Bet she didn't wear panties.

I used to think she was ugly as a kid but now that I've had a second look, she's really cute.

Cute, enjoyable movie. Loved the songs.

Barely remember anything about the series.

how was the sequel?

>Loved the songs.

No,just no

only read the book. are any of the shows or movies worth watching?

The series was extremely well-written for what it was. Not your typical Canadian cartoon by any means. And better than the movie, I'd say.

If you're watching it as an adult, though, you have to keep in mind it was laser-focused on a kid audience. It doesn't feature the Parental Bonus type stuff we've come to expect from cartoons, or at least I couldn't think of any.
I really liked the songs too.

One of my original waifus

I can only imagine what the scrapped Hayao Miyazaki version would've been.

I thought she was the Wendy's mascot the first time I saw this as a kid.

teletoon use to have some good OC

At least we have some of the artwork for his scrapped adaptation.

This could've been really great.

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention: the animation quality in the series is MUCH better than the movie's due to the use of digital inking.

I didn't know the Wendy's mascot got her own cartoon.

impressive... i did not know that Sup Forums was even familiar with Pippy Longstocking... my view on this board just went up quite a bit

I bet she does but they are stinky and have patched up holes.

Sup Forums is familiar with everything. Not even joking.

They made an Arby's cartoon?

...

>ywn get a whacking from pippi

I would much prefer this if she weren't a topless 6 years old.
Cartoon Pippi is the best looking IMO

Love the movies.
The cartoon doesn't do much for me.

There's only one animated movie.

They're currently making a new live action movie about her author. Which I could have had a role in if my hair was more twenties-looking.

During the meeting with Astrid Lindgren, Lindgren stated that she appreciated the sentiment but didn't want to give him the rights for the movie. As a result, having made his trip all the way to Sweden and taking numerous photos of Gamla Stan (old town) of Stockholm and Visby of the island of Gotland, Miyazaki wanted to make use of them. He then created Kiki's Express Delivery, the photos were used as references for the backgrounds and still shows if take a closer look as some the signs in the background still has Swedish words written on them making the story taking place around Slussen and old town in Stockholm.

Astrid later regretted her decision when some showed her My Neighbor Totoro. The world wouldn't see a movie based on Pippi Longstocking until the death of Lindgren and the rights were sold.

But why did Nelvana get those rights in the 90s?

I didn't notice her being topless until you mentioned. I thought Sup Forums's corrupted my mind pretty thoroughly by now, but if topless little girls fail to make me think sexual thoughts, I suppose I'm still not living up to the standards of this site.

The first part is true but that about not having an animated adaptation until her death is bullshit. The animations happened when she was still alive. As to how and why they got the rights I have no idea

>Astrid Denies movie rights
>Miyazaki moves on
>Astrid later regretted her decision
get fucking recked

How fucking high is this girl's power level? Not only is she strongest but everything else she does is based on her naivety. She could fly because she had no idea what gravity was, rode a bike WITHOUT wheels because she didn't know you needed them and built an airplane from her bike because she thought it was possible

I love the old live action series, it's the only one they aired when I was little

>She could fly because she had no idea what gravity was, rode a bike WITHOUT wheels because she didn't know you needed them and built an airplane from her bike because she thought it was possible
None of this was in the cartoon. Is this from the original books?

Nostalgiafaggotry, everyone.

What? It's good

She's the reason I still get erect to crazy manic pixie girls.
"What shall I do today?"
Please be me, Pippi...

Yes. And the live action series from the 70's

There's something very odd about Lindgren adaptation and children's nudity. In 'Du är inte klock Madicken' the film opens with two girls playing in their bedroom for like a minute or two, full frontal and all.

I think there's other cases but was the first tme I ever saw a naked girl in my life so it's been burnt into my memory.

Is pippi a 40K ork?

'ERE WE GO
'ERE WE GO
'ERE WE GO

Hell, I remember the live action version from what, 40 years ago?

I didn't mean that one.

She's most probably a reality warper.

So she's One-Punch Man?

Most likely. She'd be able to entertain him quite a bit.

Still got nothing on Arale though.

...

There is soviet version.

I fucking lost it

Yeah, I remember the 1997 movie. It's on YouTube if you wanna watch it. But I also remember the 1988 movie.

Should have been Miyazaki's first film in the late 70's or early 80's.
The family who owned the character refused to sell him the movie rights because he was untested.

The Myazaki movie not being made makes me asspained. It could have been so good. Pippi is the perfect literal "strong independent girl" character, always gives people the benefit of the doubt, treats her friends nicely and doesn't take shit from anybody.

Children nudity in public was fairly normal in Scandinavian countries at the time, and it's still more acceptable in cartoons and movies than in the states and many other western countries. It was also a big thing in the 70's (going full natural and all that), which is when the series was made.

Hope you find it again.

>Vegeta, what does the scouter say about her power?
>It's over NINE THOUSAAAAAAAND!!!

There was also a Russian version of Pippi.

>back in 1999-2000
>playing Age of Empires for hours on end, while movie VHS plays in the background
>it's a naval map
All that nostalgia.

...

>Hen's Tooth Video
Hens don't have teeth!

I used to watch that show in Teletoon all the time when I was a kid.

Good times, man.
>sigh
Good times.

I swear to God, I thought this movie was an extended ad for Wendy's

Pippi is great.

I get ya. Teletoon was so amazing back then.

wendy, whitney and pippi crossover when?

She literally is supposed to be the only female example of the Nietzschian Übermensch in modern literature.

Have you seen Panda Go Panda? Because it seems pretty close. Only with more pandas.
