Movies.

The male gaze.

Because pornography is widely available now thanks to the internet, so comic book companies don't have to dress their woman up like strippers and whores anymore.

Not enough leg protection

...

This

If boys aren't allowed them anymore then neither are girls

Robin's got nice legs.

They do if they want people to buy their shit.

1) "Unrealistic"
2) "Sexist"

It's a little bit of both.

Everyone has to have armor and tacticool costumes now.

Im down with the thiccness, are you?

Hold on brother there is still hope...

Monica would never wear something like that

Supergirl in a leotard is fine

Supergirl with a weird crotch plate and stupid boots that have a weird gap in them on the knee is fucking stupid

who died and made you boss?

>you can't have sex appeal without being porn
Then why does literally every other medium get to do this?

They haven't been targeted by SJW infiltrators yet.

stop masturbating to comics and read them for the content

But the content is shit.

So... smooooooth...

But where's the bulge?

I gotta agree, the crotchplate is kind of weird, though the costume might seem kind of bland without something ro break up the blue. I almost want to suggest the 2b solution but that might look weird on a supergirl.

Because most other mediums don't take it as far as comics and then try to pass it off like it's is a normal thing.
This right here was made for one thing only, to draw in pubescent boys who didn't have a steady stream of internet pornography to keep them occupied. You can complain about the evil woman taking always your precious T&A all you want, but cape comics as a whole are much better for finally getting out of their "every girl is a hooker" phase.

Full body suits are nice too. It's still skintight.

>posting the most extreme 90s dark n' edgy design as an example of titillation for teens.

You must hate the entire athletics industry. Gymnasts, swimmers, track and field...

>though the costume might seem kind of bland without something ro break up the blue

It would've been easy as fuck to make the lower half of the leotard red without giving it that bizarre fucking cutout shape.

Oh you. You and your bullshit.

As long as their faces are covered, sure.

>using nigger shit as an example

youtube.com/watch?v=My2FRPA3Gf8

Gen-13 is hardly edgy but it's built on fanservice.

They're haram

popular nigger shit

Glad we agree.

Leotards are ugly you tard. Skirts are way better

...

Leotards are more for dancers, they're not armor. So how practical are they in a fight or battle?

about as practical as a cape or a mask or giant pauldrons. but not as practical as pirate boots or animal ears

Marvel stopped using leotards because they stopped selling tits and ass. DC tried to do the same before realizing how retarded that was. Marvel went full retard and gave their women breast reduction surgery coupled with hormone treatment to make some of them look like dudes. It gets boring to see everyone wearing full body suits or full body suits with the sleeves cut off.

Leotards are tight clothing and offer no protection like armor does. All leotards do is help cover the person up so they don't show any nudity. It's fine in comic books when the women wear them. But don't expect them to be part of the outfits in the live action adaptation.

In comic books, if the character has super strength and are nigh-invulnerable or have absolute invulnerability, then yeah, they can wear leotards, tights, bodystockings or bodysuits, or almost no clothing, or really form fitting clothing that looks painted on. But the live action adaptations of the costumes are going to need to look really different.

Also, why not put armor on the women in comic books? Armor can look cool, just like Ahmey from The Tower of Druaga, or Iria from the live action Zeiram and the Iria: Zeiram The Animation.

They're quit practical for superheroes who can create forcefields, have indestructible bodies, rely on acrobatics or fast healing. Body armor restricts movement and provides negligible protection to such characters.

Even Wondys new costume is 10x better than her leotard

Speaking of covering faces, why don't more heroes do it? Is the secret identity still no big issue? Or is it just tiring to come up with excuses for everyone's Clark Kenting?

we need more high-cut one piece with stockings, they are cute and nice. Plus wheels for maximum sexyness.

Skintight pants > thongs > bikini bottoms > ""realistic"" pants

No one would complain about that costume if it weren't on muh pure Sue

I sort of mentioned some of what you just said: Dude, medieval armor for French knights were also made to allow the person to be really maneuverable while wearing it, I remember watching a History channel program about it, probably back when I was in high school.

Anyway, I just found this article online about the myths of wearing medieval armor. Some of the myths, about women not wearing armor and armor being clunky and hard to move in, are explained as being wrong: metmuseum.org/toah/hd/aams/hd_aams.htm (Arms and Armor—Common Misconceptions and Frequently Asked Questions)

I still think there should be more armor with the costume. But then, many of the fanboys are going to complain, despite that more armor might mean more protection from injuries for the women who have to wear the costume.

Because then you don't get to see their TIIIIITS!

Just give them armor that shows their tits
But really 90% of the time tacticool redesigns are lame regardless of gender. They're all so neutered and boring. Especially in the case of female heroes.

French knights didn't free run over rooftops in Gotham or survive nuclear blasts in space. Armor also costs money to buy and maintain. It would just be an expensive decoration for a lot of the super powered freaks.

That's not even a leotard. They don't turn into tit socks.

The whole painted on costume is fast and easy, but makes even less sense that loading a character with armor. Man I wouldn't want to have to pull a wedgie out of my ass mid fight.

This fucking thread.

But Batman does use armor with his costume, don't you remember the movies. And still, armor does look cool and it's better for the live action movies. The superheroes from the Thor movies wear armor. I think I remember from watching a featurette on television from the first Thor movie that the armor they wore helps with their posture and when they get overheated in the armor, they can just pour cold water into their armor to cool them down. I remember reading from that Looper website about how the Black Widow costume was hated because it would cause hallucinations for the wearer since she would overheat in it.

Anyway, here's the article that Looper got the information from: abcnews.go.com/blogs/entertainment/2012/04/scarlett-johansson-shredded-her-avengers-costume-chris-hemsworth-wore-a-little-air-conditioning-unit-for-thor/

I don't really care that much about seeing their tits. I'm more into legs. But even if they do cover up their legs and wear pants instead, then there's alway the fight choreography to fall back on since the fighting would look pretty cool. Try watching Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit which they used to show on Toonami back in the 2000s.

Here's the wikipedia link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moribito:_Guardian_of_the_Spirit#Anime or you can watch it online: view.yahoo.com/show/moribito-guardian-of-the-spirit

Moribito doesn't have fights scenes in every episodes, but when it does, it's pretty awesome.

I forgot to add the link for Tower of Druaga: Aegis of Uruk, with Ahmey, I think you first see her in the second episode: youtube.com/watch?v=rsDW7GJh_G8&list=ELao44A9sw13I

You can also watch Tower of Druaga at CrunchyRoll: crunchyroll.com/the-tower-of-druaga-the-aegis-of-uruk-

Here's a link for the Iria: Zieram the Animation opening: youtube.com/watch?v=SBZuBUw_F68

Batman is also a billionaire who can afford million dollar suits of form fitting super lightweight armor and robot vehicles. I'm not saying heroes can't have armor. I am saying a lot of heroes have reasons not to wear it with the need to pour water over themselves to avoid overheating for heavier armor being a good example.

Even policemen wear armor for different occasions. Undercover cops sometimes forgo armor altogether in order to blend into their surroundings better.

Whoa, undercover cops... Now I'm panicking.

no idea, but i guess it'd depend on the character

like, mostly, all a leotard is is just a one piece swimsuit for a lot of heroines and villains. i like it because its simple, but again, character depends.

like, i could see it being sexy, to show of their figure and such, distracting foes and such or they could be so strong where they don't need any real leg or arm protection.

or maybe its just easy to move in and slip on.

my own OC uses a one piece suit, mostly because she ain't getting hurt anytime soon, but also because she is lazy and its easy to get on.

when she was starting out, she was just fighting petty muggers in an old swimsuit, boots and ugly gloves.

Because blah blah unrealistic blah blah blah objectifying women blah blah sexist blah blah no real body protection.

>my own OC uses a one piece suit, mostly because she ain't getting hurt anytime soon, but also because she is lazy and its easy to get on.
>when she was starting out, she was just fighting petty muggers in an old swimsuit, boots and ugly gloves.

tell me more

because it's "sexist"

tacticool bodyarmor isn't bad as long as you can still tell it's a female wearing it.

ideal physical bodies are ideal.

But Nikki and Miley and the like get bitched at by feminists for being "too lewd" all the time. Sure there's a contingent of third wave feminism that says it's "empowering", but there's still plenty of thinkpieces out there slutshaming pop stars.

The point is, it's not a strange thing for women to like walking around in skimpy costumes, regardless of what other women would think.
