Well the first episode is the darkest, and it was a pilot that came out before the series was greenlit so some things are different-- most notably Tick's costume is totally different. It does a good job of showing how shitty Arthur's life was before Tick shook things up.

haha i guess so, it's all one continuous plot though, so you do need to see the pilot for the rest of the show to go together. It seems to be getting more and more absurd as time goes on and every little side joke or throw away gag turns out to actually come back and mater later, it's kinda great.
