Has a movie ever made you rethink your religious beliefs?
I was an atheist before watching pic related.

i have zero religious beliefs, don't believe in anything, or labels. when i die, i'm just going to die. good enough for me.
I unironically wish I believed in God. Life seems so much comfier that way.
>i [...] don't believe in anything
>i believe that when i die, i'm just going to die
>i don't believe in anything
>but i believe in...
and yet almost every religiousfag seems as terrified of death as anyone else
I don't think they really really believe it
5 grams of dried psilocybin mushrooms in total darkness. That's all you need to stop being an atheist.
Religious person here, I don't have a fear of death, I just don't want to die because it would upset my family.
Religilous made me lose my faith, it made me realize how ignorant and tribal I was being by blindly believing the words of some sand people 2000 years ago.
For fuck's sake have some dignity. If you want to go from atheist to believer at least do it after watching "The Young Pope" or "Mission" or "Adam's Apples" not the fucking "God's Not Dead". Christ.
It's bait mate
This movie is for reaffirming beliefs you already held. It's too hamfisted and ridiculous to be a worthwhile recruitment film. If this milquetoast slice of American corporate evangelism converts you, you should kill yourself immidiately.
they're mostly hypocrites
Thank god
I used to be an atheist. Then I watched Stalker.
I'm an Orthodox Christian now.
won't you just see them when they die?
>god makes planet
>puts people on planet for many thousands of years
>leaves no guidelines in some sort of holy book whatsoever
>pretty much the equivalent of owning a mansion and letting a couple dozen toddlers go crazy for a week
And you call yourself an intellectual.
Evangelicals (and Protestants more broadly I guess) can't make religious kino like Roman and Orthodox Catholics can.
Yes, but that's beside the point, the death of a family member is never easy.
I'm a Christian, personally I didn't like this movie. But I'm glad you got faith, great job!
Well there are lots of well adjusted wholesome religious people that find structure and comfort in religion. Every group is different.
Didn't that movie have Hercules in it? No wonder god isn't dead, he's too busy punching snake-people.
So instead you disregard the tested beliefs of generations and think little old you have somehow figured the world out all by yourself?
I was a devout fundamentalist Christian before I watched that illogical clusterfuck. Now I'm a born-again fedora tipper.
Maybe that's because you know you'll never see them again ever. Because there is no afterlife.
(You)
why would a faithful person sob over a dead family member if they believe so strongly that he's in heaven hanging out with jesus and moses? every doubts it deep down and thinks they're gone forever.
Because they're sad that they've gone from earth, though they'll see them again eventually, the physical loss of the person is hard.
i like ice cream
Me too
But the idea of existing forever in a conscious state terrifies me
I want that sweet oblivion when I die
Nah
Sure, but once you're close to death your instincts kick in and you understand how much you want to live.
True, but sometimes you don't have a choice
Imagine deep down you know how much of a hypocrite you are. So when you die, you get to be face to face with the guy that actually wrote the damn book. (Or divinely inspired in any case)
You would shit.
A knowledgable Christian would know that he is a hypocrite and a wretch regardless, and is saved by was Christ has for him and through him, not by what he has done or not done himself.
They're afraid because of different reasons.
