>The sequel, which is due for release in 2020, features a new motion capture system which is proving to be a headache for the Terminator and Titanic film director.
>“It’s never been done before and it’s very tricky because our motion capture system, like most motion capture systems, is what they call optical base, meaning that it uses markers that are photographed with hundreds of cameras,” he told Collider.
>“The problem with water is not the underwater part, but the interface between the air and the water, which forms a moving mirror. That moving mirror reflects all the dots and markers, and it creates a bunch of false markers.”

This can't be the actual release date can it?
need to put 1000 on my calender
I have ignored these threads until this morning
It finally hit me just how fucking stupid it really is
It's slated for December 18, 2020 at the moment. He pushed it back multiple times to let capeshit fatigue set in. By that time, both mouse shit and cape shit sagas will have ended and people will be tired of it.
Just in time for Based Jim to rake in 4 billies.
why don't they just use the same technology they used in the first one?
it looked great, no need to fuck it all up

I remember when the release date was december of 2015/2016/2017. Honestly one of the things from keeping me to an hero

Well, they're technically huge for humans.
>The Terminator franchise is officially coming back. According to Variety, Deadpool’s Tim Miller will direct the film, with Terminator 2 director James Cameron returning as a producer. The untitled sequel will hit theaters on July 26th, 2019.
>Cameron’s return to the franchise is certainly a move aimed at revitalizing it after a series of ill-advised sequels such as 2009’s Terminator: Salvation and 2015’s nostalgia-driven Terminator Genisys. Both films were attempts to reboot the series, which ultimately fizzled with critics and audiences.
>Rumors of the “reboot and conclusion” to the franchise surfaced earlier this year, with word that Cameron would be returning, with Miller attached to direct. It remains to be seen what the timing will mean for another one of Miller’s announced projects about artificial intelligence, an adaptation of William Gibson’s Neuromancer.
Based Jim is even finding time to save Terminator.

Do you fucking read? The reflections in the water will fuck it up.
Why are they filming with water to begin with. The entire world should be added in after, all the actual acting should be in an empty room with a blue screen
because this is James fucking Cameron and he wants to shoot underwater
The fuck did you just say you little faggot? Not shoot underwater? Don't fucking tell me how to do my job and go back to jerking it to fucking 2D cartoons you dumb little shit.

only 73 days until trips!!!!!
what a time to be alive!

Alright, listen here. From the day it was announced that the release of Avatar 2 was pushed from Dec 2018 to Dec 2020 I knew that Cameron would include Terminators in his new sci-fi universe. No, probably not the entire backstory with Skynet and John Connor and all that, but just the Terminator. Just the machine. Remember that T2 future war opening scene? We will get that on Pandora, except it's gonna be humans and Terminators against everything Pandora fights back with.
Why did the release date change make me think that? Because...
>Franchise creator James Cameron — who has stayed on the sidelines since directing the first two classic films — is the beneficiary of changes in copyright law. Basically North American rights to the franchise revert back to him in 2019. That is because the copyright reversion now takes place after 35 years, and The Terminator was made in 1984.
slashfilm.com
But then why 2020 instead of just 2019? Because with that huge addition Cameron will have to rewrite tons of stuff to properly introduce them in the Avatar universe and to properly utilize them in scenes. With that addition you can write some new kickass action scenes.
"But wait!" you say. "That's still really farfetched."
Yes, it is. But that's not all...
A while back we got the news that the man himself, James Cameron, will produce Terminator 6.
screenrant.com
What? James Cameron, the man whose been living and breathing for the Avatar sequels for almost a decade now is gonna take a break from that to produce the sixth movie of a franchise which he once described with the words 'the soup's kind of been pissed in.'? According to the news it's not just gonna be a sequel. It's gonna be a reboot. Reboot in what way? In a way that would make it possible to meld the Terminator universe and the Avatar universe? In a way that would make it possible to have Terminators appear in the Avatar sequels?
Let's summarize:
>The Terminator rights will revert back to Cameron in 2019
>Avatar 2 has been pushed back from 2018 to 2020
>Quaritch is confirmed to appear in all four sequels even though he died in the first film
>Cameron will produce the next Terminator movie even though he's had no desire whatsoever to do so in the past and even though he's up to his neck in work for the Avatar sequels
Why would Cameron, a workaholic and perfectionist and Avatar fanatic to the core, drop his Avatar work to work on Terminator 6? Because it will be the connection between the two universes.

I don't know what to think of this. It just seems so unlikely but it also kinda makes sense. Humans definitely would send killer robot soldiers to Pandora if the intent is war and annihilation.
are we going to see a terminator rape a navi?
Based Avatar posters,
Forgive me, for I have sinned. I was 18 years old in 2009 when Avatar was released. I was hyped for it beyond belief before it hit theaters. I saw it 3 times, twice in IMAX 3D. And I was incredibly disappointed with it.
I thought it was just like Fern Gully in space. I thought the story was overly cliche and simplistic. And sadly, I wanted to be wowed by the visual effects but I just wasn't.
I recently rewatched Avatar last night because of all the based Avatar posting. I wanted to give it another chance. AND I HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT!
The story is timeless. It's an instant classic. James Cameron taps into the deepest recesses of the human need for storytelling and culture with his films, and they truly transcend the medium into something more. My brain was not fully developed when I first saw Avatar. But now, as a young adult, I finally understand why BASED JIM is based.

Avatar was shit though
...
During the shooting of one of the desert scenes in T2 it was noon and they were a bit behind schedule. They needed sunset light but since it was noon it was way too bright. The team didn't know what to do so Cameron looked at them and said "I will set my wrist watch 6 hours ahead. This should give us ideal lighting conditions." The team looked at each other and then one of the camera operators quietly spoke up "Uhm, James, I uhm, I don't think that... works. I think your watch would just tell the wrong time. You know..." Cameron looked at him, no change in expression. He brought up his left hand and changed the time on his watch. All that while looking the camera operator in the eye. Nothing happened. He slowly turned his head toward the sun, his eyes remained unchanged. No squinting. The sun went dimmer and went down, touching the horizon. "Get the scene ready." Cameron said. That was the first leapyear.
the reason his movies are so successful is he puts in the extra effort and makes his movies look next level
I'm sure he could do it the way you mention, but it would just look like any other bland CG heavy movie
You mean Disney's™ Avatar™2®
It's not just about the look, user. Many movies look great. It's about how his films make you feel. Some call it cheesy or corny. I call it emotional and engaging.
I am still sorely disappointed at the lack of blue cat-alien titties.

You don't have to convince of that, it's just one point I was mentioning.
Where are all my Zoe bros at?
I'm sorry, but did the Cameron already lose? Oh, that's right. Filming isn't even over yet. In fact, it's only in pre-production. Does not having the technology to film at pre-production count as a loss? Is that what you're saying? Because if you're saying that I can assure you that you're wrong. Why would you make this topic when the film is still green lit? Cameron is still directing right now and he has been the best auteur in the West for how many years now? He's making one of the kino films in Hollywood who just happen to have to the advantage because they're feeding off the energy of capeshit . But you know what? They still fucking suck. Cameron is one of the best fucking directors in the Academy, he wrote Alita last year and would of released in time for this years awards if Vince Pace didn't choke. Maybe you should shut the fuck up before you make retarded topics like this. You know why? Because you're going to be embarrassed when Cameron wins and someone bumps this topic. Oh look at that, Steven Spielberg just went overbudget on Indian Jones 5 when they needed to buy Harrison Ford a new knee, just like Villeneuve did. Are you a fucking drunk? Are you retarded? Are you autistic? You are a fucking idiot and you should never make a topic on this board again and I'm fucking serious. I almost have a feeling you're the only guy making all these anti-Cameron topics because you're a faggot hater who doesn't like the artist because he's visionary. Fuck you, be good at something in YOUR life and then maybe try to troll these fucking plebs on the board, like I give a fuck. It's so easy to spot out your threads now, you're a retard. Always doing stupid shit like this. Why don't you try to be a good poster? Just for once? For once in your fucking life try not to make a topic like this. That's just you, you're always right at getting it wrong. Fuck you. You are nothing.

PAPYRUS!
No, the only thing remotely accurate about it, is that Papyrus is used for some ancillary purposes like subtitling Na'vi translations, and by a lot of fan work trying to be "Avatarish" by (partially incorrect) association. The Avatar titles are not Papyrus. They aren't. Don't argue, they just aren't. It isn't the same font any more than Arial is Helvetica. Look at the details. If it was derived as was proposed, it has been modified so much that it has become its own typeface.
There are three distinct versions of A in the Avatar title card. None of them is close to the Papyrus A.
One of the versions of A has a serif on top, the stroke on the right hangs low, and the center stroke doesn't connect.
The other two versions of A are broken on top. The stroke on the left is heavier and the end is much more squared off than the rounded end on the Papyrus A.
The V has a different profile on every single vertex, and two serifs that are not found in Papyrus.
The T is nothing like Papyrus. The stroke on top has none of the curvature/sweepyness of Papyrus, is much shorter and stouter, and the ends are finished very distinctly.
The R is also obviously distinct: the curvature is a lot different (particularly on top where the Avatar title typeface is sloping downward but Papyrus is a bit convex, and nearing the centerpoint where Avatar is very steeply downward angled and Papyrus is actually sloping back up) and the shape of the center is nothing close - it connects in Papyrus and has a gap in Avatar. There is a different and more aggressive serif on the top. The bottom leg mirrors the first A leg hanging below, which is a signature look of the Avatar titlecards.
So what is it exactly? A rough, "ancient-looking" typeface, maybe vaguely related to Papyrus, that gets subjected to texturizations/3D solid renderings that make it look like it is i.e. hewn from green glowing rock and end up evoking a similar vibe as the 2D "rough" texture of Papyrus which... isn't present.
I lol'd i hope that was pasta. Otherwise seek help. Its slighlty modified papyrus fyi
Avatar2 is unironically one of, if not the very best science fiction movie.
There are two major themes running through it: letting go of the past and defying expectations. Letting go of the past, as in saying goodbye to the old favorites, and making the new characters take center stage. Honest to god, I didn't care about Neytiri, Jake or Grace after Avatar, but I loved them by the end of this.
And defying expectations, as in putting twists and turns in the story. I can't say that you won't see the plot twists coming, but those are a lot better than in an average blockbuster. I wonder if Spielberg is salty that Cameron shaped his ideas so much?
I wouldn't call Avatar2 a deconstruction, though it comes close.
The humor was also great, measured gracefully and in the adequate places, Marvel could learn a LOT from this one.
And there is a silent space battle scene towards the end which left the audience breathless. I could literally hear jaws hitting the floor.
Imagine pretending Avatar was good
