It's pretty good. I wouldn't say it was amazing, but it is better than season 1 of Next Gen Trek. I just hope Orville gets better like Next Gen and not worse like Family Guy.

I was baffled by how straight it's played. There's still contemporary pop culture references but as a whole the show feels like a genuine love letter to Star Trek. I can't wait for season two.

This year we had two fake Treks that were better than the official Trek show. Orville and Black Mirror both did Trek better than Discovery.

I don't even see it as a comedy anymore. It's 90% true Trek and 10% comedy. The true Trek parts are better than any of the last three Trek series.

The in-simulation narrative wasn't good Trek, the whole meta narrative was good Trek. Felt like classic Trek episode with an omnipotent god-like person abusing their powers.

I like that they kinda took some of the best ideas from Trek and avoided some of the mistakes. They kept the Orville small enough that they aren't in an overpowered hulk. They don't have transporters, but have met people that do.

I don't know anything about Star Truck, so I probably won't like it. Almost wish I did..

McFarlane did a decent job, but the bar has been set low by executives who never understood why people liked star trek. He's the best trek in like 20 years. For the people holding the actual UP this should be a wake up call.
