Sthicc and puffy

This is the kind of movie that gets praised by plebs because it's so noticeably different from mainstream filmmaking. But that doesn't make it automatically good. The dialogue/performance style is certainly unique, but it's just constantly distracting and off-putting without any real value. The story is bizarre, but it also adds up to nothing - no coherent statement or point, no real character development, nothing relatable to the human experience, nothing. It seems like the director's whole philosophy of making this film was "haha wouldn't it be weird if..."

It succeeded in making me uncomfortable, which I guess was intended. You could call it "atmospheric," but that alone isn't enough to make it a good movie. Great films are "atmospheric" too, but they succeed on many other levels as well.

I liked "Dogtooth," but it seems like Yorgos is just getting less and less interesting with each film he makes. He needs to change up his style or at least think of something interesting to say, because if his next one looks like more of the same, I'm not even gonna bother seeing it.

If you're really in the mood for a cold, uncomfortable movie by a European filmmaker, watch "The Square" instead. Ruben Ostlund is legit, Yorgos is just a pretender

>seething
kek, thanks for playing. better luck next time

this

licks lips

The movie is about the morality in killing one of your own to save the others, how and if to chose. Throw a huge load of Lovecraftian "Fear of the unknown" in it and you have it.

Registered on potential child molester list: check

whered you get a high quality magnet

its okay if you want to see a different film style, but as a film taken for itself it is a very tiresome task to watch it to the end

thanks for the blog

Imagine being this guy.

Told your mom the same

Should have killed the wife, desu

Mike and Jay recommend it so it must be great.

They recommended seeing it in theaters or the bluray, not an abysmal web-dl. Wait for the BD

It’s worth of multiple viewing !!!

Na, knew his pervy secret, had to die

>not his traitor daughter
Only the son was worth saving

I got that, it was just set up & presented in a way that didn't work for me. I think the overstylized dialogue/acting kept me at such a distance from all the characters that I never really felt the weight of the whole "Sophie's Choice" situation, because I never connected with any of them enough to care what happened. In fact when they finally got to the "killing" scene at the end, it was laughable, and not in a good way.

it just felt really academic to me, like a movie that constantly reminds you it's just a movie, and that constantly prevented me from caring about the whole "greek tragedy" angle of it

this looks pretty alright

It's pretty good. It's funny in a very dark way, but you always know which person the main character is going to pick so there's zero tension

I liked it better than The Lobster

Shit movie. You have shit taste

The fact that the surgeon had zero chance to die made a shitty ending.

jesus christ you're autistic

You're not meant to be watching this stuff.

OP, get Dogtooth or The Lobster instead and watch Killing if you really, really like them. It honestly feels like the director is just going through the motions at this point.

TIGHT

Best movie of 2017 easily.

What is it about exactly ?

this

Thanks for the input guy's I'll torrent it now

Are you actually retarded or are you pretending to be?

>I never connected with any of them enough to care what happened
This might have been intended though. The overstylized dialogue reminded me of Brechts alienation effect in that it made me focus more on the general situation and less on what characters I feel sympathy for.

It did seem intentional, I just don't think it was a good choice. Similar scenarios have been explored many times before, in literature and film, to better effect.

To each his own, though. If it worked for you, it worked for you. It just left me really indifferent to the whole thing

I'm pretty convinced there's a whole metaphor about euthanasia going on.
