Admit it. Your expectations were subverted.
Admit it. Your expectations were subverted
Well my expectation was that it would be at the very least better than the attack of the clones, so yeah it subverted my expectations.
This movie literally has zero re-watchability.
Yes so were Disney's accountants'
ho ho ho ho ho ho
Would you rather have gotten a boring and predictable movie instead
I guess he did succeed after all
If I wake up mysteriously covered in feces it's a win because it truly did subvert my expectations of how my day was going to begin.
not really, I excepted a ESB remake mixed with a decent amount of #killallwhitemen and that's exactly what I got
Is that the only alternative?
>Expect bad movie
>Get bad movie
Subversion failed
I expected it to be good.
This but unironically
luke
if they had treated luke more gracefully i could forgive it but no. it was disgusting and distasteful
>implying that I was being ironic when I said it
No, they were validated which is why I didn't see any of the sequels. Or prequels for that matter.
>Expect memes
>Force memes
Subversion succesful
>implying I was implying you were
Wew lad
You stole my line.
Yeah, I expected to see a good fuckin movie that was at all emotionally satisfying and made some semblance of sense. Those expectations were subverted like nobody's business.
>*knowingly nods to my fellow third weekender*
The box office predictions were subverted
Well yeah, but if that's his and that feminist's only selling point then there's no way it was gonna work.
Uuuuuummm....is that not what we fucking got? Well, not necessarily the "predictable" part, but certainly boring. There was nothing for me to watch. There were no characters I cared about because literally everyone was out of character, there was no plot, and nothing in the movie made sense. Tell me, what the fuck is entertaining about watching a movie about no one we care about doing nothing that matters?
>steady decline of having the last four star wars movies subverting my expectations as i learn to expect the same thing
its an easy pattern, though rian did subvert more than any other star wars film
So my choices are boring and predictable or total trainwreck?
That's the only kind of films Disney can make?
Depends is it better written, is Luke treated with dignity?
I expected a good movie. My expectations were subverted. Hopefully my expectations will be subverted again when I watch a pirated rip of Solo, because after this fiasco I’m expecting a trash movie
No, it honestly fell in line with TFA. The only thing I was surprised at is how terrible they made everything else surrounding the main plot. After killing han solos characterization I wasnt exactly expecting disney to do luke justice. Hell they even doubled down to have yoda reaffirm that rey is a giant mary sue, now with even less believability.
Unironically yes, they are.
moana was cute
Maybe they should make a star wars musical
I never expected the twists they would go and pull. And I loved it when they subverted the hell out of my expectations.
I never expected it would be that great.
>spend the entire film waiting to see how they tastefully kill Leia in a way that makes sense.
>she gets blown out into space and you see her telepathically reach out to Luke
>yes this is perfect
>she then uses the force and flies back into the ship and comes back to life.
Tasteful.
Is disappointment a form of subversion?
...
Yeah this is the point where the film really took a turn for the shit.
>Rey becoming evil
>Kylo still dark but more sane
>Kylo undergoing more training at the same time as Rey
>Luke being treated better
>Leia dying instead of pink hair cunt
This would have been better.
Reminder
>No Throne Room Redux because Snek is dead
>Kylo Ren now has to be the de facto villain for the final movie
>he has no arch, he flirted with good and chose evil
>Luke is pointlessly dead, now Rey has to carry unless a force ghost is going to have a major presence in the movie
>Rey is an even bigger Mary Sue greatest Jedi evar
>Blacked with Rey is denied
>They have to resolve Leia somehow, may resort to CGI again (lul)
>Solo set to bomb hard, Disney's media machine will be stretched having to defend two stinkers in a row
>STILL no explanation for Snek
>STILL no explanation for the Knights of Ren
>STILL no explanation for any of that shit in Rey's visions (Jar Jar will have to change Rey's parentage, at the very least)
>There is hardly a character interesting enough to even mention, much less save the movie out of nowhere
If I were Jar Jar, I would use this film entirely to set up the next trilogy
>Rey HAS to turn bad
>Rey HAS to be related to Kylo (easy combo)
>Deal with Leia in the crawl, have a passage of time to reset the stage a bit
>Introduce Knights of Ren and make them interesting (ALSO WHERE THE FUCK WERE THEY?)
>Have the good guys be recharged at the start of the movie but get BTFO by Rey's betrayal by the end
>Make Finn the guy to go into hiding or whatever and train jedis or train to become a Jedi himself or what not, his character will carry on to the next trilogy
I don't think it's unsalvegable, but it will basically be a 'middle movie' at the end of a trilogy.
It managed to not be predictable. But somehow I still got bored. Literally fell asleep when my family pulled me in for a second viewing.
I expected that nothing could possibly be worse than episode 7. Boy was I mistaken.
>Expected it would be shit
>Turned out to be crap instead
Much subversion. Very meta.
after episode 7 i expected a terrible movie. you can draw your own conclusions
