What exactly about that list is pretentious?
It's not just the list, it's posting his top 15 movies from 2010 in a thread about top movies in 2000th century... and the movies in the list. It just screams of "oh, well, i have like sort of a, really, interesting movie interest, like, all of my movies are like, super, artistic and slow, but i really like, understand them. No big deal but i understand you dont understand"
Are you just insecure? Is that it? It was too hard to go back to the 2000s (17 years worth of movies is a fucking lot) so I figured it would be easier to do the current decade. I loved all these movies.
Nice! To add a few to these fine lists
By the Time it Gets Dark
Knight of Cups
The Master
Post Tenebras Lux
Upstream Color
Inland Empire
At the First Breath of Wind

>shaun of the dead
>no country for old men
>inglourious basterds
>the departed
What the fuck is wrong with you? That's a great list.
Then learn to pick your favorites, think and analyse a little instead of just mindlessly throw them all into a long list which is off topic. It's lazy what you're doing, lazy
>Then learn to pick your favorites, think and analyse a little instead of just mindlessly throw them all into a long list which is off topic.
Those are my favorites since 2010. That is exactly what the thread was about. How is it off topic?
I agree, most movies are really good. But the poster is pretentious
Don't forget:
Syndromes and a Century
Val e Vem
Batang West Side
Still Life
Pasolini
The Master
No Country
That's it.
With how upset you got over the posting of his list, I'm guaranteeing you've seen less than five of those movies. Stop being a pleb and broaden your horizons.
dude look his post is pretentious but your favorites include Kill Bill and fucking Babadook. you have no room to talk shit about anything.
And why's that? Because i like other movies than just artisticly tryhard ones? I like different movies for different reasons, i grew up watching kill bill so i've grown emotionally attached to them, also found new aspects to the film which i didn't notice earlier because of me growing up. And the babadook is very representative of how i felt during a period of time in my life, no matter how annoying the kid is, the scariest movie i've ever seen since it resonates so well with my worst fears
>And why's that?
because you have horrible taste and don't understand the first thing about what makes movies good or interesting
>I LIKE DA KILL BILL BECUZ I WATCHED THE KILL BILL AS A KID
I liked Sin City when I was young too but I immediately recognize that it is not a good movie.
Oh, and you do? Please do educate me on what to like, taught master of my own fucking movietaste
Yeah so did i, Sin city is fun but shit. Kill bill isn't. Great dialog, very fun references to all kinds of cultures and movies (from overhyped kungfu movies to superhero themes), amazing sounddesign, amazing atmosphere and very well made fighting choreography (not really jackie chan level, but then again what is?). Without a doubt tarantinos best movie(s)
>Oh, and you do?
I do know absolutely more than you. First thing's first: A movie that you praise for having "superhero themes" is not a movie that is interesting, it is a movie for adults who have not matured past childish fantasies. Kill Bill is a childish fantasy movie (revenge movies played straight typically are childish). Hateful Eight trounces Kill Bill by a head and shoulders because it dared to try something a little bit more daring with its structure, writing characters who actually were a little bit deeper than surface level badasses. Yes Sin City is shit but Kill Bill is shit too, just a little less shit because it does have some "fun" dialogue.

So what's the verdict then?
With superhero themes I mean mainly the dialog between Bill and Kiddo in the end where he states that Clark Kent is his favorite because it's a mocking example of how pathetic humanity is. "Clark Kent is how superman sees us, and what are the characteristics of clark kent?", it's about how dissappointed and hurt Bill is by Kiddo chosing to cloak her superpower (which is killing) and becoming just another human. It's subtle, implicative, great dialog, and the movie has tons if it. To compare this to a moivie like sin city really shows how deeply you missunderstand Kill Bill.
The revenge story is only a overexagurated silly narrative, and Tarrantino knows this. Why do you think Oren is already crossed off the list in the beginning of the movie? It's showing in the first few minutes that the actual narrative is not the point of the story. The movies fucking name is Kill Bill. It's as clear as it comes, it shows that the focus shouldn't be there, but in appreciating the journey up until she kills bill.
Above all though, Kill Bill is FUN. Movies does not always have to be diehard super serious to be good.

Top kek
Arrival is shit. 2049 is literally the Fight Club of today: nice above-average movie that is ridiculously overpraised by rabid autistic teenagers.
1. No Country for Old Men
2. Requiem for a Dream
3. Snatch
That was easy.
>2009 - Fantastic Mr. Fox (bad film year tbqh)
It wasn't great but it did have some stand-outs.
>Inglourious Basterds
>Moon
>Up in the Air
>Avatar
>(500) Days of Summer
>Mr. Nobody
Granted, I was 17 when I watched most of these movies in 2009.
Great list, though, and checked trips.

No Country for Old Men

Finding Nemo
There's actually probably a lot but these are the only ones that spring to mind, so that means they're my favorites.
Kungfu hustle
memories of murder
Tale of princess kaguya
The raid
I feel these movies will still be acclaimed in the next 50 years.
>With superhero themes I mean mainly the dialog between Bill and Kiddo in the end
That's not "superhero themes", user. That's a basic analogy about trying to live a normal life when you're capable of more, written by a man who has read a couple of comic-books. It's not even a good analogy because Tarantino gets Superman entirely backwards in order to force the analogy to work.
Kiddo isn't at all made out to be a superhero in any way at any point during the films. She's a mother out for revenge.
Also, you're online. Open a fucking tab and check your spelling in Google before posting, cretin.
Shit I actually forgot about Moon. 50/50 between Fantastic Mr. Fox & Moon tbqh. Great film.
>>Inglourious Basterds
Tarantino is a great filmmaker but after Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction it just seems like he's repeating himself. I think he reversed his evolution as a filmmaker after Jackie Brown.
>>Up in the Air
Meh.
>>Avatar
Saw it in theaters when it came out and remember liking it, but not thinking that it was anything special.
>>(500) Days of Summer
Ok romcom with a twist. A bit pretentious but it gets a bit too much hate. I loved it when I was a teenager.
>>Mr. Nobody
Solid movie, but
Still 2009 was kind of meh.
