Someone explain to me why you like this movie so much. I had high hopes partly due to you autists, and it was such a let down. It just felt so bland, the pace was slow, the characters had no depth, the plot was what, talking about some random kid for 1,5 hours? Had to spend a lot of time with my second screen to not die of boredom.
The universe is pretty cool and ana is hot, but that seems about it. Just take the time he meets Ford, like 10 min of literally the most boring "fight" and non dialogue, no emotion like the rest of the movie of course. Her was much better honestly.
Gavin Campbell
You found it boring because your attention span is the same as a fucking fish. Not boring at all if you actually pay attention to the scenes. Fuck you and your gay thread
Chase Sanchez
Have you watched the first Blade Runner?
Brandon Brown
babbys first 2+ hours movie it's shit
Ayden Foster
R*ddit
Elijah Foster
If you didn't watch it alone in IMAX you never really saw it. You watched it at home while dicking around on your second screen? Disgraceful.
Dylan Phillips
why are the same handful of people constantly astroturfing negative posts about this all of a sudden?
Brody Bailey
Because it imitates just the right amount of superficial arthouse production aspects to convince wannabe patrician fedoralords, that they're witnessing a serious artwork, while still remaining a simple shallow scifi flick that doesn't burden them with any actual mental workload. Add the lack of popularity and "muh waifu" and you basically have a movie tailor-made for your average 'tfw to smart' Sup Forumseenager whose film-related activities are comprised solely of 'ironically' watching capeshit and 'ironically' shitposting about it, while still sincerely thinking himself a "kinoisseur".
Ethan Thomas
>being this much of a contrarian life must fucking suck
Camden Wood
perfect post. might as well copy it to post when the next thread inevitably surfaces.
Luis Parker
go back to watching capeshit you fucking brainlet
Levi Lopez
While I think you are pretty spot on, it's hard to call it unpopular with 8.3 on IMDB. People have seemed pretty happy about it on here too from what I've seen. What was so good about it then? Oh *crickets* yeah I thought so.
Julian Wood
You can’t really be critical of something if the movie went over your head and you missed all the main points.
Angel Martin
Sup Forumseditors don’t even like bladerunner. What the fuck are you on about?
Colton Martin
Then give me a short rundown oh wise one
Lucas Torres
>why does the board that never shuts up about capeshit and starshit like a big budget sequel/reboot Hmmmm I wonder
Owen Wood
If I'm being brutally honest, the film dies for me at the moment Deckard gets kidnapped. It's at that point I genuinely feel like the writer went 'damn now I have to right an ending', and that revolution crap was just straight up garbage. However up until that point, it's pure kino. Written, shot and acted very well.
Carter Parker
it's just a well-made movie, simple as that. strong motd contender.
Oliver James
You could write a philosophy book based off it
Jackson Hall
Watch every West Wing and Gilmore Girls episode so you can get your need for dialogue out of your system and then watch 2049.
Jordan Campbell
Would it be called picklerunner?
Noah Rivera
There is a qualitative difference to dialogue you know. Her was slow paced too, but the main character and dialogue actually had depth, and was relatable. Bladerunner was like a cartoon for kids.
Brody Stewart
"What is, Philip K. Dick?"
Isaac Morgan
...
Adam Jenkins
>the pace was slow Fans of Blade Runner are low-IQ so they need slow-paced movies because they have difficulty understanding. That is also the reason why they watch a movie multiple times. They need stuff to be explained to them slowly and repeatedly. Some are born with low IQ's while others are old white guys with Alzheimers.
Leo Lopez
You're 19 and your life is still mostly about getting laid.
Watch it again in your 30s after you've had enough relationships with women to appreciate the depth of their fakery and their coming obsolescence.
Julian Reyes
But the most kino scene comes after that point
Oliver Hill
This argument is what pertains to the majority of Sup Forums jerking their cocks to the movie.
I found it to be at least MOTY for something Hollywood-based. Philosophical claims are skin-level, admittedly. There's little in the way of reusing the same trite plot devices, over and over again. TLJ did just that, while Rogue One ditched most of that for more interesting narratives- a non-essential character to the grand scheme being placed in the spotlight, Shakespearean levels of self-immolation, shock of plot twists used periodically but not to the point of excess, and emotional appeals that are cerebral instead of forced. It was a great film, with a somewhat-new director, and blending of the last generation's wants with present audience's wants
James Howard

John Nelson
lmfao The fact that the director chose fucking Jared Leto is another testament to the poor quality of the overall production.
Ryan Russell
It's their default. Goose was probably wondering how far joi was able to diverge from her programming through personal experience. Much like his own questions. Joi is merely a Russian nesting doll within the story which has you wonder if he sees joi as humans see him.
Joseph Howard
Just someone who's been there. I know exactly how I would have felt about this movie if I saw it at 19. I would have thought it looked nice but had a boring and stupid plot.
Daniel Reed
Why did Ana give K her memories?
Juan Lewis
You have a different experience the second time you watch it, at the very least. Sometimes I only watch a movie once for that reason.
Nicholas Martin
Yes Jared was a mistake.
Isaac Parker
I loved it because, unlike the original, it’s actually a detective movie. The noir aesthetic runs deep and strong here, and honestly that shit makes me fucking cum.
I do wish deeply that they implemented more jazz though. Instead we got that BUUUW WAAAUUUUUU that Johann Johannson wrote but Zimmer got the credit for.
Kevin Peterson
Nah i wrote it just now, user
Isaac Wood
>I loved it because, unlike the original, it’s actually a detective movie what a stupid reason to like one movie more than another

Jayden Edwards
The original BR is a better film in every sense of the word.
I've never fallen asleep during blade runner. I fell asleep the first two times I tried watching BR49. It's the middle, in Vegas. Puts me to sleep every time. And the scene with Elvis sucks.
Charles Mitchell
Because it just like an original Blade Runner, only now it has the easily digestible, retarded "Save The Cat" plot involving a race against time for the Macguffin and muh waifus, so naturally Sup Forums loved that shit.
Justin Martinez
kek
Lincoln Nelson
I mean the original’s a stellar movie. I just like 2049’s commitment to the whole detective idea.

I would have you know that my IQ is actually in the top 2%. Have you considered the possibility that, in fact, you yourself may be the brainlet mutt?
Cameron Watson
Maybe it was because I got into the movie expecting to hate it because whenever Sup Forums circlejerks about something it's generally average, but I thought it was amazing. It took advantage of everything film should be about, not just in telling a story, but in HOW it's telling it as well. It's got everything you need to make it easy for you to get invested into that world and disregarding all that because the movie is slow is like missing the point completely I'd say.

"Boring" is not a valid argument, it only says what your mood was while watching the film. Same as saying "it was fun", that does not indicate anything about the actual quality of the film whatsoever.
Nolan Scott
>Someone explain to me why you like this movie so much 1. Director is humble and hasn't pissed many people off with any of his previous films (which were all at least good). Some people didn't like the ending of Arrival, or didn't understand Enemy, but those aren't major strikes against him.
2. The main character is very blank and relatable to many people, to the point of feeling like a self-insert.
3. There are several important / iconic scenes where the meaning / what the character is feeling is left open to interpretation, and that allows viewers to interpret in a way that really resonates with how they would themselves feel.
4. It has great visuals, acting, cinematography, underlying themes, basically the execution of almost every single filmmaking element is flawless. A big budget let them use ultra detailed practical effects everywhere.
5. It's a long-off sequel to a Harrison Ford movie / beloved sci-fi cult classic that was not terrible for once
6. It indulges people's fantasies about AI waifus, and makes them ask philosophical questions about AI and how they think, whether they can feel "real" emotions and have a true sense of self, etc. It contrasts this with replicants, who are genetically engineered instead of programmed.
7. It flopped at the box office, which makes it an underdog. Everyone roots for the underdog.
8. Good cyberpunk movies are few and far between
Levi Hughes

Nathaniel Phillips
The source bit rate is only 2500k, increasing it would make no difference to the quality.

>thinks it's about quality when it's actually about the superior metadata
Austin Murphy
I liked the film but I didn't think it was anything special, if anything a very underwhelming film, and I do agree that it is highly overrated. Essentially it was to Blade Runner what Jurassic World was to Jurassic Park. I'm guessing its popularity has all to do with the popular opinions and trends of people, social media and all that jazz.
Hudson Adams

best movie that came out in 2017 are you one of those people that are still figuring out Inception ?
Gabriel Walker
I really hope this post was ironic. Because the same people that thought Inception was OMG DUDE SO FUCKING DEEP are the same yahoos that think Blade Runner 2049 was deep.
Adam Roberts
>figuring out Inception Is it even possible to get confused at that movie, since it literally has a main character whose only purpose and dialogue is exposition?
Jace Richardson
Then why didn't BR2049 make almost a billion in box office? Normalfaggots loved Inception, while they clearly didn't like BR2049 or Blade Runner at all
Jackson Davis
In today's market normies watch shit on streaming services like netflix. Normies are fucking idiots, so they don't even understand that not going to see movies when they play hurts their box office.
Now let me ask you this, why did every normie youtube reviewer praise the fuck out of BR2049?
Juan Kelly
>In today's market normies watch shit on streaming services like netflix Then why does capeshit and starshit still make billions in the box office? >Now let me ask you this, why did every normie youtube reviewer praise the fuck out of BR2049? You are being selective here, almost EVERY reviewer praises the film, it's practically universally praised by all of them. Kermode who basically has a PhD in Blade Runner loves it immensely too
Also they are called normalfaggots you dumb crossposting tripfag
Noah Phillips

Christopher Rodriguez
I never watched a single star wars, that shit is stupid and for kids, like this movie. They are adressing the same exact audience. You and star cucks are one and the same.
Ethan Perez
>an almost 3 hour long R rated visually focused slow burning neo-noir sci fi film with zero quips that deals with the human condition >"that shit is stupid and for kids, like this movie" I'm sure "the kids" loved it, sure thing buddy.
Jordan Lee
>Then why does capeshit and starshit still make billions They are hugely popular franchises. If you were intelligent enough, you'd know that. >BR2049 universally praised For that I only have to say it's all marketing bullshit. Even if the film is shit if one normie reviewer tells you it's "good" a hundred other normies will fall in line to support the claim. Anyone who has seen the original and the new flick will tell you it's nothing but a "glib facsimile". >kermode Oh one of the gods of contrarianism.
Gabriel Nguyen
Imagine having this strong of an opinion on things you know nothing about.
Henry Moore
Boy you sure seem asshurt over something.
Easton Hernandez
This film is rated R, retard.
Lincoln Ramirez
>They are hugely popular franchises. If you were intelligent enough, you'd know that. But you said normalfaggots watch exclusively Netflix and don't go to the theater? Make up your mind. >For that I only have to say it's all marketing bullshit. Nice cope and delusion when almost EVERY critic out there praises the film >Anyone who has seen the original and the new flick will tell you it's nothing but a "glib facsimile". Nice use of the empty popular buzzword term you clueless tripfag. >Oh one of the gods of contrarianism. What? Are you sure you know who Kermode even is? The man made an entire documentary about the first Blade Runner and how it was done with Ridley Scott himself. He knows more about Blade Runner than the entirety of this board.
Tripfags of today are exceptionally embarassing.
Ryder White
You could put in the human condition as a theme in pretty much every movie, what a wide statement. I love movies about human nature, or AI like Ex Machina, but in BR everything was just so cut and dry, devoid of any emotion and so painfully slow moving. It's kinda like Gravity, the cinematography is great and all, but there's gotta be more to it, if you're not a brainlet.
Xavier Cook
>devoid of any emotion idk, for me it was maybe most emotionally moving film I've ever seen.
Carson Davis
>what a wide statement The original makes you question what is the difference between a replicant and a human, while this just simply asks you "Does it matter?" Does it matter if you are programmed or born, does it matter if the love you're experiencing is programmed or not etc It expands on all narratives of the original and the book.
>devoid of any emotion The romantic subplot is one of the most genuinely emotionally investing relationships in recent cinema history.
>so painfully slow moving You don't watch films released before your birth date, do you?
Nolan Morales
Normalfags do watch netflix. Are you saying they don't?
I guess if popular critics say something is good it must mean it's true right? I mean, these critics wouldn't just blindly promote something for money now, would they.
>le kermode is le blade runner god You're so fucking mistaken it isn't even funny anymore.
