TOS is a great show, but it is noticeably different than other series. The episodes don't really connect to each other, and some are clearly from sci-fi that has been altered to fit the show rather than being a story written specifically for it.

Do not watch STD, seriously just save yourself the time and don't do it. It's written poorly, none of the characters are interesting, it shows a barebones understanding of the Trek universe and those involved with production have shown a general disdain for fans and previous series installments alike. There are massive plot holes everywhere too.
