Inside No. 9

New kino Inside No. 9 start in 15 minutes. Will you be watching live?
What're your favourite episodes? Did you like last week's episode? Discuss anything Inside No. 9/League of Gentlemen/dark humour in this thread.

Telly's on. Hoping for a dark twist again this week, even though the previous episode was great, I love the series for its huge dark twists

Dead thread. Shit show. How low the BBC has fallen.

Last Gasp and The Riddle of The Sphinx are my favourites.
Geoff is my favourite from League of Gentlemen.

Watching now, wonder what the twist will be, great dialogue right now

Oh so that was the twist

'A Quiet Night In' and 'Sardines' were great episodes especially with how the small dog was dealt with

Love this show, one of my favorites. Will watch later tonight.

Pretty good episode. Bit too close to home with how much Pemberton looked like my dad when he was pissed though.
Same time next week?

Fuck me, that twist hit me harder than what I could've expected. I liked Zanzibar, but a twist like this reminds me how much I enjoy the show. Genuine piece of sad drama there.

I got an inkling midway through, of what the twist would be. Pretty depressing episode, still a couple of good laughs.
>We can't do that anymore
>Sure we could. If we work on it
>No we can't. They're all Yewtree now

The last season of this was good, so maybe this one will be good
Unfortunately I am not British.

The cool thing about ones like that are that they're pretty sparse set wise and are more like stage plays than anything else.

Didn't care much for Zanzibar since it seemed like they wrote it thinking it was much more clever than it actually was

fuckin hell lads 10/10

I was watching something the other night that had a Yew Tree joke in it but can't remember what it was now. Might have even been The League of Gentlemen over Christmas. Going do my nut in until I figure it out now.

Fuck me what an episode

>they're all yewtree now

I think the League of Gentlemen had a Yew Tree line, probably from there. I had the same deja vu

Depressing yet entertaining, it's what I watch Inside #9 for

>Didn't care much for Zanzibar since it seemed like they wrote it thinking it was much more clever than it actually was
It was very clever. They never let the stanza limitations get too much of a hold on the storytelling, I thought it was perfectly done, providing a good story while also keeping the Shakespeare theme running without it damaging the story.

While adhering to the limitations was admirable, the story was like an abandoned 'Hi-De-Hi' episode.

Agree with all of your 10/10s, but really all of them are amazing telly

Diddle diddle dumpling should be higher but agree with most of these, all fantastic episodes to be honest

Bump Tom & Gerri up to an 8 because it genuinely nails life on the dole and not seeing a reason to even leave the house.
I'd change The Devil of Christmas to 10/10 because I did not see that twist coming whatsoever and it freaked me out a bit before it twigged.
Agree on all the rest though.
I'd love to see Alice Lowe in this. She'd be perfect for it.

That one didn't really do it for me, thought the twist would be bigger. But like you said, all of them are amazing, not a bad episode in them.

These threads deserve more than this, so bump

They missed a trick not casting Sophie Turner as the deaf girl in Empty Orchestra.
A karaoke room is the biggest horror any of the episodes could put me through I reckon

This deserves much more attention, but I guess it's not for everyone. I fucking loved this and last week's episode. Really, really happy it's back for a fourth series

Another fantastic episode. Criminally underrated show

I love the BBC for renewing it every year. The viewing figures are quite low, yet they keep renewing it because they know it's great telly. Better shows have been cancelled, but someone at the BBC knows they have gold in their hands even if the general public doesn't realise it.

First few seasons are on Netflix now. Hopefully more people start watching

I hope the Netflix attention gives it further success, like Black Mirror. Unlike Black Mirror, I sincerely hope it avoids being purchased and Americanised by people that don't understand what makes it great.

Shearsmith and Pemberton don't seem like the Brooker sell-outs. They either get cancelled or they keep to the BBC. Thankfully I feel like they wouldn't accept a big million pounds deal for Netflix. They seem to have a spine to them.

I'm all for extra viewers from Netflix, but I can't imagine they'd sell out to American cunts and lower their writing.
Imagine an American watching Zanzibar, they wouldn't understand 20% of the dialogue alone.

I doubt Shearsmith and Pemberton would sell it to anyone else or even let anyone they didn't know and trust in on the writing process.

A good chunk of their humour is deeply rooted in britland terms and behaviour, US just wouldnt 'get half of it

She was already in it, in the Seance Time episode

Psychoville and Inside No. 9 would translate over a lot better than League of Gentlemen though, that's one of the most British shows out there.

Working at a Job Centre I can say that Pauline and Mickey are 100% real people that exist out there

We've been through this dozens of times, American versions ruin everything. Thank fuck Shearsmith and Pemberton have some pride. Both have gone on record saying they've been offered Hollywood contracts but remain happy doing their stuff in the UK.

Not saying that they should be remade, just saying Americans would understand those other shows a lot better than LoG given exposure.
Going around charity shops I've met a few Vinnie and Reenies.

I wonder how Gatiss feels knowing that he's been relegated to bit parts for Dr Who whereas this pair have a whole show

Oh shit, yeah. Completely forgot she was the make-up girl. Well shit. I just want to see more of her on TV after I watched Sightseers and Prevenge a while back.

To be fair to them, the Yanks came up with The Twilight Zone so they're exactly strangers to anthology series. I imagine it'd be a cult thing over there.

He's also involved in Sherlock though the best thing he's probably done post-gentlemen are the History of Horror documentaries he did because he's clearly passionate about the material.

He also has a recurring role in Game of Thrones. Unfulfilling as his career might be, I'm sure he's crying all the way to the bank.

As long as he's stopped in the street every now and again and called Auntie Val, I'm sure he'll be happy.
It's a shit business

It's alright... it's alright... it's alright...

Favourite new character from series 3.

Think he might have made one brief appearance in series 2 but having his own story-line was needed.

So he was. Apparently he was based on a hotelier the Gents met who even told the Robin Hood story almost word for word.
