is comfy as fuck.
was she fat?
>I'm ready for my closeup, mr Max
>awkward, but great humor
>really captures the feeling of small town life where nothing happens
>characters everyone can relate to
Its charm is in how simple it is. The characters are all plain, nobody is a super model, the humor isnt toilet humor nor is it 2deep4u, and then beats you over the head with a joke. Its something funny, you see it, and it moves on without drawing attention to it ever again. It doesnt use pope culture references so its always timeless, nothing political about it so it doesnt piss anyone off and we've all known an uncle rico in our llives
no, she was drinking 1%
shes also the definition of curvy
