Why has Bolt been largely forgotten...

Why has Bolt been largely forgotten? I'd still argue that it was the true turning point for Disney and paved the way for their 3D CG hits down the road.

No idea, it was actually pretty cute from what I remember.

furryshit

It wasn't forgotten because there was no scene where bolt gave mittens the knot

This.

Working in the home video industry, I can tell you it hasn't been forgotten. It's somewhere in the middle.

And yeah, it was the first clear example of Pixar's influence in Disney Animation after the merger. They tried to fix Meet the Robinsons midproduction, but it was too late for that one.

A lot of people would argue that's a bad thing. Bolt was completely changed, as it was going to be American Dog under Disney and it was Chris Sanders' movie. John Lasseter pretty much changed the entire thing.

>Working in the home video industry
That still exists?

>Interspecies

It's literally the Oliver and Company of the second Disney Renaissance. Both movies are about dog-cat friendships, both focus on the bond between a little girl and her pet, both canine leads are voiced by a famous singer.
A turning point yes and a sign of good things to come, but overshadowed in the public eye by what came immediately after it (a return to fairytale musicals).

Bolt's also a very understated movie in the sense that there's no bombastic villain or love story. In some senses it's one of the most down to earth entries in the Disney canon.
The moral of the story is 'you're not special, magic isn't real - and that's okay, life is worth living even without grandiose heroic adventures' and that's an incredibly rare thing for Disney.

It was released in the same month as Twilight? And in the same year as The Dark Knight? I dunno I'm just trying to think of things happening around that time that the average person would have been talking about/obsessing over.

Interesting that it was one of those few films that allowed the female character to get beat up and abused for half a movie. Dat cat hate.

It's neither good or bad enough to be solidly memorable based on it's quality, and it doesn't have any particularly iconic scenes or characters.
If you asked people about it they'd probably recall it and say they remember it being pretty good, but it doesn't really have anything to bring it to the front of peoples minds.

The road-trip montage was pretty close. It's what I think of when I think of this movie.

Now I wanna look up if there's actually any Bolt on Mitten's porn. I don't even wanna Jack off to it, I just wanna see if it exists.

Anyone got concept art of the original American Dog plot?

Fun fact: Chris Sanders was a contributor to Rowrbrazzle, an early furry fandom magazine.

Of course there is

It had my waifu.

I quite liked Bolt. Not enough to obsess over it though.

My brother and I were really into this movie around when it came out, probably watched it like 6 times over the course of a couple of weeks. I should watch it again.

Thank you Slannesh

Because it was just okay. It wasn't exactly good, but nor was it bad. There's nothing about it to remember.

is right in comparing it to Oliver and Company, but at least that had some memorable songs if nothing else.

That cat...

>That meat lover pizza is NOT loving me back...

I liked it a lot. But it was not a super movie worth obsessing over. Which is probably for the best. I could pick it up now a few years later and still enjoy it

Mittens is a very lewd and affectionate kitty

Why does half the world seems utterly okay with sadism against cats

>I'd still argue that it was the true turning point for Disney and paved the way for their 3D CG hits down the road.

That was Meet the Robinsons.

Hey me too, that shit was comfy as fuck

Bolt looks like a puppy, despite being an adult doge.

And that is disgusting.

Best ship

Am I the only one who wishes we could have gotten a Bolt TV series but like, an actual Bolt the Superdog TV series full of over the top ridiculous action like in the movies opening?

I actually would have preferred a nice simple story of Bolt, Mittens, and Rhino, just getting into day-to-day adventures and trying to get by as strays.

They could easily have done both, half the episode is the gang in shenanigans intercut with zany action shots from that weeks showing of superdog Bolt.

There is a surprisingly large amount of art shipping these two. And it amazes me that Sup Forums somehow isn't responsible for this.

To be honest there were Nick/Judy levels of almost romantic tension going on there. Give them a year or so and they'll be adopting stray kittens and puppies.

wew

Because of that one fat furfag that called themselves Bolt's biggest #1 fan and bought a shit ton of merchandise to the point their parents tried to return them and the furfag ate the receipts.

>male canine
>female feline

I don't think I would have liked American Dog. The dog knew he was an actor, but got "lost" and thought they were still filming him when he was really out in the country somewhere. The animals could talk to humans and wore clothes and shit.

It would have been a much different movie. I liked what we got.

I know it's Chris Sanders but this is an extremely ugly artstyle. Would have looked Illumination-tier in CG.

Is that a problem? It's a common trope because it works.

Has there ever been a duo made up of a male cat and a female dog, or something equivalent?

It's a surprise Sup Forums didn't waifu her and make her a fotm.
Though I guess her design is a bit plain, her clothes are more dynamic than she is

I think that was one of Miley's last big roles before she went crazy.

She looks like a young Helen par
