so anyone know the whole plot yet?

The trailer makes this look unbearably boring. How do you go from There will be Blood to this.

Yes. What do you want to know?

Quick rundown would be appreiciated since it's hard to gather anything from the trailer

How does the movie compare to other PTA works?

on jerb op

thats what im thinking. did daniel day-lewis and Paul Thomas Anderson join forces to create the most humdrum boring movie ever? certainly not...right?

If you're expecting some crazy plot or a shocking twist, you are mistaken. DDL is a fancy dressmaker who also happens to be a narcissist and perfectionist who is used to always getting his way. He meets a waitress named Alma and she becomes his muse - she quickly starts living with him and working for him. His affection for her appears to fade (as it always does), making her feel neglected. From there the movie is basically a power struggle between the two of them (and DDL's sister), where they each in their own way try to reassert control in the relationship.

>If you're expecting some crazy plot or a shocking twist

Far from it, since I know I'm watching a PTA film and he would not resort to such buffonery. But as I previously said I had not gotten any impression what the film is actually about or where the story will progress

thanks for the info

/thread

The twist is she poisons him with mushrooms and he falls in love with her

DDL CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS

HE CAN'T JUST TURN EVERY FUCKING FILM INTO KINO, IT'S NOT FAIR

Probably one of the best. I really liked it, on first viewing. It was just a good, straightforward character-driven story that worked on every level. Great performances all around, everything looked beautiful, I didn't think I'd be interested in the subject matter but the characters were so well-done that I really got into it.

It's not hugely ambitious like a lot of his movies, it doesn't feel like he's trying to make a big point or prove himself as a filmmaker anymore. but at the same time it seemed very personal, it's obvious that he put a lot of himself into DDL's character and the movie in general. Really good stuff, absolutely worth a watch

DDL is not religious though
