If I was George Bailey, I would have killed myself.
>Only wish was to leave the town and explore the world >Father dies before his High School Graduation Trip >Has to take over the family business instead of going to college,so he sends his brother instead >Has to marry the woman he didn't want while his rival gets rich off of the plastic industry >Has to sacrifice his honey moon to help the town during the great depression >Has to move into the shitty abandoned house >Brother goes to war and becomes a celebrated war hero while he almost gets thrown in jail for his Uncle's mistake >Decided he just wants to die, but god stops him so he can help the selfish angel get his wings.
Literally the most depressing movie ever made. All of his hopes and dreams are taken away from him and he gets nothing for it in the end but a much needed return on all the money he loaned the people, money he will never see
>tfw you couldn't relate to the movie because you've never done anything meaningful in life
Leo Cruz
The only film where Harry Potter did nothing wrong
Nolan Gonzalez
>oh no I have a family and a beautiful wife and I manage a bank and I'm very important to everyone around me
Kayden Lopez
> No Man Is A Failure Who Has Friends
Great movie but i always get depressed at this part.
Brody Smith
What's the point of doing "meaningful" things if you end up as a depressed wreck that has never known satisfaction
Ethan Barnes
the message of the movie was supposed to be that one life touches many others and that having friends is more important than money. Some feminist cunt on CNN had the ovaries to call the movie sexist because it showed george balieys future wife staying single when he did not exist. So when Hollywood does the re-boot they will show her being happy with her black boyfriend and brown kids and hopefully george will kill himself.
Joseph Bennett
future retards on the Internet may think you were a great guy and had a great life
Adrian Peterson
Wouldn't that ruin the movie though? She says outright that if she had never met him she would have became an old maid. If anything, it is a very empowering film to women because she chose a life of loneliness rather than marrying off to somebody whom she never would have loved.
Bentley Jackson
A fate much worse than death.
Nathaniel Rivera
>much needed return on all the money he loaned the people
This was true until Sam Wainwright's money came in. He got like half a million dollars in today's money.
To the rest of your shit, "no man is a failure who has friends." They literally spell the theme of the film out for you in plain English at the end OP, fuck's sake
Blake Wood
feminists wouldnt get that because all they would see is a woman getting her worth from a man. they would be so enraged that any other explanation would become mansplaining
Jose Bailey
>Wouldn't that ruin the movie though? Feminism ruins everything
Levi Barnes
Yeah, it was a lot of money, but he didn't actually get to use it for anything, it was all a deposit for keeping himself out of jail. Potter was the one who really won in the end.
And he was a failure. He only has "friends" when he gives them stuff.
Angel Stewart
>it was all a deposit for keeping himself out of jai
They literally never say this
Mason Martin
The major conflict of the movie is that his uncle loses the $8,000 deposit and George will be arrested if it cannot be found. Potter has the money and is intentionally keeping it to knock off his only competitor, and the town gives him the money to save the day.
Leo Baker
>it is a very empowering film to women because she chose a life of loneliness rather than marrying off to somebody whom she never would have loved.
that's not how they see it. Feminist see men as interchangeable beasts of burden. So by that logic a pretty young women should have easily found another man and went on with her life.
Jeremiah Hernandez
It was $800 and what's your point? Yeah Potter got a little richer than he already was but they show him spending Christmas Eve with his manservant in his office. George had dozens of people come together to help him in his time of need and ended up even richer in the end. I don't know how you come away from that thinking Potter won
Parker Morris
The movie shows that George wasn't the only option though. Her mother wanted her to marry the guy that started the plastic business and got rich, but she didn't love him. She only wanted to marry someone she actually loved, and without George she didn't meet someone.
Further, she always wanted to fix up the abandoned house, which she did, and she helped build the Home & Loan with George, she is a very strong and independent woman, especially for the 30's/40's
Easton Ross
holy shit topkek
Tyler Edwards
what kind of school gym has a fucking pool under the floor like that?!?!
Camden Perry
Places that want to hold swim class in late December. Pretty common actually if you aren't a westcoast fag
James Nelson
I know right? There are entire continents of people whose dream is to be as "unfortunate" as this guy.
Good job. Beautiful kids. Beautiful loyal loving wife. Comfy small town in America.
Ohhhhhh poooor meeee!!!!
Aiden Parker
Everyone had that kinda life back then. So it didn't seem so special
Oliver Parker
He was about lose his business and potentially go to prison when he decided he wanted to off himself
Tyler Campbell
ITT: millennials that don't understand kino
Noah Rodriguez
>Clarence explains parallel universes by drawing a line on chalk board and then another line branching off
Gabriel Ross
>to my brother, the richest man in town
always cry at that part
Logan Smith
It was $4000 I'm pretty sure, and Potter never gets any sort of comeuppance for what he did. He just keeps the money.
Mason Thompson
this probably one of the most wholesome movies ever made
Juan Bell
>Potter never gets any sort of comeuppance for what he did. He just keeps the money. Just like in real life.
Robert Brown
Nigga I've watched that movie every Christmas Eve for 25 years, it's $800. Which granted is like $10k in today's money, but $4000 would be like $50k.
Potter's comeuppance is that he's still an old codger who's hated by everyone he knows and will die alone. He got away with stealing $10k, big whoop, he was already rich and it didn't change his situation at all
Carson Wilson
>teacher says every time a bell rings an angel gets their wings >guess tomorrow we will demand that teacher is fired for forcing her Stone Age religious beliefs on our family and then we can sue the city for putting up Christmas decorations
I didn't really like the modern day remake
Bentley Watson
I just want to know how they'll include the lgbt and Muslims into it, maybe make Potter an allegory for Trump because why not
